So, here we are in the aftermath of a crazy weekend.

First off, let me congratulate Marietta on a war well fought, she earnt her position as the only remaining Don. My father couldn't hit her from 3 attempts and she hit him on the 2nd effort, good job and best of luck. I'm sure you will give more to the community than Iris and Daera ever did from their lofty perch. More on that later.

So, why did my father do what he did? Most of you won't be interested, but a couple might, so I'll elaborate on his behalf. Note, this is not representative of the thoughts of Don Mont or Don Branston's line, only Caligula's. He left the following note, written not long before Marietta shot him in the chops.

"The main reason for this was that Iris and Daera, whether intentional or not, were choking the life from this thing. There was nothing more personal in it than that. This thing of ours had been stale for a while now and was crying out for them to be removed. I had initially thought that the stagnancy would be righted after Don Alessia attacked The Java Cartel and was taken out with relative ease. However, fast forward 48 hours and the lacklustre guidance of the community continued. On the whole, people, whether they will admit it now or not, were getting disenchanted with life in this thing of ours. Things were stale beyond belief.

Yes, Iris and Daera let people rank well and train guns, but honestly, there was nothing else coming from them in terms of progressing things. Personally, I don't think it helps anyone to have have the whole contingent holding hands, playing nice and sitting back savouring their (self-perceived) greatness and basking in the recognition that comes with being a CL. There has to be a little more foresight than that and it was wildly lacking in my opinion.

Not for one second am I saying that I was the person that was the great hope, it takes a huge amount of time and dedication, the first of which is not available to me. However, I was one of the people who could do something about the situation where, as I saw it, CLs were resting on their laurels. Plod along and watch mediocrity at work, or do something about it. I would choose the same option every time. I have little doubt that Mont and Branston, if they had somehow survived would have done a better job than the previous incumbents.

I have seen the term nepotism thrown around quite loosely, even as recent as today, but it's a word that is quite fitting for Iris really. Her RHM's bloodline might well be good for this thing of ours overall, but the amount of shit he got away with was ridiculous. None more so than shooting willy nilly at people who upset him, or were annoying him in the coffee shops. Every single time, Iris fell in line, backed him up and dished out no punishment.

FlyingPig would probably tell us that they ran the show, they made the rules, no-one else. To be honest, none of that bothered me, nor was it my concern. However, when he starts shooting my members (Iris' members, yes it's semantics) for nothing and without mentioning it to me or my RH/LH until after the event, or slating me/my HS because one of them, shock horror, had asked for an IA list....then maybe it was time for the rules to change if I had the power to do it. Iris had most definitely lost control of The Ego.

Another partial reason for this was the straight-forward grasp at power, as Branston said, no doubt about it and I don't think there is shame in that either. This is the mafia, it happens. I had requested my own city with a formal request to Iris almost as soon as I turned Don. In this thing of ours, I do not believe anyone should be Don without their own city, more so when cities are sitting empty. That prompted me to make the request, which I heard very little back from over a couple of weeks.

Of course, lets be honest, we all know Iris needed my gun and those of my family members (yes, those would be her members again) under her umbrella. Why would she let me go, I might end up warring her down the line...

As I say, plodding along with the status quo was an option, but if I don't like something and I have the power to change it, then I am not the sort to be subservient. That works well when moving up the tree, not when you are nearing the top.

Above all in the last short while, I wanted Daera and Iris out of power. I was willing to risk my life for this and, ultimately, the lives of my exceptional family members. The decision was not taken lightly, there were many hours of hard work had gone into forming the family and there was going to be many great members lost, but they, for the most part, knew what was coming in advance and none of them even hinted at anything but supporting me.

I have lost some great friends and allies and their efforts will not be forgotten, even as I stroll down RL avenue for some much needed time away from this thing of ours. You know who you are, so thank you, even in death, it's a job well done. You were fucking exceptional.

To Iris and Daera: As we all know, people within these shores can be very immature at times, losing sight of the fact that it's a game. Yes, we had the power to cause chaos and yes, we did. People died (most people, unfortunately as the situation developed), but fuck me, if you are not prepared for the loss at some point, save the bother and don't put months into it in the first place.

Good to see you down here with me, this is what I most desired, I'm filled with two feelings at the moment. Relief, that RL Avenue awaits and a weight's been lifted. Joy, that we pulled it off and your behemoth families fell.

