Before I start, let me just say that I know that you'll be short on high rankers to do this immediately, but we all know that is only a short-term problem. Auth a LOT of people. Three or four crews per city preferably, or maybe two crews with a Captain each. "But ted, the numbers of Mafioso on our shores at the moment means that we could never fill so many HQs!" Which is kinda the point. Giving people so much choice of who to join means that it isn't a choice between two or three leaders who have a couple of spaces left, and joining the first one to show themselves in public - but a real decision based on who they like the look of. "But ted, how could they possibly decide who they like the look of?" Well, given that people would have to actually compete for members, not just gain them as an automatic right for setting up (how many times have we seen auths held back until xxxxx's HQ has filled up a bit?) It would, in effect, force leaders to maintain a public presence, or at least be considerably more active with regard to mails and getting to know people than they have been of late. "But ted, it makes sense for us to want to fill our HQs as quickly as possible for the strength having a full HQ gives us." Yes, yes it does - however, it strikes me that Leaders should have an eye toward what's good for the whole country, not just their only little corner of it. (Apologies for drifting a little OOC here) The gods have been rewarding those who participate in their publicity schemes for some time now. What? 12 other places? Over the last few months potentially hundreds of new bloodlines have been coming to these shores - and yet the population hasn't been rising exponentially as it should, so one is forced to ask themselves why that is so. Logically it follows that there has been something wrong with the approach to our life, there's not been enough happening to keep these people interested. This suggestion, if implemented, would mean that there is just more of everything. More Leaders means more inter-crew interaction, which in turn means more politics, more negotiations, more competition, more... well, everything really. There are other plus sides too; there would almost never be a time that there wasn't a CL or RH online. It would mean that many people new to a leadership role could realistically expect a bump - say SCLs having a go at being an RHM for the first time. "But ted, many crews often leads to instability!" Yes, yes it does. But it also means that a war needn't involve half of the population (wars on the scale we've seen over the last few days are rare if we're honest), meaning there are more likely to be high ranks around to set up should one or two leaders fall in a war. In addition, as much as some hate to admit it, wars are fun! They are without doubt the most exciting time in the life of any Mafioso, sure, there's plenty of other things to do to keep oneself amused, but our world developed from being just a street for people to chat on a long time ago - living like the other stuff doesn't exist is counter-productive. I am sure many will be able to find the downsides to this idea. It is just that, and idea from a gangster who will be dead shortly and not returning for a while (many of you know the reasons why, those that don't, well, I guess it doesn't concern you, and it certainly has nothing to do with the content of this speech). I just ask you to give it fair consideration as a new and potentially beneficial way of doing business. |

| This is the kinda thinking were missing. Ive always said more is better, when we have a few people that can actualy buy HQs, it would be nice to see the right ones owning a little section of one of the cities :) | |

This is something that everyone should keep in mind for the future. It echoes an idea that an old ancestor of mine tried to implement, but never was unable to achieve due to ending up on the wrong end of a gun. There is really no reason why we cannot have several smaller families as opposed to fewer larger ones. The advantages should be obvious. More diversity, more politics, smaller families means the members become more acquainted, more competition, etc etc etc. Like Ted said, a CL has a responsibility for the general direction of the seven cities, not just their own niche. It has been a long time since we have seen anyone try to implement a new and original foundation for life here. |

I completely 100% support this idea and encourage others to feel the same way to put pressure on the crew leaders to act now! Let's get a grassroots movement going! MORE CREWS!!!! |
