A wily old man appears from the front of the long vacant New Orleans HQ and motions the small crowd to settle down. Removing a tattered piece of paper from his pocket he lights a large Cuban and chews thoughtfully on the end. As he expels the slightly yellowish smoke he begins to speak....... So, a fine mess we have been left in after the events of this weekend, and what a weekend huh? Dons dropping like flies, bodies of Consiglieres and Bosses strewn across the sidewalks of our fair cities and no one to clear the growing mess. Sighs and looks thoughtfully to the skies.... Now that things have settled down somewhat I feel it is time to begin trying to mend the cracks that appeared in our society over the course of the last few days. And to that end, I give you The Silent. As of now we will be running our business from the fine city of New Orleans; I want to see this place restored to it's former glory, I want to see the business district flourishing and I want to see respectable mafioso once again sleeping safe in the knowledge that they will wake up to see another day. Beckons towards the growing crowd...... I cannot however do this without your help; all of you have a part to play in not only the rebuilding of New Orleans but in the rebuilding of what was, until two days ago, a flourishing community. Please feel free to set up your businesses in these fine streets without fear of retribution or reprise, maybe the time will come when your businesses grow so much I cannot avoid taxing you, but for the time being I offer the district up to you on a plate to make your own. I think that just about covers my induction into the records in city hall, I am not one to beat about the bush and I really don't want to waste any more of your time than I really need to. To that end, I bid you farewell, the door to my HQ is always open if you feel the need to pop in. Tips his hat, turns to his trusty right hands and offers up the steps to them for a few words.... |

Whilst this introduction was eloquent, I think you have more pressing matters to address than the New Orleans Business District. You may not be able to build this community up again, but neither can we assist you until you offer a suitable means of sponsorship for those still seeking it. I wish The Silent all the best, but more of us are going to be joining the dead until the leaders authorise more organizations to be setup or more Captains to operate crews of existing ones. |

Not out of your ass neccessarily, although from anywhere would be welcome. Perhaps your own crew would be a good starting place? I don't particularly want to get embroiled in an argument with you, but it isn't like there is nobody other than the three leaders currently in bold who have been gifted the rank of Made Man, is it? |

If I was in your position, Windows, I would far rather see myself die if the alternative was finding shelter with a Crewleader who didn't deserve the auth in first place. Bold of me to say, but I look at the people who are eligible for auth, and I see two possibilities. The fact I have not even heard of the other candidates tells me all I need to know. I would far rather see a smattering of deaths and disorder in the short term which pave the way for stability in the long term. |

We may have those that are ranked high enough to set up as captains or full fledged leaders but we cannot force them to. If they are offered the chance and decline how are we at fault? Some people just don't have the desire to lead. Some are quite content working for their boss in whatever manner they have been assigned. I would rather wait and have those that want to lead than those whom are forced to lead. Patience is something people are going to have to exhibit in this matter as we are in a time where it is slim pickings when it comes to those who are eligible and those who want to lead. |

You aren't in my position luckily and the fact you have not heard of them means very little in the scheme of things, after all you have only been on these shores a little less than two days. As I myself have been here an even shorter length of time, I have to look at the ranks these auth candidates have attained. If they are not capable of leadership, why have they been given them by their leaders or why do they still keep them if they have recently moved crews? tiggy, are you saying all of the individuals who are Made Man and above have been asked and then turned down the chance to lead? I would also suggest that these loyal members could continue to work for their families in a role as a Captain, even if it is on a temporary basis similar as Mr Tufting's clothing seems to imply. This to me would seem to be a particularly important service to my family. In an ideal situation I would prefer to wait for a new leader to come along, but this is hardly an ideal situation. |

When we have "Registered users: 780" and 176 sponsored, I think it is acceptable to ask those who can sponsor others to do so. Even if you imagine it is closer to 400, this is a problem of some magnitude. How often have you seen the term 'community' in the last few days? This is an opportunity to serve the community if not merely your family. I don't understand what is odd about that at all. If you want to be promoted to Made Man you have to be prepared to do whatever your leader asks. I don't understand what is odd about that either. I also didn't say this would be the norm, I actually stated this is not an ideal situation. Is trusted Capos and Bosses actually doing what the title they've been given implies they are capable of, such a ridiculous notion? VagInATube, actually outranks most of current leadership and was gifted his rank by his current crewleader. Surely this is a viable solution to the housing problem? |

Windows though you do make a series of valid points, as Tiggy pointed out. Some people do not want to lead, its as simple as that. They may get an attack of the conscience at some point over the next 10 days, the gods may get a similar attack and deem earner a sufficient rank to have a HQ for 15 as well. But these are things outside our control, what would you expect a leader to do, shoot the member if they didnt say they wanted to go bold? |

| I can't believe nobody amongst those who are Made Man or above would take the opportunity to lead, even on a temporary basis until permanent leaders could be found. If that isn't the case then I will happily shut my mouth. As it stands, it looks like there will be needless loss of life, when viable alternatives are possible and remain unexplored. | |

| There really is no need for Earner leaders when there are willing candidates floating around. I think if we did get to the stage where Earners were allowed to buy HQs we could call it quits. Earners are simply that, dogs bodies who earn money for their superiors. They do not lead crews, much less families. As a side note, while it is a major personal sacrifice, I would do the decent thing and house WindowsVista. | |