To Branston and Mont: You lads know what you mean to me, it was an absolute honour to stand by your side. I wish you could have made it through, though I can't help but smile when I think of what we did anyway. It was a blast.

To my friends: Too many to list, but if you think I'm possibly referring to you, I probably am. I've had nothing but fun throughout and it wouldn't have been that way without all of you. No doubt catch up in the coffee shops! Apologies where necessary for those that died as part of this.

It's nice that you're sharing the thoughts of your father. Although not everybody will be agree, but I admire the willingness of Caligula to sacrifice his family for his thoughts.
Report Post Tip
While I share your views that things may have been stagnant, there are other things your father should have considered. First of all, his duty of loyalty to his Boss. He was a Captain, nothing more. You repeatedly referred to "his family". It was not his family, it was Iris' family. You were a Captain. And no, it's not semantics. Some words have precise definitions. A Captain is another word for what we often refer to as a "Subcrew Leader". It is another word for "Capo", or a Mademan who manages a group of family members and reports to the Boss. It is NOT the same thing as a Boss, and therefore it was NOT his family. Semantics? Not hardly. This is one reason why noobs should not be given positions of authority. There are basic fundamentals that must be learned first, otherwise they make decisions based on an incorrect understanding of hierarchy, structure, and protocol.

I also find it quite ironic that you accused FlyingPig of going around shooting things "willy nilly". What do you call your little coup d'etat of the last two days? If you are doing it, it is a crusade to steer the ship in the right direction, but if FP shoots a few people who have it coming, it is "willy nilly"? FP had more authority than you did to make decisions about who should be killed and who shouldn't. Speaking of egos, you seem to have elevated your father to the level of CL. Newsflash, again, he was a subcrew leader. FlyingPig was the RHM of the family and was above Caligula in the family structure. If he felt your members needed punishing, so be it. Iris did not lose control of The Ego. "The Ego" was always under control. It is your ignorance of how things work in La Cosa Nostra that gave you your perspective on how things should have been done. Contact you or your RHM before killing one of your members? Why? You were subordinate to FP and to Iris. Also, you expect someone to wait around for you two to show up when there is an immediate threat? Again, showing your ignorance and noob colors.

As far as chastising your member for asking for an IA list, let me make this loud and clear...

Perhaps I should retrieve FP's speech on what it takes to be a hitman. It is more than sitting on your ass, letting others do the work, and being a clickmonkey. Someone who is a Capo hitter should not need to have a CL or RHM do their work for them. Flying Pig tried teaching these things to those around him and tried restoring the pride, work ethic, and accomplishment that goes along with being a hitman. Some, in their own arrogance, chose not to listen. I suppose, if you know more than FP does about being a hitman, you have no need to listen. Do you fit that description? I guess it is a new day and age, and his old school values are no longer of any importance. Go on then, click away! In doing so, take away any sense of worth that can be earned by becoming an accomplished hitman.

Caligula was given a chance to prove his capabilities, despite being wet behind the ears and one of the biggest mutes around for his rank. He felt he deserved more. He didn't. He was still ignorant to the ways of life here, even ignorant to his own position in this thing of ours, ungrateful for the opportunities he was given, an invisible presence in the streets, unwilling to learn from the more experienced, and, beyond that, unwilling to listen to explanations when they were given to them. But...I guess...that's why your coup failed.

I have no problem with the actions of Branston or Mont. They did not have the duty of loyalty that Caligula had. They tried to seize power, and I respect that. That is part of life in the mafia. I actually applaud them for having the nuts to attempt to seize the carp. Caligula, on the other hand, does not have my respect. I almost feel sorry for him. In his stubborn noobness, he may have ruined his bloodline's reputation. When loyalty is owed, and then betrayed, it is a stigma that does not go away easily. Mont and Branston owed loyalty to no one, which is why they are not subject to the same scrutiny. Caligula's actions are not much different from a RHM who HQ wacks his entire crew. The Java Cartel was Caligula's family, despite his perception that he was his own Boss. He set out to attack and kill his own family. For this, it will be a long time before anyone places trust in his bloodline.

Hit the nail on the head there, Hoops. Without doubt the dullest and least dynamic sustained period of 'leadership' we've had for a long time.

We had some great laughs on IRC and you have became a great friend of mine and the whole Mocha sydicate ride back with Mikado leading the way has been great and my family line wont forget it.

The war caused many deaths including my fathers but he wouldnt have had it any other way. I have lost many friends of late and for them I say Rest In Peace but we died doing what we loved, working as a family.

