Not the Way to Get into a Family. Started by: Iris on Aug 12, '08 22:29
Pft disrespecting my Boss.

When you get chance let me know the name and I will arrange a meeting with him :)
Report Post Tip
Wow, Scorch. According to you, anyone who mails the Boss first has the basis for being a damned good member? Considering that the ONLY way to get an invitation is to mail the Boss first, doesn't that mean that anyone and everyone is inherently a damned fine member? Recognise and exploit potential? My son, I think you need a crash course on recognising it.

I fail to see how Iris loses out by kicking this tard to the curb. If anything, she probably saved herself many future headaches that this person would have caused. He clearly showed an inability to respect his superiors. His stupidity is not as much of a problem. Some of the most unfortunate souls among us make the most loyal members. But someone who disrespects a Don? You cannot help someone with so little common sense.

A crewleader has an entire family to think about. The actions of one member reflect on the entire family. Iris is judged by the conduct of her members, as well as her own actions. Would you be willing to tie your good name and reputation to the fellow who sent this mail? Would you be willing to tie your fate to his future actions? If so, it can be arranged, but I will guess that you would reconsider your faith in him under those circumstances.
Report Post Tip
I think.

When the man come upto you and said can i join ur family,

you coud have asked him has his bloodline around along time. If they would have answered yes i would of not invited them as they should have knew better about asking for invitations, but if he woud hve told you he has just come into this world you have had a word and explain you are full at the moment and to go to your SCL and to put a bit more effort into the invite.

But i think what he has said after, is just stupid he should never talk to anyone like that.

Respect the person needs to learn.
Report Post Tip
I am sorry, if you don't have the time to put effort into your invite request then Iris should not have time for you.

The way you introduce yourself lets a leader know a bit about you.In your invite request there are many things you can say such as your goals and what you hope to accomplish joining her family.

Now one liners to me, means your a slacker. What kinda mob boss would want a slacker in there family? You want people who are willing to work with the family unit in making you money as well as working towards making your family more respected.

I applaud Don Iris on her decision.

Listens to all the opinions on the street

I completely agree that a well worded introduction, giving the CL a good reason to grant you access to their family, is neccessary.

However, someone who is new to this world surely cannot be expected to know that they need to send a well written introduction, family history and request to join the crew. So i think in the case of the person being new on these streets then the CL should have a responsibility to try and educate the person, maybe by handing them over to a RH, LH or Sub-crew leader.

Then we can have a population who learn how to carry themselves on the streets, and how to speak to the leaders of the cities.

Patiently waits for a response
Report Post Tip
The Leaders of our fair cities have family business they need to run. They cannot run and cater to all the new people that step onto our shores. The same goes for the RH and LH.

I never understood why people feel it is the leaders jobs to educate when your clearly given all the stuff you need to survive when you step off the boat. You are handed a bible of the way our world works.

What really happens is people choose not to read the bible and find themselves having a hard time finding a welcoming family.

Should they read the bible they would realize a family is needed in order to survive. Now this in the end would entail that they would have to speak to a leader or the upper structure.

Those who choose to use the information at there disposal find there way into families easily those who don't unfortunately find themselves struggling.
Report Post Tip
From what I've seen FlyingPig, the majority of newcomers to our shores these days gets hammered with mails of how to do well and what to do before sending a single mail. Based on that, there isn't that many people with that basis I think you'll find. Therefore, replying to one of the many introductory mails is the common way to get an invite, which means that mailing the Boss first ISN'T the "only" way. I'll recommend you for that crash course mate.

She loses out because she could have had a good member, with the right guidance and training, I feel. Yes he lacked respect, but notice how it turned to desperation? Can you not empathise with the poor man, having just arrived from a foreign country on the other side of the world??? He would have learned his place, like I said, with the right guidance.

Of course, I agree with your third point. However, I'm all about opportunities, having been granted one by Daera, I'd be happy to pass on the opportunity to the likes of this chap. I have faith in a lot of things FP, maybe I put faith in people too easily, but in the majority of cases it comes off beautifully. It's the minority that I'd be concerned about, those who do not take their opportunities, and it is this minority that you seem to class this young fellow, from one set of mails.

She steps up to Scorch and smiles..

Update on our little n00b:

Not because of what you have said but because of my own morals our little boy here has found himself a family. His leader and I have discussed his future and given him a chance.. Oh that should be past tense. Since this decision was made he has asked for personal family information, asked for my family's money, and been a general pain in the ass.

The leader whom he is sponsored by is trying to guide him but he in unreceptive to our attempts. They have given up.

