Daera looks at the new immigrants milling about the docks, sighing at the youngsters as they walk around asking everyone they see in a bold or slanty suit for an invite Youngsters these days. No sense of pride, of self respect. It used to be, once upon a time, a new immigrant would arrive on these shores, take some time to look around, ask questions of people, settle upon a single family head who seemed to meet the ideals they had in mind, and approach them and only them and ask for an invitation to the family. Nowadays, the youngsters just dash off the boat and scream to every single leader begging for an invitation. No time taken, no standards. Just approaching every single leader until they get an invitation, never mind how disrespectful they're being to any other leader who might send them an invitation that they have no intentions on accepting. This behavior was almost unthinkable in the old days, such actions would lead to the swift shooting of the offending person, the words "Have some respect for yourself and the family heads who rule the cities." the last thing they would ever hear. But these are not the old days, and I am a kinder man, a gentler man, than all those of my bloodline who have come before me. Instead, I simply sit here befuddled at the actions and blatant disrespect these youngsters are showing. What are they thinking? Are they thinking? I am simply.... befuddled at these actions. Taking what you say as the truth, I guess we can at least take solace in the fact that they are looking for a family rather than thinking they can go solo in a city ruled by a mafia faction. Do not worry about becoming too kind, gentle, and forgiving. I will continue to be a big enough prick for the both of us. I will always believe the best way to instruct someone with a thick skull is to shoot them and their descendants until things start to sink in. They say that respect is earned. Bullshit. Respect can be demanded under pain of death. |

One of my "flaws", ill-advised in some people's opinion, is that I prefer to offer second chances than stick a bullet in their skull and say "I hope your son learns from your mistake." I think the guilty party would prefer to be warned first so they can change their ways, as opposed to having a narrow minded "No second chances" attitude. I can appreciate Mr Pig's attitude, I know the zero tolerance approach teaches the new arrivals some respect and they learn their lesson, but if the same result can be achieved by warning them then I'd rather take that approach. Scorch shrugs. I'm sure I'll be shot down many times over, but we all have our opinions. |

| Scorch is right, violence is not always the answer to teaching people the life of crime and exactly what being in a family means. FlyingPig, to be honest i am disgusted and shocked by what you have said. Killing generations, ie, bloodline hunting does not teach anyone anything. These fresh off the boat mafiosa's need instructing from the second they get off the boat. Killing them for making stupid decisions when they know no better is no good, they need someone to take them under their wing and show them the way. | |

I think I have to go with the nicer approach on this one. There are the few that no matter how many times you tell them/try to help them, they just don't get it. Those people need to be taught a lesson. But many of these just off the boat new gangsters, have no clue about the ways of the mafia. Which is why those of us who have been around awhile should mentor them and show them the correct way. With just a little help, most of them learn quickly, and realize their mistakes. |

Who said anything about bloodline hunting, Jason? Bloodline hunting involves killing someone based on something that an ancestor of their's did. That is not what I am talking about. I am talking about killing someone for being stubborn and refusing to take instruction, follow rules, or show respect. First, you correct them by telling them what they did wrong and what they should have done instead. Oftentimes this results in an argument with the Tard making excuses for himself rather than simply apologizing and agreeing not to make the same mistake twice. Sometimes the Tard will be disrespectful in his arguing. It is at this point that it becomes obvious that harsher measures are needed to teach him respect. So, you cap the stupid son of a bitch. Then, his offspring comes along. You would think that they would have learned where their attitude and conduct take them, but this is not often the case. Oftentimes it is a "rinse and repeat" cycle, with the offspring learning nothing and doing the same things, but expecting different results. If you honestly think I would kill someone simply for being uninformed about the ways of this world, kindly fuck off. I have taught more new immigrants than I can recount. Some of the greatest mobsters in our history began by being someone I took under my wing. One of the lessons they must learn is that there is not many second chances or forgiveness in this business. It is best they learn that right away. Correct them when they are wrong, and if they don't learn from it, then the punishment must escalate. I referenced "thick skulled" mobsters. Not everyone falls into this category. Some mobsters will take correction and adjust their behavior. The problem is, most of you are retarded, and it takes more than just a "Hey, don't do that" to get the message across. |

Unfortunately, we digressed from Daera's original point, and moral of the story - don't go round asking everyone in a bold or slanty suit for an invite. Show that you want to join one family in particular by waiting for a reply from said family before swanning off to join a different family. That wont bode well for your future, due to it being highly disrespectful to ask for an invite, receive it, then disregard it. We did just see FP's soft side, in that he doesn't always just shoot and whisper what the culprit did wrong. He does correct them. Zero tolerance isn't your approach then FP? |

Did he not just say that Scorch? I do believe he did. She smiles If he did believe in a zero tolerance policy you would see more Java Cartel in the obits than you do now, which is very few. We guide and teach our family members, we have people that assist us in this as well. We have several new members to our society that have proven to be a blessing and a surprise. Piggy and I both spend much of our time here talking to these new members, as well as the older bloodlines, about the way things work in our world. We are in the Mafia, we aren't here to blow bubbles and dance under sunshine and rainbows. We are hardened criminals. That's something many forget. |
