Walking through the streets and reading transcripts of old conversations something came to me. There seems to be a division in our community as to what the line of work we are in is really about. There are those amongst us who believe that our line of work is for personal gain(by personal I mean the one organization) That any perceived threat should be dealt with quickly and harshly. That only through hostile actions can power be held. There are others who believe that discussion and business deals are what we are all about. That matters should be dealt with round the boardroom table, talked out and hostile action be the last method considered to iron things out. My personal belief is that neither of these two view points are right and neither of these two view points are wrong. That in fact our way of life and business dealings should be dealt with utilizing both methods. I recently heard a person refer to our way of life at the minute as a wild west scenario, this I believe is partially true and partially false. While there have been times where action has been taken through more, how to put it, aggressive behavior. There have also been actions of a more passive nature. Look where we are now, over the past few weeks we have had many companies rise and many companies fall. Yet now we seem to be coming to a leveling out stage. Businesses are hopefully starting to thrive, money is changing hands and it is there for all to make with the required work. To those who are out there, that feel they are at a disadvantage look around you. There are many opportunities to thrive in our world if you put the time and effort in. Now if you'll excuse me I am running late for a meeting. |
