Stepping into the streets he spots the usual rabble hanging around waiting to hear something interesting. Strolling over he coughs loudly, not to get attention, he just still hasn't got around to quitting smoking - and the doctors claim it's good for you? Pah! Bumming a smoke off one of his guards he nods to a few acquaintances before starting his speech. "The Godfather of Chicago is Evsie." Oh how I love to see grandpas name at the airport when I fly in to town, it brings back fond memories of fireside chats with him about the good old days and the fun he had - he tended to leave out the nastier stuff for my young ears. So imagine if you will my chagrin when it appeared a racing certainty that Alessia, queen of the jail breaks and not a lot else looked set to remove that sign and replace it with one of her own. Fortunately, paranoia won out and that is no longer the case. What now for the windy city? Pickles. That's what. Maybe some beans too, who knows what the future will hold? Branston is about as fine a Mafioso as one could hope to meet. Serving with him in the New Scum, where he has performed admirably as Left Hand Man and developed new friendships, has been an honour and a privilege. His conduct since becoming a Captain here in New York has been exemplary. His immediate and unwavering support in the face of the threats we faced yesterday gives testament to his character. It is with great pleasure I announce Branston's move to Chicago. I can think of nobody more suitable to take up the mantle and begin the quest for Godfather in the city so many of my family called home. It is unfortunate however that he is unlikely to survive long enough to achieve that great rank of Godfather. His family have a genetic predisposition toward wackback, you see. It will be a tragedy beyond the telling when he goes. The final obstacle of this great move is, of course, the permission of the Gods. The high priests of the seven cities, Father Pats and Father Genos, have been consulted, and are communicating with the deity now, once they have agreed, the move can be implemented. Until that time, I present to you, ladies and gentlemen, Branston, Don of Chicago. (Well, Consigliere of Chicago, but it can't be long!) |

Caligula listens to the speech, eager to get his congratulations off to his old friend. Well done Branston, a brilliant opportunity and you are a brilliant choice for the role. I look forward to seeing what you do with your own city, and I'm sure the results will be positive no matter the path you choose to take it. Salut! Caligula looks around furiously for a glass to raise, but upon finding none turns to his trusty hip flask, careful not to spill any on the way up. She smiles as she watches Branston turn red from the comments regarding his ancestors' predisposition to the horrid wackback syndrome. Congratulations my dear, I see a bright future for the Windy City, especially with pickles and beans involved. I cannot wait to see you in your new suit.. But please? Alive walks by a small crowd and hearing the word "Chicago" she turned back on her steps and started to listen, when the man was done - as everyone else - said her share of thoughts - which were like everyone else! Congratulations Mr. Branston! Good look, don't forget to get yourself something to hold your Fedora in place in that extraordinarily windy city. I lost them all the time when I passed by there, including one of my favorites: a white fedora with a black rim and... Oh right you don't really want to know this do you? Well alright then. Congratulations again and good luck! |

Well well well man. I have to say, I'm sad to see you leaving New York's ranks as it is never easy to lose someone of your stature. The big Pickle is heading the way of the Windy City eh. With two family lines that have remained so close over the past few years, I am truly over the moon for you to get this opportunity within the climate we are in and the rank you have so far obtained. As my own dear Don has said, keep that gun hidden away and we will see a long and prosperous pickle period. |
