| The Ability to Pickpocket a Gun | Started by: Shax on Sep 13, '12 22:10 |

My suggestion is that you can have the ability to use your PP skill to steal the gun of another player. This idea came to me thankfully with the help of this thread here
http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/273788
What it could be is the pickpocket skill could have a 5% chance to pickpocket the gun off of another player. This would be very useful during a war situation.
Example 1: Say you know Mr. RHM has the best gun in the family and he is looking to shoot your CL or GF, you pickpocket him and he loses his gun, giving your family or shooters to shoot Mr RHM and possibly saving your CL/GF.
Example 2: Example 1 just happened and Mr. RHM now needs a gun, who does he go to to get one? A low level member of the family who relinquishes his gun to the armory and gives it right back to MR. RHM who now can shoot again. Instead of letting the lower rank relinquish his gun, you pickpocket the gun from the low level member which will not allow MR. RHM to get another gun without doing the petties or getting it from another member.
These are just some examples of how it could be useful. Now i know what a lot of people will be saying with it being part of the PP skill. Everyone who is PP friendly will occasionally lose their gun and cause massive uproar within the community against PPing. Yes i realize this. Which is why I propose this to counteract that arguement.
Just like the ability to wack a player or a bodyguard, create the ability to distinguish which you would like to do. Make it consume the PP timer just like shooting a BG or attacking a fortification uses up the Attack timer. It could be trained (on durdens and MIAs, RIAs) to work from say 5% of the time to a max of 20% of the time in order to not make it so powerful and unbalanced that during a war nobody has a gun to shoot because they all got stolen by other families. Just a small percentage in order to possibly get lucky and change the fate of the war.
In order to stop from every person in the game from PPing the gun off of one person all at the same time in order to make sure the gun gets taken make it so it is like Proing. If somebody tries it within 4 hours of the previous PP attempt then they will not be allowed to PP their gun.
As a final touch any gun that gets PPed goes into your family's personal Armory (assuming that they have access to it) which would create a stockpile for times of need. Although a cap of the number of guns allowed in the armory would have to be capped off at a number if there is currently not a cap on it. |

If the chance was low enough but just to the point where it's a credible threat, this seems like it'd be a pretty interesting use for pickpocketing, although I'd see the general skill of pickpocketing being used less if this was implemented on the fear that just casual pickpocketing would remove someone's gun. I'm split on sponsoring this - I'd like to hear from a few more people, if possible. |

Interesting idea, but I wouldn't put it in the game. If pickpocketing carries the risk of taking someone's gun, then every account would be pp unfriendly, which would remove the need for pp at all. |

Thats the idea though. The usuall PP skill that takes the gun away uses the same experience gained from PPing money, although it is a different option just like wacking a player and wacking a BG. Two different options. Not 2 types of pickpocket with the chance to do both. |

Wacking a BG or wacking a player aren't two different options, they are simply two different targets. |

Yes that is what i am suggesting TyrionLannister. Also to discourage the PPing of a gun a simple solution to stop people from being PP unfriendly in general is for the CL's to simply create new city rules against PPing the gun. |

But then no-one would allow gun pp'ing. It would make it a rather unused feature, don't you think? |

It could be used in other times Joey, for wars etc. |

The problem with any pickpocketing suggestion is how do you prevent leaders from employing a blanket "No PPing" policy. The second it becomes a viable threat to you to let people train on you, your members or your CAs, I can't see leaders allowing people to develop this skill. |

What times other than wars? I think wars are good as it is. We don't need pp a gun feature. |

Grin, nail on the head pal. it will simply be a case of cl's stopping another game feature of such nature. I agree, it is an interesting suggestion, one that could give game play a little extra but it simply isnt a feature that will be allowed to be used. |
