CL, Sponsor, Associate related. Two ideas. Started by: Jaqen_Hghar on Nov 28, '12 20:36

What is your idea?

Adding a "transfer to your HQ" option in the crew page for "sponsored" associates. And the second, making it so that deceased (suicided/dead) associates in a sponsors profile disappear after 72h.

Has your idea already been suggested in some form or another before?

Not that I could find by searching the suggestions forum.

What does your idea entail?

The first is about giving a leader the option to transfer an Associate from a Sponsor within their family into the leaders HQ, thus placing the Associate directly under said leader than under the Sponsor. The reason for this is that sponsors can only invite a specific amount of people under them, and if I had a choice when one of my sponsors is full, I would rather transfer an associate under me than have to shoot them for being InActive for a week or longer. The only way I know how to do this right now is by completely screwing over the sponsor, which is taking their sponsorship and putting ALL their associates under me, and then giving sponsorship back to them... but we should be able to have a choice here, not everyone is going to add every Made+ in their family as a sponsor, especially not me as I have a certain way of running my family when it comes to sponsorship, and I'm quite sure there's more out there doing the same and not just me. So having the choice of letting someone live to play another day, while not screwing over your sponsor, would be quite helpful to the leaders and their sponsors.

The second is more about how things look for new (maybe even the old) players, right now if you look at a sponsor you still see all their deceased associates, which if you were hoping to join a family might not help in your choice if all you see is a bunch of dead or suicided players under the sponsors. I feel it should be similar to how the list looks under the CL when someone dies, where the name/member disappears after 72h from the CL's profile.

How can your idea be successfully implemented into the game as it stands?

I believe the coding for it already exists in different aspects of the game, the transfer ability by a Godfather is somewhat similar to the suggestion above except that in this case it is from a leaders sponsor to the leader which the sponsor belongs to, and the other as I stated above would be similar to how dead members go away from the CL's profile a few days after they show up in red.

What major changes would be needed to make your idea work?

I'm not sure about major changes, but only the Admins would be able to answer this if there was to be any major changes needed, as stated above the suggestions aren't really new and already exist within the game just within different features of the game, so I'm hoping that it wouldn't take any major changes to make it happen.

What is the positive impact of your idea?

Not having to kill someone just to get another member (while HQ is not full), to me is positive, we can't always know what's going on with them in real life unless they tell us, they might just been busy and needed time off. And if they come back to play and find themselves killed by their own leader for being "inactive", they might just say "screw this game", or you might have lost a good player to a different family. And if new players were to see a lot more Alive associates rather than suicided/dead ones under the sponsors, it might help keep new people here by showing them that we have more "active" (a bit deceptive as it only says "Alive" under the sponsor) players than dead ones.

What is the negative impact of your idea?

I don't see one.

How may your idea affect the rest of the userbase?

See positive impact above. And I guess it may or may not help keep the "active" user numbers up, I don't think it would affect it in a negative way, hopefully even make people a bit happier.

I think that dead associates in the profile shouldn't be changed, as it encourages sponsors to try with their associates and not just ignore them.

As for the other suggestion about being able to move someone from an associate into the main family, I can't see anything wrong with it. I would like to hear other people's opinions on this also though, as being moved from 'associate' to 'family' is normally the step from Wise Guy to Made Man.

Perhaps the ability to transfer an associate to a different sponsor, or when taking their sponsor away (to free an associate spot for the sponsor) still remaining as an 'associate' on their profile would be the best option?

I agree with DS on the dead associates part. I think that should stay.

While the associate is alive however, then yeah I could see a reason to move them into the family. There are currently ways to do this, but streamlining it can't hurt.

Moving sponsors around could be kinda cool. There have definitely been times that I've been like, "Fuck, I wanted that guy..."

I think removing the dead after 72 hours is a good idea as it can cause a lot of clutter on a profile, especially due to a war which doesn't really reflect on the sponsor.

I'm kind of sitting on the fence about transferring associates to the main family as that voids the reasoning behind limiting CL/RH/LH to 25 users unless inviting by sponsors as you could have 1 sponsor and just keep transferring. Perhaps DeadlySin's idea of transferring between sponsors would be a better idea.

Must have missed this suggestion. I like the idea if moving the associate, but I'm with DS in that it should only be to another sponsor, moving into the family is a big move to me.

Also, I feel there is no reason not to remove the dead after 72hrs, though part of me would prefer suicides remain. It's not always a reflection on that sponsor but if you see someone with a list of suicides then it certainly would start to make you think twice.

I think we can scratch the second idea, about the deceased. I've noticed they disappear whenever someone is promoted (to Made) from that sponsor, and although that takes longer than 72h, it's good enough to me because at first I thought they'd be there forever when I suggested that idea, but that's not the case so all is well.

However, on the first suggestion, much like DeadlySin has already stated; "being moved from 'associate' to 'family' is normally the step from Wise Guy to Made Man." I agree with that, even if there is a loophole (not taking into account you don't need sponsors for the first 25 members), like removing the sponsorship from someone to get all their associates under the CL instead, so this option in my opinion would make things a bit easier and less of a hassle while trying to keep "family" and associates separated, even if it were to be as suggested afterward (which I like more than moving them straight into the family) - ability to move associates to a different sponsor.

Maybe a "transfer associate" in the drop down menu along with the other options in crew page if they are sponsored by someone, and when you click Ok, get a pop up where you can pick any of the remaining sponsors to move the associate, would look similar to how the petty pop-up is, just with a transfer button. Could possibly also make it so that if a sponsor dies or their sponsorship is taken, their associates get spread out between the other sponsors in the family rather than going under the CL?