You most certainly shook the foundations of the streets with your actions and I am sure that it will be rememberd. Hoopi my friend your a legend and I wish you all the best in RL avenue. No matter whats said about this ill always remember last weekend for the good times and the fight until the very last breath.

I like how you have titled this poster. C'est La Vie, also known as thats life. Well yes your right there but you father has shown that his Life was without honour and respect. He was given an oppertunity to run a subcrew for Iris, not a family.

When he reached the rank of Don his ego obviously kicked in and he thought that he deserved more than he(as this little affair ahs shown) was not worth.

Yes there are those who will back your father on what he did, but there are others who will see through the "semantics" they will see that Iris was betrayed by her own captain and her own family.

Since when do you tell your boss that you want your own family? Your father should have been thankfull for the chance he was given, I'm reminded of old converstations in the street where rank verus worth has been defeated. Your father showed that while he had the rank, he didn't have the balls to be worthy of his rank. I feel sorry for you in a way, with this action your father has potentially damaged your bloodline for a very long time to come.

Hi "Hi",

Firstly, love the condescending approach, it's always worked well so no need to change now. Having started back in the STAE days, I don't consider myself a noob, but for the purposes of your chit chat, whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy is good.

There are basic fundamentals that must be learned first, otherwise they make decisions based on an incorrect understanding of hierarchy, structure, and protocol.

I perfectly understand the concepts you list. As you so often like to remind people, this is the Mafia. Has there never been an instance where someone has been disloyal? Are all mafioso good loyal boys? If you think yes, you are sadly mistaken. Anyway, to re-iterate, it turns out it was semantics. Did you miss something?

I also find it quite ironic that you accused FlyingPig of going around shooting things "willy nilly". What do you call your little coup d'etat of the last two days? If you are doing it, it is a crusade to steer the ship in the right direction, but if FP shoots a few people who have it coming, it is "willy nilly"?

I call the little coup d'etat a grab at power, I call it an effort to rid myself of a choke point in this world or I call it something that was crying out to be done. Regardless of whether that fits within your rules structure, I don't particularly think it's comparable to a coffee shop hissy fit followed by a flex of your muscle.

FlyingPig was the RHM of the family and was above Caligula in the family structure. If he felt your members needed punishing, so be it.

Spot on. That's why there was never strong complaint from me. I knew my place. I also knew my power, and decided to take action. So be it.

Also, you expect someone to wait around for you two to show up when there is an immediate threat? Again, showing your ignorance and noob colors.

Immediate threat? Get a hold of yourself, please.

As far as chastising your member for asking for an IA list, let me make this loud and clear...

Perhaps I should retrieve FP's speech on what it takes to be a hitman. It is more than sitting on your ass, letting others do the work, and being a clickmonkey. As I said, I know you like to play the old, tired, hitman routine, all the experience in the world. We know, we have heard it. If it makes you feel better, I'm happy for you to pretend I didn't have it in me, the truth is out there.

Ignorant to my position? I was captain, what relevance does my street presence have in that role? I'm not there to ponder to the masses. Make your mind up sunshine.

Unwilling to learn from the more experienced? What was it you tried to teach me as I floundered through this life, I missed it, clearly. Our "more experienced" leader sat back and watched, waited, despite several attempts to warn her that an attack would happen eventually from Alessia. That resulted in the loss of her then Captain, Kangaroo. Speaking of which, I did alright that day for someone lacking the true hitman values and traditions of your bloodline eh. Oh wait, that's right, I'm not that new (we'll keep it up though, makes you look wiser).

But...I guess...that's why your coup failed.

It failed in the sense that there were too many deaths, and that Mont and Branston died, I agree. It was overwhelmingly successful in other areas, such as the removal of Daera and Iris. Personally, that was my primary concern, not to survive.

I have no problem with the actions of Branston or Mont.

Finally, we agree.

They did not have the duty of loyalty that Caligula had. They tried to seize power, and I respect that. That is part of life in the mafia.

Indeed it is. My own loyalty ran dry, what can I say. This is part of life in the mafia.

For this, it will be a long time before anyone places trust in his bloodline.

The scrutiny and focus was something I considered beforehand and was prepared for. I am comfortable with it. As for attacking my own family, you missed the bit where I shot Daera, moved into New York and disassociated myself with your family. From the looks of it, most of the members felt their loyalty lay with me and not Iris.

