It has come to my attention that many of you feel the actions of DiscoDuck to be somehow wrong. I have heard people criticise the ways in which he has risen to his current position and the ways in which he has maintained his power; specifically, killing his equivalents. I have heard people complain about how his actions, and the actions of his allies, have led to consequences that disadvantage the community; namely, to bring about the case that there were (until very recently) but two families. I wish to discuss this with those of whom I speak. Firstly, I would like to ask you if you consider each and everyone of us to be members of a criminal society. I will assume that you agree, but if you do not, I would like you to tell me of what you consider us to be members. From this, I would like to ask you if you consider the priority of any member of a criminal society to be the acquisition of wealth and of power. Again, I will assume that you agree, but you are free to correct me if you consider me mistaken. Now, with this in mind, I would like to ask you if you consider it easier to acquire wealth and power if one is unopposed or if one is counterbalanced by other individuals. I will assume that you agree with the former, but like before, I welcome alternative views. Following on from this, I would like to know if you consider it easier to acquire and maintain wealth and power if one is acting alone or if one is acting as a member of a collective. Like me, I assume, you agree that it is easier to acquire wealth and power as a member of a collective. As we have, hopefully, agreed that it is easier to acquire and maintain wealth and power if one is unopposed, and that this is easier as a collective than as an individual, then it follows on from this that we agree to it being the case that a collective opponent is undesired, it being the case that anything that increases the difficulty of us acquiring and maintaining wealth and power is undesirable. If a collective opponent is undesired to those who wish to acquire wealth and power, and we, being members of a criminal society, seek to acquire and maintain wealth and power, then we do not desire a collective opponent. If we do not desire a collective opponent, and we feel we are capable of destroying any collective opponents, then it is no doubt necessary for us to destroy, or try to destroy, our collective opponents. We cannot be considered wrong in doing so because it logically follows from being who we are, wanting what we desire, and how it is that we can achieve our goals. Finally, I would like to apply this reasoning to our current situation. DiscoDuck, a member of a criminal society, the Mafia, has formed a collective, the Duck Pond, as a means in which to acquire wealth and power. Aware that other families, collective opponents, are just that, and that these collective opponents are, or could soon be, a threat to his acquisition of wealth and power, he has taken the necessary action. If any of you feel that my reasoning is flawed, or that one or more of my premises are incorrect, then I welcome you to come here and join in with this discussion. |

Well, duh! Unfortunately, most of these criminals didn't get past the third grade, and the concept of logic is lost on them. I'm afraid that you are, in some cases, preaching to the choir, and in the rest of the cases, you made their heads explode. The crying won't stop until everyone comes to the realization that they are actually mobsters. |

I find you words very wise Gensis. But to be perfectly honest, what you speak of is way too early for the circumstances this world is in. You talk about families, yet I fail to see any families here yet. There are a few mademen running gangs of associates. Not one mademan, who is infact far from controling his own city, can be considered a real threat to any other made gang in another city a few hundred miles away... Patience would have been the key to let leaders show what they are capable of in their own city. Wars over petty reasons is what happened here in my humble opinion. |

The reasons for the wars are quite irrelevant. Hell, at least there were reasons. Anita used to kill off entire families just for fun, when she was doped up on heroin. Whether or not these leaders are leaders of families is just semantics. That's also not the point. This one point, however, is just way off the mark: "Not one mademan, who is infact far from controling his own city, can be considered a real threat to any other made gang in another city a few hundred miles away" Far from controlling their own city? On the contrary, I'd say Duck is controlling his own city very well, and other cities too, when he gets the urge. Try setting up your own family in his city, or any city for that matter, and see how much control he has. Not a threat to another made gang? Well, there hasn't been any MADE gangs up until recently, but you might ask Otho, Gero, Tank-Mong, Antonio, The_Mathmatician, and others if they considered him a threat. Oh wait, you can't, they're dead. |

| Whether or not an association is a family is a matter of relativity. It is those in power who make such distinctions. DiscoDuck, Rhett and Angryman are in power, and so it is these three who will decide. | |

Now lets not confuse things here gentlemen. I believe you are proud of what you have achieved, but sorry to get OOCish here, but this has nothing to do with mafia, nothing at all. Its more a wild west szenario you guys are showing here. Shooting everything that moves before it shoots you is so totally not mafia style mafia is about business, making money. mafia rather works together with another organisation than wiping them out because they "might" become a threat. |

| Yes, the Mafia is about business. But if one's family has a monopoly on money-making, then one will achieve much more than if one is a member of an oligopoly or a competitive market. | |

| I for one never felt that organized crime, working in such highly illegal and dangerous businesses, would have anything to do with a \"race like competition\", nor do I think that acting like this would (sorry for beeing OOC again) last longer than a few days in a world with proper police (aka realworld, yeah its a game and all that but its a mafia game after all not a shoot em up game isnt it?). | |
