| Sponsor Achievements | Started by: His on Dec 16, '12 19:46 |

So, heres one I'm not sure isn't there, Sponsors should get an achievement for associates who get Made, like "Stage one, one down" and "Stage two, 5 More" Maybe get a small reward when their associates get each rank? IDK, mostly think it'd be cool, to get an achievement for sponsoring people into Made pins... |

I kind of like the sound of this idea, but want to hear from more people before I decide to sponsor it. |

I was under the impression that there was already an achievement along these lines by the name of 'Suitable Sponsor' It's not viewable in the achievements page, but it is on the 'Manage Achievements' page. Whether it actually works in this way though, I don't know. Maybe we can get a coder to clarify what this achievement actually is, as there is no description and I've never seen somebody with it unlocked. |

I'm not sure I'm for an idea where we get achievements for other people's work. As a sponsor, what exactly has that person done to get their associate to their ranks? I also see it opening up suggestions for people to want achievements now just for making a rank. I don't mind seeing more achievements go into the game, I just don't feel like this is one. |

I am a strong believer in rewarding those for hard work, it's not a easy thing to recruit an essential member unless they are a direct friend.

In theory that is what sponsors should be doing, but again, even if you're teaching them, I still don't think it's fair to be rewarded for work that other people are doing. You already gain their taxes from the work they put in as your associate. I think it's really up to the CL to reward their sponsors for their work, rather than the game. |

Not sure really where I fall on this. On one hand I agree with Cassi that its a dangerous precedent. On the other, I can see the value in it. Though I would really need to understand more on the criteria side of things before I would want to sponsor it. The idea seems like a very rough one at the moment and I think it needs a lot more input from other users to see what the general feeling is. |

Cass, I don't see this as rewarding the sponsor for the associates work, more along the lines of encouraging people to teach new members of the community, often people member whore newbs into their sponsor ship, only to ignore them... They get 500 from the first few petties, then the newb walks... But if the sponsor had taught the new person how to play they might have stayed, might have grown into a CL or rhm. The point isn't to reward those already doing a great job, but to encourage others to strive to encourage new players to stay. |

Eh, seems too complicated to put into action. It would encourage random member whoring, and like... what if someone accidentally gets their associates dropped? just seems like bleh. |

I would probably still rather see this coming from the players than as a hard code from the coders. CL's should be putting people in the sponsorship role that would already be doing a great job, not putting them there just because they have the rank. I just think it would have more negative impacts than positive. That is of course just my opinion, the others may feel differently than I do. |
