At some point in all our lives, money is going to be the driving force behind certain decisions we make, whether to be used as an olive branch to form alliances, bolster security or to ultimately purchase a shiny new building for you and your family, it's all going to come down to your bank balance. Along the way many people are going to come and go for whom there is no greater success than parting you with your hard earned dollars, you've no doubt heard the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted..." well I'm not so sure this still applies, these people are professionals, they slip and slide throughout our cities seducing each cent from our palms, it's become the norm in fact, with people irrationally offering anything they can for the merest forms of entertainment and self gratification. It should be up to each individual to judge for themselves what they are to do with their capital, and to not just follow the crowd and go with the safest of bets, in the not too distant future crime families will be springing up left, right and center and many will be looking for certain things, which don't include your loyalty and honor, but have more to do with what you can offer them in terms of finances and even just to have you make up the numbers, you'll become cash cows and drones, which can only lead to downfall. "The power to tax is the power to destroy" someone once said, in our line of business just how true is this? Diaries read of extortionist heads of family reaping high percentages of your rewards, ridiculously high in some cases, and then to the other extreme, leaders who would take the policy of no taxation whatsoever, where is the balance, what is the balance if any? Do you feel undermined when you have nothing to show at the end of the day, even though you made the effort or are you satisfied at the old clichthat if your boss is wealthy, you are also safer in the grand scheme of things, which lets face it, isn't true, as generally those in power will fall sooner rather than later no matter what, leaving you homeless, broke and unprotected. What's the limit? Would you speak out behind closed doors at what you deem unacceptable taxes? If in a position of power, would you feel justified to tax to extremes? Should each potential family have a business model planned? I'm interested to break bread and hear people's thoughts on this matter as it affects all of the community, positive experiences and bad. If you've enjoyed this, please feel inclined to forward $10 to my accountant, if not, $4.95 and a complaint will be accepted. |

Wealth: Wealthy You seem to be doing alright for yourself. You sound pretty selfish. I'm done here... All angry and that. Walks off shaking his head! |

"Would you speak out behind closed doors at what you deem unacceptable taxes?" If I wanted a quick death this would be one way to go about it. My god do people forget why we are all here? This isn't about making money for yourself, yes a certain amount of your earnings can be tucked away for a rainy day, but really what are you going to do with it? I'll tell you what, you'll sit back and look at it getting bigger and think to yourself OMG I HAVE ALL THIS MONEY I MUST BE GREAT!!! When in fact your not really, money is an easy thing to come by in our world and to be honest couts for very very little. |

There is no correct "business model", one person could have a perfect model for themselves but the same model might not suit everyone as we are all different and there are too many outside factors. If there is something bothering you with how your leader is doing business, depending on who the leader is, it normally is ok to have a discussion with them to say how you feel about the family. As long as you are respectful it is normally ok. You can never tax too much or too little. You have to adjust the tax rate depending on your family. If they regularly donate up the chain of command then tax can normally be quite low as you gain money all the same. If your crew are greedy and only have themselves in mind then tax the hell out of them just to teach them a lesson. I think I touched on most of the stuff you said, if not...oh well. |

Let me start off by saying I hate you. I really do. Do you have any idea how this thing of ours works? We are not independent contractors. It should be up to each individual to judge for themselves what they are to do with their capital What? OMF FFS we are in the mafia! Sigh. Ok, this is how it works. Pay attention because I might start killing people who cannot understand this BASIC shit... A mob boss runs a certain territory of land, known as his "patch" or his "turf". He might also control certain operations, such as certain gambling rings or drug rings, protection rackets (usually the businesses on his patch). Of the territory and operations he runs, he can designate certain individuals, usually associates (those who are not mademen yet) to do the grunt work...collecting the money, running security, enforcement, deliveries, etc. These associates usually knew somebody to get the privilege of doing that work for the Boss. It is their "foot in the door" to the family. Any crime that gets done on this patch without family involvement, or any competing operations on this patch will incur the wrath of the mafia Boss. So, basically, if you plan on making a career as a criminal, you better do it for the local family, or you will probably end up wearing cement shoes. So the punk gets to do some work for the family. Does he get to keep the money he brings in? FUCK NO! That's the Bosses' money. He might get a small cut after he gives a taste to the Mademan who he works under. The Mademan must then pay his Capo, who in turn pays the Boss. So, considering all funds get sent up in this direction, you can imagine how tiny the associate's cut is. He is working more for acceptance into the family than for personal profit. If you cannot grasp this style of life, then compare it to an internship in the legitimate business world that your line of thinking seems trapped in. It is NOT up to each individual what they do with "their" capital, because anything they collect "on the job" is not THEIR capital to begin with. It belongs to the Boss. The Boss controls all operations and receives all the money. Those who do the dirty work are only entitled to a small cut. As you move up the family, your cut gets bigger. The way some people think around here is that they work for themselves, and might sometimes throw a dime towards the Boss to keep him or her happy. Idiots. ...have more to do with what you can offer them in terms of finances and even just to have you make up the numbers, you'll become cash cows and drones, which can only lead to downfall. Cash cows? Drones? These very terms are ridiculous when applied to the mafia. Just what in the fuck do you expect to be? You are not a fucking Wall Street investment banker. You are a fucking criminal working for a powerful overlord. Oh, did you not get your 401k plan and vacation pay this year? Oh, downfall? Are you fucking joking me? This is just so ignorant. THIS IS HOW THE MAFIA WORKS! MONEY FLOWS UP, SHIT FLOWS DOWN! How can the very NATURE of our business operation lead to its downfall? If you cannot understand how the mafia works, then what in the frying fuck are you doing in this business? I hate you. I hate you all so very much. A peanut in a turd has more understanding of the mafia than the mass majority here. Please die now. |

The Pig is right, to an extent, I would say. You as a mafioso work for the family and must pay tribute accordingly. You should be gracious as to whatever income you reap working for the powerful family heads. Our organization is built on far more than just money and though it is a driving factor in our world power and respect are far more important in our way of life. |

You are correct in the sense that you do have the right to decide what you should be doing with your capital. However, and this is a big however, don't be surprised if when you decide not to pay tribute to your boss (You remember, that person that offered you a job when you needed it, that guy who keeps you safe) well your Boss might just send someone to tell you just what he thinks about your unwillingness to part with money. You can stand on your principles and never progress anywhere in our world, It's a simple fact that families require money to function, they shouldn't have to be made to feel as if they are raping their members every time you donate or earn money for them. You joined them, you should have done your due diligence about the family before joining. Want to change things? Go ahead, stay unsponsored and cling to your money, you'll be a shining example of what happens to the selfish. My ancestry has been around these streets for many many years and If I have learned one thing, look after your family and they will look after you. Maybe you won't reap the benefits, maybe your son will. Pledging life, limb and financial support is what is expected of you, doing this doesn't make you special, it makes you like many others. Earn your place in your family, show that you are willing to put the work in, as honestly from what I've heard, If I were a leader I would not want some one with your attitude in my family. However that is just my opinion. *tips his hat and wanders back to work* |
