It used to be that even whilst offline, your personals were PM'd to you over IRC.

I'm guessing the reason it was changed was so that people wouldn't know they were being taken down at 4am when they should be otherwise fast asleep. This idea would go back against that.

Other than that, this gives an advantage to those who own and use a mobile phone so it's not an idea I'd support.

Also, if your willing to leave irc open all night, someone will blow it up the second someone starts attacking you, same with your phone. So why not have your phone messaged with personals? You'll find out fast enough any ways.

I don't necessarily know about texting, but I know that, for instance, with the facebook app for my phone, every time I get a facebook notification my phone buzzes. Perhaps something like that would be more workable, perhaps not.

Sorry, but I agree with DeadlySin's stand point. Whilst you may feel 9/10 people have and use a mobile, not all those people are willing to give out their number so readily and so those that don't are therefor at a disadvantage.

I'm sorry but I agree with DeadlySin and Slash on this one. If bad things happen then one way or the other somebody will get in contact with you.

Like you already stated, there are other ways that this could be done without adding another cost to the people who run the site. I'm sure you will also find there are members who play who do not have a cell phone and/or texting/web.. not to mention those that are from different countries, some of which have different costs for receiving out of country texts and commercial texts (Not all companies offer free incoming texts like that).

From the game point of view, not everybody needs to be "in the know" every minute of the day. In the real world, a lowly under made is not going to know the business of what is going on unless they are told through the grapevine.. Same goes here. We don't need a text service to get news. If somebody feels you should know something, they will find a way to contact you. This is why HSLs ask for contact information. It works the same way without having to add a costly feature. In all honesty.. unless you are a hitter, professional proer or some part of the upper structure.. there is no reason for you to be worrying your pretty little head about things.

((If you are concerned about giving your number out to an HSL or anybody, keep in mind there are other ways to have them be able to contact you by phone. Many phones now have email services connected to the phone that alert you when you get a new email... set up a facebook just for MR and connect it to your phone to receive messages by text..IMs can do the same.. and there are even apps that let you create another number that you can send/receive texts and incoming calls for free))

I see the texting idea as a good one. Surely some people don;t have phones, but 9/10 people do. Its the same as the durdens. People get tweets about durden spawns and that so whats the difference. I mean not everyone has twitter either.

This would cost, as far as I know Twitter offers free accounts.. and is not a mobile phone only thing giving people a choice on how they receive the alerts. Plus, in my opinion there is a difference between a head's up on Durdens and getting a head's up on a take downs. That would kind of ruin the whole point of take downs, which wouldn't be very fun or realistic now would it?

how do you feel about an app? We have the "phone friendly" page, it works, but, is fairly limited, a timered app could be sold (bringing income to the game), and a free app can simply not have the timers.

I know, its a game, not a girlfriend, but any one who's going to want it on their phone probably either plays with a girlfriend who understands, or they play it on their phone while at work, like me, or maybe they just like to play on their phone, idc.

"not everyone can use a phone..". Well not everyone can afford to buy jails or CAs...

Not quite the same, you CAN buy credits with game cash, but I'm not talking about giving anyone an advantage they don't already have if they have an smart phone, tablet or ipod touch even. Maybe the app chimes when its crime/ fly time, maybe it just has bigger pictures/text for phone users so its easier to actually crime from a phone.

So basically, its the same as playing on any other computer/tablet, Its just more compatible with smaller screens.

I do not want this game in my life anymore then it is ffs.

You want to know what is going on in your personals log on. Fast, cheep, and makes you still have to put some work in to your account.