All in all, it's exactly as we said it would be. So please, pass me the pain reliever.. I have one fucker of a headache now.
Report Post Tip
I understand how big a pain in the nether regions that those new to our shores can be. And that is why i have taken it upon myself to help educate those new in the ways of the Mafioso. If anyone receives mails such as the one Don Iris got or others like it please send them to my Home and I will try to educate them. I know that Crewleaders don't have the time to help everyone out and that is the reason I do what i can.
Report Post Tip
Yes, we get the hint Darth. Really.. We do. You've made it VERY clear. However, this discussion isn't about your organization. Please remember that should you feel inclined to participate further.

She smiles with a gleam in her eyes..

A new update...

Said child did not pass down the lesson's we were trying to teach him to his son. His son has now met with a very early death due to the same mistakes in judgment and behaviour. Word his his grandson isn't off to a much better start.
Report Post Tip
Scorch, I do not need a crash course in ANYTHING. You would do well to listen to what I had to say and learn from it. It could make the difference in whether or not you ever reach the heights your family line has aspired to, but never attained.

I will repeat what I said, and stand by it. The ONLY way to receive an invitation is to approach the Boss first (or a RHM or LHM). It does not matter if some charitable mafioso is sending out an informational letter or not. It still falls on the immigrant to take the initiative to ask for an invitation. I suppose, if the crewleader decides to hand out invitations arbitrarily without speaking to those they invite, then the immigrant could bypass the requirement. But...that practice is both foolish and frowned upon. Entrance into La Cosa Nostra is not handed out to everyone on the street like a flyer from a Chinese food delivery.

It's quite amazing that you come out here purporting to know better than Don Iris about the judgment she exercises. You are still quite wet behind the ears in the ways of this world, and Don Iris comes from a legendary bloodline who has seen and done everything. You should try to learn from her, not try to correct her. Voicing your opinion is one thing - no matter how radical your views might be, you can let them be heard. But your chastising manner and passing judgment against those who possess more experience and knowledge than you can ever hope to attain...well that's just absurd.

It is not as if this is the first time she or her ancestors have run across such an applicant for family membership. In fact, the times she has been in similar situations number in the hundreds, maybe even thousands. It is unnecessary to point out that she was correct in her first impression of the young man. There was never any doubt in my mind that it would turn out any other way.
Report Post Tip
Sometimes people know what there doing and just want to be a pain in the ass. Some other gangsters have just had a hard time of it and they only want to see pain on others faces, so they'll be as rude and judge mental as they can to see pain and suffering. All families need to try and block these people out and not to give them the time or day. Were in the mob for gods sake, we don't have to listen to anyone we don't want to, and nobody should be saying a damn thing to you about it.
Report Post Tip
Its a shame to see such disrespect from someone who obviously isnt new to the streets. I hope this person didn't make it past gangtser to teach him/her a lesson in respect.
Report Post Tip
Well, Satan, if you had listened a little closer you would have heard that the youngster was allowed to join a family and had people trying to teach him about this thing of ours, but he wasn't being overly receptive. His son buried him and took over the "family business" repeating his father's mistakes... Now the grandson is here and we have been graced with such poetic letters as:

"u shot me"

"ll kill u u ahole"

Please note that these are exact quotes from the letters found on my desk.

His family was given two chances with instruction and advice. They chose to ignore the aid and ended up in a shallow grave behind City Hall. Now I have the third generation contacting me with inane threats. However, in the child's defense he has sent me an apology for his forefathers' behaviour and I am considering forgetting his poetry and giving him a chance to right the wrongs of his forefathers.

So yes, this bloodline was given a chance, two and now probably a third... Listen closer next time.
Report Post Tip
Don Iris I must say that you have the patience of Job. Not many in this thing of ours would give someone a second chance let alone a third chance. I'm glad to see that it looks like the bloodline may finally shape up. We where all new once so a little bit of tolerance should be extended.
Report Post Tip
Can I keep him as a pet?

Purleeeeeeeeeeease?
Report Post Tip
No, you may not. As you are WELL aware Oompa the American Society for the Protection of Animals (backed by the courts, and right-minded people everywhere) has forbidden you to ever own a pet again. The Badgermadillo episode was one step too far!

Back on topic, some people are just not meant for this life of crime. If, in three generations, this person hasn't learned that empty threats and moronic insults are counter productive, well, I hold out little hope for his next of kin.

Wonderful thread really, should be kept up for all newbs to see!
Report Post Tip
I agree with you, Mr. WildTurkey. We need more new people to read this thread.
