My Story The End Started by: tony_capone on Jun 12, '12 02:35

Another five months had passed since the order had come down to begin dismantling the street gangs that were being funded to dismantle Don Genoveses businesses. I can no longer say that I had killed only one man in my life. My personal toll was now 12, the murder I've seen much more than that.

The men I've been sent with to repay my debt to the Don and defend his "turf" were killers and sadistic in doing so. Not that I consider myself at this point much better, but I feel the remorse for doing the harm I've been sent to unleash. These men however seem to not care, they laugh it off. I pray I never become as heartless.

Before the killing started, before the streets ran red with blood, I went home for the first time and last tine. It had been some time since the murder of my father, and the revenge I had taken with the murder of my uncle. My mother and my aunt now lived together in the apartment my family had once called our home. My cousin Alphonse had since the death of his father ran away, my aunt nor mother had seen him in months. I felt partially to blame for the cousin I considered to be like a brothers disappearance. I did not let it show however when my mother opened the door and embraced me almost painfully close. She did not fear me dead and spoke to me about the passed events as if she knew what I had done, though she did not show me any less love. My aunt though, broken and seemingly mentally unstable payed my concern no attention as I knelt next to her and placed my hand on hers as while she rocked back and forth in the rocking chair that sit overlooking the streets below.

I spent a mere hour in the presence of my mother, it was all I was allowed. My life was no longer my own. I lived on someone elses time now, I lived for someone else. I had a debt to repay. I kissed my momma goodbye one last time before I set off not knowing what I would run into along the way.

We began staking out businesses the family ran, some that had yet to be hit, others that had been hit but appeared weak. We used any force necessary to stop the street thugs in their tracks. We had used baseball bats to break the bones of our given enemies, knives to slice them open and dig them inside out, guns to tare holes through their bodies and end their lives.

We had all but stopped the advances of the rival families before something unheard of in this time transpired. Don Genovese's house came under fire from tommy guns as a car drove by slowly. Two guards were killed, the Dons wife shot down, and the Don himself was hit in the left shoulder and lower abdominal area.

This was no longer a turf war in the eyes of the families uppers but an all out battle. No longer were we to kill punk kids trying to torch and extort businesses the family controlled. Now we along with other members of the family were targetting high ranking members of the other family, their homes, their businesses, their families, it didn't matter.

We were firing tommy guns into businesses thought to be fronts for The Black Hand and Lucchesse families crime rings, burning them down, killing anyone who attempted to escape, cutting them down with tommy guns from our getaway cars as they appeared on the street outside. Don Genovese was making a fast recovery, and as heavy as his heart appeared to be he was angry, a rage burned inside him that would not be put out until all were destroyed.

We had heard of a bar where members of the rival families were thought to hang out, guys you didn't want to piss off as it was described to us. We were set to attack the bar one Thursday night around 10:30. We had been told those pricks were normally pretty liquored up and all hanging around. Me and the other Young Guns as we'd been deemed, mostly because of our age and what we did, sat outside of the place observing the ins and outs, doors that may need covered and so forth. We flicked our cigarettes out the window of the car we had arrived in, tucked our tommy guns into our jackets and exited the car.

Little did we know that our informant we had interrogated was wrong. This bar was not full of Lucchesse family members, nor members of the black hand. It was the remaining street gang members who we had been killing and ran out of Little Italy back into Lucchesse family territory.

We busted into the bar and Little Johnnie sent a spray of gunfire into the roof, instantly stopping everyone in their tracks. These mere kids did not have the look of goombas or wise guys, but beaten, battered wannabes, some still with wounds inflicted during battle with our family. I looked at my fellow accomplices as I lowered my gun, but noticed mine was the only one not aimed still at the graveling thugs on the floor. I could see the look on their faces, we had come this far I could tell they weren't willing to walk away. After all these same punk kids acted against us at one time. Some of them may have even been part of the attack on Don Genoveses house.

Before my counterparts could act I screamed out for their leader to make himself known. To my surprise the thug that made his way to his feet, his hands to the ceiling was none other than my cousin Alphonse. I recognized him straight away. I had to think fast, I knew we were to kill the thugs, I however did not want to kill the boy once like my little brother who's father I took from him, who's father took from me my father. I made my way to him, my gun raised, he recognized me, fuck. Before he could sound my name from his lips I took the tommy gun and used it to knock him unconscious. I took his limp body and dragged it to the door before turning to my accomplices, we all nodded and fired our tommy guns back and forth upon the floor until the screaming stopped.

I put Alphonse onto my shoulders and we escaped to the car and sped off. They were inquisitive of me, and why I'd done what I had. I explained I intended to question the boy before executing him, that for all Don Genovese had done for me, this I owed to him. I demanded they take .e to the safehouse I had once stayed. As good as these guys were with the business they participated in, they weren't bright.

I had Little Johnny help me get Alphonse inside, we made out we were drunk and as if one of us, Alphonse had drank a tad too much. When we made our way into the apartment safehouse I instructed Little Johnnie to leave as I would not take no for an answer, he did not want to see what I would do for answers I informed him. After a few minutes of questioning he left. I hastily began trying to wake Alphonse up, the kid had gone down like a ton of bricks. It took me dragging his body to the bathroom and holding his head under the bathtub faucet to get him back around. It was obvious he was disoriented and confused.

