Hey just a suggestion for the suggestion box :).

      You guys should make it where if you create a thread and then no longer want it. Then  the creator of the  thread should be able to delte it . Just an idea coming from some one that has had to get a few delted due to typin errors lol.

This was discussed a while back. the consensus was that being able to delete a post caused more game dangers. however, it was suggested that a brief period when editing could be done to fix typos would be a useful addition. I'd love to see the PC consider that.

Or something like editing when you can edit it at any time instead of had to wack it or make another one due to one mistake/updates (especially in back alley) 

Perhaps a post preview button, so you could look at it and proofread it as it would appear once submitted.

I would like to be able to mark a thread I've made for deletion, Like so you posted something in the wrong thread or maybe you posted something before it was really ready, Or also in the case of a double post.

I don't think this should be available for any place other than back alley.

If you want to check a thread before posting you can use WYSIWYG (personally I don't use it) or you could post the thread in back alley first to see how it will come out, but being able to edit in back alley would be handy.

If you post a thread in the streets instead of OOC or something of that nature you can simply mail helpdesk & they will get it moved/deleted.

I like Whitey's idea - marking it for deletion with perhaps a comment field for HD. Then a help desker reviews the post to ensure deleting it will not have an effect on the speech, thread, or game.

Put it in a backalley thread first, check for errors etc before you post. You can delete the backalley threads yourself, negating the need for this entirely - in my opinion, at least.

Reading the previous thread a long while ago mentioned editing street threads would cause a lot of controvesy in what is true or not. But, I agree that they try out the editing posts only in the back alley threads.

The only way to do it is posting it in the back alley, like DeadlySin said. You can't trust WYSIWYG because it has a few minor bugs that can really throw off your post. If you have noticed people double posting within the same post, then that is the bug I'm referring to.

I don't really think the ability to delete a thread other than in the back alley is a good idea. What would keep the thread starter from just deleting their thread because a debate isn't going the way they want it to. A lot of thought has gone into the way the forums run and they are as they are for a reason. If something that is posted with an error, you have the option to mail the helpdesk and request that it be removed.

Back Alley Threads...really need the ability to edit these threads. If you are working on a long post, it really takes the piss to have to C&P, make a new thread, then correct wysiwyg bugs.

Perhaps there should be a button for the post next to the thread or comment to "request delete" which'll just help streamline getting the issue addressed.

That just put's more strain on helpdesk/admins, if you don't want the thread any more leave it to drop into obscurity.

Outkast, I usually just edit/rewrite it in that same thread in back alley in a reply post. And don't use the WYSGIWOKDSARIEWUROU feature to begin with.

Double posts happen all the time, luckily i've gotten in the habit of hitting the 'paste from word' button so it seems to work out more or less... But honestly every single person here has at one point or another screwed up a public post and yelled at the screen 'make it go away'

I don't think being able to just 'delete' it is a good idea but what spikespiegel said about 'streamlining' the deletion/moving process would be fantastic... I also haven't noticed a 'report' functionality for posts (but i might just be blind) I think a report/mark for deletion button would be wonderful. Maybe they could be the same button even, just a 'hey HD please look at this' instead of sending a mail?

Pretty much what whitey described along with my prior suggestion, would be nice.

As for wanting to delete a post for reasons other than just a simple screw up or something, no. A post should only be deleted if it's offensive, or it needs to be rewritten. People should not be able to take back their words after the fact, and as Flash said, "if you don't want the thread anymore leave it to drop into obscurity." Of course, if it's a popular thread, it might not drop into obscurity, but that's why people should put in extra thinking before posting anything at all.
