Neon had made her way out of her HQ and was taking a stroll down the streets. She was in need of some time away from all the work she had on her desk. Being cooped up in her office was beginning to make her brain turn into moosh.

Brushing her blue hair out of her face, she noticed a bar up ahead. This would be a good place to take some weight off her shoulders. Have a couple drinks and relax, at least that was her plan. Once she headed inside she could tell that there was a heated discussion going on amongst some men. The hardest part was trying not to hear what they were saying.

These men were arguing about who was the better man. One had wealth and power, but felt he was better than the rest of the men, the other had a wonderful family and tried to show how they were all right in their own way, and the last was an exceptional speaker that could make you believe any lie, which was fooling them all into thinking he had more that the few dollars he had left in his pocket.

While they argued, Neon sipped on her drink. She heard each man's argument, and then began to study them. That was when a quote that she had read came to mind.

"If you want to know what a man's like, take a look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals"

Granted, this quote didn't go exactly with the situation, but the man in the middle stuck out. He tried to show them that they are all good men, he didn't look down on any of them, while the other two spat at each other like they were scum.

This bothered Neon, she had seen it many times before. Where men and women treated people that they felt were below them like trash. They used and abused them for what they wanted, but never gave anything in return. Yet, when it came to someone just as powerful as them, they acted like they were friends, threw some jokes around, and treated them like a human being.

There were a few people she knew that respected others, even if their rank or income was not equal to theirs. They looked past their so called “importance” and treated them like a friend, an equal, or even like family.

As she watched, her face began to turn into a frown, her heart started to fall into her stomach and she realized that there were plenty more people out there like this.

They had forgot that they started out “inferior”, and it wasn't until that one person that treated people equally, that they were able to become more than that.

Neon thought to herself, “We all start out as nobodies, trash, 'inferior', but it's that one person that makes all the difference, if only more people could see that, and treat others as they would want to be treated.”

Leaving the money on the table, she left the bar, and headed back to do more work. She would rather stare at a thousand papers than continue to hear such selfish talk.

Pausing for a moment, she had another thought cross her mind, “Can people ever open their closed minds and realize this?”