FP, the bottom line is, I had the power to do something and, along with massive help from a lot of people who evidently felt the same, did it.

Dante, I'm sure even Iris will acknowledge I did nothing of the sort (I mean tell her I wanted a city). It was a carefully worded request that was left on her doorstep and not continually chased, nothing more. At no point was I expecting to get a city, merely requesting. I was too useful to get one.
Report Post Tip
Fatality.

Hoopi wins.
Report Post Tip
Hoopi your noobism shows through there. Even a carefully worded request hinting that your father might want more than he had been given is disrespectful enough to those who already gave your father the chance he had.

Your father was working for Iris and owed her his loyalty, it was not his to decided that he would be better off on his own, which by killing Daera and moving into New York he did.

But sure yeah, gloss it up how you will. I just guess my definition of loyalty differs slightly from yours.
Report Post Tip
Maybe they felt you wouldn't know how to buy an HQ.. You know, since you're a "noob" and stuff :S
Report Post Tip
Dante, stop talking pish please. Iris wasn't offended at all, nor is it disrespectful. Infact, my feelings were being made known because I had previously said I did not want full auth. Natter on though.
Report Post Tip
Being a noob isn't necessarily about how long you have been around. I use the term to describe someone who has little understanding of how things work in this thing of ours. Your naivete in some situations gave me that impression of you, for example, your assumption that FygPingLi did not pose a threat to FLyingPig. Someone who has been around the block a few times has seen others use such tactics, and has dealt with the problems that can be caused. Your referal to your subcrew as "your family" told me that you did not understand the difference between a Boss and a Capo. Yes, there IS a difference, and NO, it is NOT semantics. You may as well say the difference between apples and oranges is just semantics. Saying it does not make it true.

Perhaps if your ancestry had been more than a coffee shop presence, you might have more respect from me in terms of your experience. Like I said, Caligula was a mute. Big time. You earn respect in the streets, not the coffee shops. You cannot earn respect in the streets if you never show up there.

My belief that a hitman has to do more than click is something I will always stand by. More and more, I am falling into the minority. When the standards of this place fall so low that my beliefs are not only outdated, but scoffed at, then perhaps it is time for me to move on and leave this place to be inherited by those with a more simplistic approach to this life. Yes, I am a fucking old dog, and I learned from the best. My mentors were BADCHOICE and IronCurtain. I learned from them the ideals that I now try to pass on to others. The adolescent mentality of today's hitters does not mesh well with the old school ideology. You are, in fact, a poster boy for the clickmonkey hitman school of thought.

I will concede that not all mobsters are the poster boys for loyalty. Point taken. Diversity of character personalities makes things more interesting, but that does not mean anyone should trust your bloodline again. If you turn on the one you should be most loyal to, you will turn on anyone. Like I said, Flying Pig was not crazy about the stagnancy that had taken over, nor did he agree with Iris about the non-action regarding Alessia, but his loyalty to his Boss superseded that and he stood by her side. Maybe not all mobsters should be so loyal, but those who do will receive more respect.
Report Post Tip
At no point did I assume he wasn't a threat. For your info, FygPingLi had been discussed between myself and our boss, Iris. Both agreed that an eye would be kept on him, given that it was fairly obvious where the threat there was. That was until Billy Big Baws came on anyway. Another example of Iris bowing to you. As for him being a threat, given the fact that you had perm auth, it would be a fairly straight forward task to rule you out of any shots he took by looking at Iris' personals. On the other hand, why waste the chance of a shot on someone you don't like anyway eh?

Re the captaincy, you completely miss the point. I know there is a difference in the theory of it. However, in practice, if myself and all my members decide there is not, then infact, there is not. This was shown.

You're right about the streets though, did it matter ultimately? No, job still done.

Yet again, it was good to hear about your old school background. Even better that you consider me the click monkey hitman type, it must hurt to go down to something that I had a hand in and helped plan....what with me not fully understanding the fundamentals of this thing you call a...hitman was it? You are far from the only person that understands these things FP, despite what you like to tell yourself and the image you try to project.

Finally, yep, there is no doubt loyalty is commendable. But I'd have though and old head like yourself would realise that blind loyalty has no place in the mafia? *shrug* You might be right, maybe it is time for you to move on, who knows.

Ok im tired of reading alot of this I just joined in. I got to say though I did see alot of crying of OMG hoopi you betrayed Iris the thing is in the Mafia or in money not only mafia there is greed.
