One Day At A Time - ( A Multi Part Tale) Started by: Philosophical_Psycho on Sep 10, '08 12:45
Timeline - 7 months prior to the events in Moonlit Revenge

A forecast of snow was about to cover the skyline. The sun only hours from setting. A typical day in a Chicago winter. But nothing about this was typical, no, this day someone's life was about to change forever.

"Grimont! Lets go!"

Grimont came running out the back of the house and into the passenger seat of the car. As I floored the accelerator we could hear the on coming sirens. We had cut it close almost too close.

"And what the FUCK took you so long? huh!"

Grim, clearly out of breath must have met some "resilience" while in the house.

"Look Phil, there were more there then we had planned, you friggin' lucky we got the job done."

As I round the corner to hit the back road to Grim's place I notice lights in my rear view.

"Son of a Bitch Grim, we got company..."

Luckily for us it was starting to get dark. I sped along the road until I saw an old trail slightly overgrown. I slowed just enough so that I wouldn't leave marks while pulling in and I pulled the car out of sight and turned her off waiting for the cops to pass.

"and just how many were there?" I whispered like a retard, I guess I thought if I spoke the cops would hear me over the sirens..

"24"

"20 god damn 4 are you friggin' kiddin' me? They said 6.. 6 people.. not 24!"

"Phil, you think it was a set up?"

The thought had crossed my mind, something just didn't feel right, but Grim was the best the Buffalo Don had. No way would they rub him out like that.. just no way.

"Prolly just some bad info, with as many hits as we carry out it is bound to happen. Besides if it was a setup it just goes to show why we are the best at what we do.

After about a half hour of sitting there I figured we were in the free and clear. We pulled out and headed to Grim's place in the heart of a densely wooded area.

"You know this better be a nice pay off, Grim."

"Don't worry, word through the grapevine is when they open the books again I'll be at the top of the list."

I smiled, for years my friend has busted his ass and risked life and limb for his family. It was nice to hear, even if it was just word of mouth, that he might finally get his big break.

"Well, I need some shut eye. At least here we can get some rest. Catch ya in the a.m. Grim."

This is a prime piece of work!

I would like everyone to take notice of the preceding "journal entry," if you will, in the life of one of our most successful, respected, and influential associates. The 30s...I tell you, it's a new world; and with the new inventions that make everything so easy and automatic, it is rare that we see a glimpse of the blood, sweat, and tears that go into this thing of ours. I think examples like this are important for the youngsters to see, to show them that it's not as easy as "the push of a button." They want their button? They gotta earn it- show the elders what they're doing and put some effort into it. Philosophical Psycho didn't get to where he is today by only keeping to the everyday petty shit.
