Bob looked at his watch, it was 10 minutes to showtime… 10 minutes from now, he would be telegraphing the world how he had been responsible for trading on illegal contracts and making rich people richer.. Just a minute before the soapbox was set, he remembered an old story his dad had told him...
In the 20-30's this was not a mafioso, this was a banker.. Wall Street was roaming with new aspirants waiting in line to either join the publicly acceptable league of financiers or join the underground of the mafia… Both choices had their pros and cons..
Put options handed over the counter with no collateral arrangements…
Hit lists handed from crew to crew without gentleman agreements…
Manipulating LIBOR trying to get a free lunch…
Killing young gangsters to get their free lunch…
Deceiving governments to believe in free markets…
Cops on the payroll, they're not a free target…
Credit default swaps, financial weapons of mass destruction…
Guns and overseen earners are taking dad's construction…
Cover exposure, buy selling against the client…
Dad will leave this for me, why even bother trying….
I was born to be a banker, now I'm thinking twice….
I will die as a mafioso, with your wife...
So, people.. Who wins? |

Don't worry him bob, I doubt he'll be alive long enough to make anything of himself...
On the other hand.. I think the mafioso win, from a power standpoint... you see it appears that a banker talks with money.. But we mafioso can talk with money, extortion, and firepower.
So strictly from a power standpoint I'd say we have the upperhand |
