This just makes no sense to me. Started by: Phil_Steak on Nov 06, '12 16:24

Why are there CAs in jail?
If an officer is arrested, it is safe to say, he no longer has a badge.
I think we need to eliminate CAs from jails.
I know they add to the overall count of users in jail for crackdown purposes, but it just makes no sense to me.

I say we remove CAs from being throw in jail during crackdowns.

Couldn't agree more.

Can this be a bug fix rather than a full PC discussion? I don't think it is really merited here.

Report Post Tip

You're right, it doesn't really make any sense, but the entire crackdown idea doesn't make that much sense anyway really. Every offline account is thrown into jail during a crackdown (including citizens?)

From a roleplaying perspective you are correct, this makes no sense to me either. I wouldn't be opposed to doing away with CA's being put in jail during crackdowns, but then you have to view the entire crackdown aspect - do you want to include civilians, why aren't online players included (or even specifically targetted) during a crackdown?

Citizens and corrupt agents being thrown in jail during crackdowns dont make sense, but without the two of them - what would the numbers for a crackdown end up looking like? I would be interested in seeing those figures before just altering the crackdown code as a 'bug fix' and not seeing it at least be talked about and voted through the PC

Including CAs

New York 117
Philadelphia 120
Las Vegas 120
Los Angeles 120
New Orleans 120
Chicago 120
Detroit 120

Not including CAs
New York 99
Philadelphia 120
Las Vegas 97
Los Angeles 114
New Orleans 120
Chicago 120 15
Detroit 93 15

So the city with 1 crew and the unpopulated city are the only ones that are effected. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Question, do Durdens still show up in jails if there is a crackdown? Removing CAs will allow for more Durdens to be jailed, no?
Don't know if that's a Pro or a Con... you could take it either way I guess.

Report Post Tip

Well, it makes 4 cities below 120, where as with the CAs, only 1 city is below 120.

Report Post Tip

You did some editing to your post?

I could have sworn I saw different numbers earlier...

Report Post Tip

I thought i saw a different number set as well, but i believe it had more ofa  breakdown (admins - civilian split)

Report Post Tip

I re-ran the numbers, and then listed just the number of members being thrown in, removing the other numbers.

Report Post Tip

well, it does kindof screw up the numbers, which is a bummer, but like Phil_Steak said, it makes no sense from a real life perspective... then again the crackdown idea isn't that rooted in real life anyway.

Report Post Tip

But since there are admins to be calculated into the jails, they do end up totaling 120... no?

Report Post Tip

Currently they total up to 135 with the admins...

So, it would be those numbers, plus the fifteen, making the total

that 120 number is 'players' not including admins (from what i see on spend page)

Report Post Tip

I see nothing wrong with a corrupt officer spending a night in the cells after a little too much to drink.

I am definitely interested in this and feel like Phil brings up a very valid point. Why would a cop be put into the jail? However before I sponsor this, I would like to hear more public opinions, as it would affect the jail sizes.

Report Post Tip

I'm torn on this. I can see where Phil is coming from in the sense that CAs shouldn't be in jail; Hell, employing a CA keeps YOU out of jail, why can't they keep their own ass out?

However.. is there a point where we look at things from purely a game perspective and not just realism? The CAs being in jail helps the users by filling the jails with half decent ranks instead of being bogged down with loads of 0's. The question the users need to ask is whether they want to sacrifice those extra 6's for the sake of adding a bit more realism.

Personally, I think I side with Phil on this, so i'm going to go ahead and sponsor it.

Why would a cop be put into the jail?

Too much to drink

Wrong city so no friends to keep him out

Speeding violations

Bar brawl

take your pick

Report Post Tip

Why does your CA from LA keep you out of PH jail, then?

If he has enough influence to keep you out, why can't he keep himself out?