I layed into him verbally, I questioned his right mind, his name, I talked to him worse than a chlamydia infested prostitute. He wept as he told me why he had joined up with the street gang, how he assumed Don Genovese and his family were behind the death of his father, how soery he was our fathers were both murdered on the dame night, he seemed to believe these were murders committed by the Genovese family. He was offered a way back at the man who had taken his father and uncle from him, he had long feared me dead and thought they had gotten me too. I found it hard to explain. I could not tell him the truth. I lied. I told him I had gotten drunk, met a wise guy, been recruited. How I didn't want my momma to know and that's why I hadn't came home.

There was still a matter I had to solve in which right away I did not have a solution. If I didn't have information, if Alphonse was ever seen again, I knew that I would be the one found laying in cold blood. As I thought to myself while Alphonso lay at my feet crying I devised a plan. "To your feet boy" I said sternly. I did not want to be overly nice nor too fierce towards him. "You're going to tell me where to find Dominic Lucchesse" I raised the pistol I had stapped to my side. "If I told you they'd kill me" he whimpered in reply. "If you don't I'm going to have to".

I explained to Alphonse the plan I'd concocted. How I'd pay for him to leave, I'd made a little cash in extorting the businesses we overtook from the Lucchesse family. I told him I'd send him off, Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, anywhere he'd like. But if he didn't give me what I needed to save my ass, I sure wasn't saving him. Alphonse was obviously in shock from the ultimatum I had given him, in a way I was too.

Alphonse gave me the info I needed about Dominic Lucchesse, yes he was one man, but he was the head of the Lucchesse family and most feared brother. It's true one man doesn't make a family, but if you cut off the head of the snake the rest will falter and die shortly after.

For the information Alphonse gave me I held up what I had said and had a cab summoned to the safehouse to take the both of us to the train station, I am not that trusting. I walked him to the ticket window purchased his ticket and saw him to the 4 a.m. boarding for Chicago. I hadn't slept, there wasn't time. Dominic Lucchesse was hiding out in New Jersey at docks controlled by the Lucchesse family, a hit during the day would be perfect, would potentially less guards, and if not at least we'd be able to see them.

I walked to Little Johnnies mothers house and arrived at around 5:30 a.m. His mother was already awake fixing breakfast, Little Johnnie likely arrived home a few hours prior but Italian mothers are Italian mothers. She let me in and I woke up Little Johnnie. We took his car to retrieve the others and headed to New Jersey.

We arrived at the docks around 8 a.m., likely Dominic Lucchesse would be already awake, he was after all a man in his fourties, far beyond the days of being out all night drinking and living the lifestyle, plus since the killing of all the street gangs and the introduction to our guys in the Lucchesse turf, he had gone into hiding. I had explained to the guys on the way that while the Lucchesse family and The Black Hand had worked together, The Black Hand was weak, they were old, old school, and in too small numbers to be worth attacking. Taking care of the Lucchesse family head would likely bring talks of peace and fortify our family as New Yorks top family.

We came a few warehouses down from warehouse 8, the docks had workers walking back and forth, no one whom seemed to be a mafioso was to be seen, however that did not mean they were not present. We grabbed our tommy guns and began heading our way towards the warehouse which stored Dominic Lucchesse. When we were a warehouse away we could see a guard lighting a smoke next to a side entrance, if there was one outside there would likely be more on the inside. We decided to go around back of the warehouses to sneak up and make a more quiet approach opposed to blasting our way in.

Bobby Black removed the knife from his boot as the rest of us stayed back behind the other warehouses corner for cover. Bobby snuck up behind the guard and stabbed him in the side of the neck repetitively until he was able to drop him to the ground. We approached the door where he stood and took a few deep what could be final breaths. I had the idea to knock opposed to running in, so I knocked on the door three times, a few seconds later as we took position, guns ready the door swung open. I'm not sure who was the first to pull the trigger but as the figure appeared on the other side we began firing. Men inside were taking cover as we blasted our way in, shooting everything that moved, some that didn't. Our bullets found their targets time and again, unfortunately so did theirs. Bobby Black took one several to the chest, Little Johnnie was hit in the leg which may have saved the large mans life as he was forced to combat from the ground. As the gun fire ceased, the smoke from the guns began to clear we stood victorious, figuratively for some of us of course. We checked the dead, killed those barely hanging on and checked over Dominic Lucchesse's dead body. We gathered up Little Johnnie the best we could and I helped him walk out the door. Tony Sparrazi carried out the dead body of Bobby Black and we made our way to the car and left.

Don Genovese was pleased, the war was to surely now be won as he was still moving gingerly at his hone since the attacks. The violence for now seemed to be at its end, back to making money, there was no greater gift to give a grieving, recovering weakened Don. As we sat in the room where I had first begged for mercy from Don Genovese, there were plenty of positive things said about the three remaining soldiers that sat before him. There was promises of bigger things for the three of us, we were members of the best soldiers during this war, we had earned more favor than any other. There were also lots of may he rest and peaces said for our fallen brother Bobby Black. Upon leaving the house that night the city looked a little brighter, the jokes told were a little more funny, and the money we were about to be making seemed a little greener. This is New York City, and this, this is the life.

The End.
