| The Fundamentalist Interpretation of Omerta | Started by: Aves on Dec 05, '12 10:55 |

Aves turns to look out towards the Streets through his dirty second story window. They're all but abandoned, the only movement is a few newpapers tumbling in the cold wind.
He drums his fingers on the end table for a moment, then lets out an exasperated sigh. He peers out the window again. Nothing.
"...How long is this going to last?"He mutters to himself.
After collecting his hat and coat, he tromps down the stairs and out into the empty Streets. The rasping sound of the wooden soapbox being dragged across the pavement echos off the buildings, and faces begin to appear in the windows surrounding the square. He hops up onto his soapbox, which now seems a bit unnecessary since there's nobody around to obstruct the view.
His voice drops to a quiet plea.
"But when peace is plentiful and business is booming, the people of this great nation produce some of the most well-crafted speeches I've ever heard. They're not just pretty words, they serve a very important purpose, they promote creativity, normalcy, and stability. I find it most unfortunate that these speeches come most often when they are least needed. The return to the status quo is an inevitability, but my radio is broken and the roving crazies might provide a bit of 'short lived' entertainment, but they're tapering off. These are your Streets. Own them. Fill them. Put yourself out there and let yourself be known in this thing of ours."
Aves takes a moment to recover his breath.
"There's nothing to be gained by following the fundamentalist interpretation of omerta. I don't believe you guys have run out of stories to tell, dead horses to kick, grievances to air, and dooms to say. So what the hell?"
He steps off his soap box and makes his way towards a nearby bench. |

Flea had been walking through the Streets hoping to find some cheap drugs when he heard someone speak up about something he felt rather strongly about. So, he stopped, lit up a cigarette and decided to listen. When the man was done and he walked over to a bench, he approached him. |

Armorbearer, doesn’t you re-pinning this poster up to the lamppost just create Copious amounts of irony? If one was to be that worried about the "state" of the streets, wouldn’t it be best practice to try to evolve this said poster, move it on, put your own spin on it, a spin that is relevant to the current economic position that we're in? Make it relevant, worthwhile, im not saying copy it, but surley, you can see my point? How this stinks of massive irony? Simply finding this and pinning it back up, IMO, doesn’t solve or drum up anymore interest, than it originally did, and was pointless, imho. |
