Toolbar Achievement Settings Started by: GoldenGun on Oct 25, '12 15:03

I like when you get the countdown for aquiring a gun on the game with toolbar. What I was thinking was that it would be interesting if you were to go to your achievements and you were to see something along the lines of this..

Steal 25 Purses (Final) *Set Goal on toolbar*

Shaft A Schlub Con 25 Poor Schlubs *Set Goal on toolbar*

Shop Shyster Extort 25 Shop Owners *Set Goal on toolbar*

K.O. The P.O. Knock Over 50 Post Offices *Set Goal on toolbar*

Marijuana Mover Full Load Sold At A Profit 5x *Set Goal on toolbar*

Clicking on *Set Goal on toolbar* would then give a countdown timer on how many you had left to do to finish your achievement.

*I think a bit more thought could go into what it says beside the achievements which could be discussed here*

I don't see how this could get annoying at all as you don't actually have to use the feature if you don't want too.. Also I can't see it being an unused feature as everyone wants to reach certain achievements for the prizes at the end.

With this system I thought that it would certaintly give people a little more motivation to reach the target, it always motivates me to get rid of the +75 when I'm working on getting rid of my gun.

With it comes another wanted feature that will make players want to spend 5 credits for the toolbar.

Now another question I've been asking myself was how many targets could you set at once? I don't think it would be wise being able to set too many maximum being one or two? Another thing to be discussed?

All feedback will be appreciated

Honestly - i do believe it does have some incentive here.. I'm more motivated when i know how close i am to something , or that i want to average x percent a day of something

+1 buddy :)

But 5 credits for the extra addition? Maybe one or two , but i wouldn't pay five.

I didn't mean that it would cost 5 credits for the extra addition, I just meant that it costs 5 credits for the toolbar and that the addition of the achievement countdown would come along with that. Making the toolbar have yet another addition and another reason to pay 5 credits for it

I'm not sure how I feel about this as an addition. You have nowhere else to go on the site to see how many petties you have to go to get your gun. You do, however have an entire page already dedicated to all your achievement percents.

Valid point. Although I know that you could simply click on the achievement page to see how far you have to go to reach the achievement I thought it would help drive players to achieve that goal had they a countdown showing them how far they had to go.

When you have the counter for your gun does it not motivate you a little more to reach the end of those 75 petty crimes?

My aim is not for players to become lazy and avoid visiting the achievement page, infact it's the opposite, I think it would encourage players to reach their milestones. With the countdown as a bit of extra support, to see where there at, I think people will in turn be proud to go to their achievements page to see what they have earned for their hard work.

I actually really like the sound of this and I would find it a welcome addition the the timers package.

Woah. Thanks very much PC-Ter for backing my suggestion. Very much appreciated.

I'm a fan of this too. I think you're right and it probably would encourage people to strive towards their chosen achievement a little bit more.

I like this Idea, what better way to mativate someone to work harder on their achievements than this.

Personally, it'd probably inch me towards giving a bit of extra effort into my achievements instead of giving up midway and crying in self-pity. Also, I can't see much of an issue with coding this, as I imagine it wouldn't be too cumbersome. Good idea.

Thankyou PC-ralph!

I really do hope this is voted into the game as I also need some help to motivate me to get through these achievements without giving up half way through.

I agree with you 100% GG, excellent suggestion. I'm somewhat scatter brained, and despite going to the achievements page to see how I'm doing, after a few crimes, felonies, pps and OCs I kinda forget what I was doing. Kudos to you, you smart puppy.

I've liked this idea since it was first posted, so I decided to hunt it out and give it my first sponsor :)

I feel many players would be motivated by this; it is no bad thing to be able to keep track of certain achievements, especially if you're willing to pay a credit for doing so. Those who don't care for the feature don't need to use it.

All round thumbs up!

I think that motivation to play the game more is something everyone can appreciate. I don't have any negative feelings towards this suggestion except: it may clutter the timer toolbar just slightly. But I'm more than confident in Enkindle's ability to fit it up there and make it look good.

Another part of this is that on the achievements page there is no set 'number til completion' just a bar with a percentage. I know that doing some quick math can give you a number - but i like the fact that this suggestion cuts out a lot of needless and tedious work. It also makes a great motivator - as a new player achievements are tangible roadmarks and rewards to you work on the game, and an added 'immediate gratification' of seeing that number tick down with each crime should add some satisfaction (however small) to gameplay (especially for new players)
