She listens to don-vito and smiles. Ahh, the voice of a n00b. So great to hear. I hate to break it to you kiddo but money does not give you the ability to run everything. It gives you the ability to buy or reward.. Not run the show. If I could have anything I wanted it would not be money. It would not be power. It wouldn't be a perfect, peaceful world formed in the memory of Eden or a dream scape utopia. Quite simply it would be for people to use their imaginations, remember the originality that we all once possessed. It would be for this world to grow and excel in all of it's many facets. It would also be to see the last of these types of discussions that have no bearing on our society other than a place to spew off idle babble in hopes that someone will think the speaker actually cares about what others have said or what the original orator has said. The end of vain attempts at making ourselves appear active in the community rather than actually being a part of the community, speaking just to be seen and heard rather than speaking with substance and a reason more than stifling the comments in regards to a lack of activity within this area of our world or our world in general. |

On a more general level; the typical mafioso will have the grand dream of mountains of money, a gun strong enough to shoot through a brick wall and finally a horde of hard working people at their beck and call. It doesn't take a genius to see the appeals of such a life, however; on a more personal level hearing the stories passed on from my great grandaddy, It's pretty apparent that, that is not the pinnacle of our lives here. What do I want more than anything? Loyalty. Not the kind that disappears with rank and status. The kind of loyalty that spans more than one generation. Our system of principles has lost some of it's prestige recently. I like to believe in the goodness and honor of most Mafioso's, you will be disappointed from time to time but every now and then someone will stand up and make your faith in such things worth while. What Do I want more than anything? Loyalty. |

"The kind of loyalty that spans generations". ... I do not understand. Is loyalty now a genetic trait? Are infants born with loyalties to people they have not even met yet? What you are actually referring to is NOT something that is desirable or admirable. It is something that DESTROYS true loyalty. When a mobster is loyal to the associates of his ancestors rather than to his family, all our traditions are lost and this widespread practice makes it difficult to place trust in your family. It is becoming more common these days, and now we are here...someone actually advocating it as a POSITIVE. What you are speaking of is a simple-minded approach to how we do things, and it is a curse upon this thing of ours. |

With due respect Mr. Pig. My ancestors have walked alongside yours on these streets for quite some time now, you have quite a few of those loyalties that span generations. When a man dies protecting another, is it not that mans responsibility to look after the others son, when the older man dies does some burden of help not fall upon the son to that mans children? It's simply an honor system wherein bloodlines stay loyal to one another. I'm not excluding the loyalty these men should have to their families, in the case of my ancestry they very often fond themselves working for the same boss. For the simple reason that they hold many of the same ideals true. What I'm talking about isn't tearing apart our society, viewed in the right context it strengthens it. |

Sure, you are right in that context. It depends on how these loyalties get twisted around. A man who dies serving his family might very well have his son taken care of by that Boss. That child, in return, remains loyal to the family of his father. I was looking at the darker side of things, which I have seen too many times. An entire family is exterminated. There are no remnants left for the children to fill their father's shoes. They move on to a new family, and somehow, through some supernatural occurrence, they form a bond with the other children of their parent's family associates. These bonds take precedence over their family loyalty. I have seen it too many times, and it sickens me. Family business gets leaked out of the family, family funds are diverted outside the family, even family hits being handled by hitmen outside the family, who might some day use that training experience against that family. Ideally, it is still true that the child's loyalty should be formed from his or her own experiences. If that child is cared for by the Boss of the parent's family, then that is loyalty born from its own experience. If the child has no experience, but the loyalty is based on the parent's experience, then there is something wrong. |

I absolutely agree with you there. Friendships and personal loyalties should never be greater than the loyalty to ones family. It has sadly become a way of life that inner circles are smaller and smaller than ever for fear of information being leaked out by some of the less honorable mafioso's. Loyalty starts with family, however as I said very often these bloodlines end up in the same institutions because of their belief systems. I won't pretend that the coffee shops aren't responsible for a large amount of the betrayals in our society, and I don't agree with it. I didn't communicate it as well as I could have however one of the reasons I wished for loyalty above all, was due to the betrayals that fell upon my ancestors, some by members of his own family, for a coffee shop friendship. |
