If I may take a moment of your time, I'd like to approach a topic that I've been considering these past few hours. The topic at hand is the different types of people and the use of violence in our business, and their state of mind as to when violence should be used. The way I see it, there are certain types of people in this world: The Activists. There are those who will resort to violence to solve any issue. These people will be unyielding in their opinions and should someone oppose them, then the action that will be taken is a physical one and the Activist will take out the offending party. Words are an under-used resource for this type of person because they feel that words do not solve problems effectively in any situation. These people have a hair trigger, and are not to be tested as they are hot-headed individuals. The Enforcers. Unlike Activists, Enforcers use their head before firing on a family. These are also relatively hot-headed people, but consider their actions before using their weapons to solve any issues, and are able to recognise when words would be a more appropriate solution. More trigger happy than Disciplined people, they will react to actions more easily and resort to violence more quickly also. The Disciplined. These are the level before Pacifists and are able to recognise when violence is needed to solve a situation, and when physical action is appropriate for a particular offence. Sensible in their approach, these are level-headed people who are generally able to use words as a solution but will know when the offending party has made too many mistakes and will not appease the aforementioned party's mistakes for too long. The Pacifists. Pro-peace. These people rarely turn to violence and believe that words are an effective solution to every situation, and are therefore decidedly against taking action against offending parties. These people are resolute in their beliefs and will only resort to violence if they feel it is absolutely necessary because their words are falling on deaf ears. They are likely to ignore any cries for war and are likely to try and be friends and allies with all other Family Heads. The Drifters. These people are more likely to not actually have a fixed opinion on when violence should be used, and will therefore act rather unpredictably because they are unsure as to what degree of offence deserves a peaceful approach or an aggressive approach. Chances are these people will rely on the opinions of others when seeking a solution to an issue. Unfortunately, I couldn't fit them into my range of violent to peace ordering as they do not act consistently. I'd be interested as to where you think you fall in these categories, and if you have any additions or changes that you'd like to make. |

| I would place me on the cusp between Disciplined and Enforcer. I try to weigh out every variable before taking action, but will also take whatever action I finally decide upon even if it means certain death. | |

Well, first of all I'd like to say that you've done a good work, Denver. Very well worked out some different types. You put some thought behind all that. Smiles I'd see myself as an pacifist as killing is too much stress, it draws the attention from the cops and the media on us. I always believed and made the experience that you can solve a lot with words and a clear mind which ist controlled by blood-thirst. So, I'm the pacifist type of guy in your listings. |

*Anderson waits patiently on the outside of the crowd of people who have spoken about their qualities before beginning.* Excuse me, I too have something to relate, in the way of qualities and such. A person can seemingly change when you have the right kind of experience, I have found. A hott-headed man can become more patient after he starts a family, and the more patient can become more violent after letting it bottle up inside of them for so long. After careful review, Denver, of the brilliant thought and words you conveyed, and of all of you relating to all of us what kind of person you honestly see yourself as, I conclude a spot for me in this mix. I see myself more as an Enforcer...nothing more, nothing less. I am new to these parts and have a lot to learn and bring to this THING OF OURS, however, what I do know is what my experience has taught me. Using your head before brawn is a great thing to practice, especially when there will always be someone out there who will decide to humble you if you use too much of your brawn. I can recognize when words can prove to be a better solution than bullets, but also when bullets can shut the mouths of the disrespectful and rats. Resorting to violence isn't something one should strive to do, but I do believe that certain individuals need to be made an example out of. Otherwise, they'll try and gain control or just walk all over you in this regard. There's a code of conduct and rules we mafioso live by. Honor your family, honor God, and honor This Thing of Ours. When one person crosses that line, I believe in less disciplined actions and more aggressive actions. Whether that is mugging, pickpocketing, killing him, or just sending some goons to go teach him a lesson. These are my thoughts and I thought I'd share. | I agree in spirit with Anderson, that sometimes you may have different attitudes to different types of situations. Personally, I look at all things from a perspective that accomplishes a means to an end. Your decisions can perhaps be unpopular at first, until you see the larger picture at hand. Having that mentality in mind, I think it's possible to accomplish anything this world of ours might throw at us. | |

I could see my self as a Disciplined, but some times i would be a enforcer. Its mostly on whats going on at the time, who's the person that is making the mistake, and how much i dislike them. I won't mind pulling the trigger on someone who made 1 mistake too much, but i might kill someone who is messing with me. *With his share said, he slips into the shadows* |

Strolling around the streets in a brief moment away from work, Rorschach turns to listen to an interesting topic and hears a young man pipe up: "enforcer because i am smart and kan kill people with a plan and take down a family with smarts" twitches Sir, I am half convinced that you are a demon from the netherworld, sent to torment me and destroy everything I love, while simultaneously amusing me. To answer the question though, I would probably classify myself as disciplined. War can be a terrible thing, and can be very bad for business. That being said, there is a time and a place for everything, especially in this thing of ours- a world without any violence would soon kill us all from boredom. Walks away, shaking his head and twitching. |
