Nick's dilema Started by: Nick_Diaz on Dec 19, '12 20:39

It was a cold, dark December night as Nick strolled the streets of Philly. His hair slicked back behind his ears and a scarf keping the cold from touching his neck. Inside his long beige trench coat was a package tucked into the pocket. Nick had no clue what was in the package, he was only a kid trying to make some cash by helping his uncle Vinny with his ''Business''. Vinny just told him to deliver it to the park at 8pm sharp.

After a long walk Nick finally reached the park. Immediately Nick noticed there was something dodgy going on as a voice from under the trees called him 'You must be Vinny's nephew' he said as he took the Cuban cigar from his mouth and blew out a thick cloud of smoke, 'Yes i have a package for you' Nick replied. He handed the package to this strange man.

After looking through the package the man suddenly turns to Nick and tells him he is under arrest. Puzzled by this Nick doesn't know what to do but run. After running for a few blocks Nick slips and hits his head and blacks out.

He wakes up in what looks like a room the police use for questioning, he takes a look around the room and finds his uncle Vinny sitting at a table. A police officer comes in and tells Nick to take a seat beside his uncle.

The officer question Nick and Vinny about drug trafficking, they don't tell him anything. The police don't have enough information for a conviction. They seperate Nick and Vinny, and offer each of them the same deal if one testifies against the other and the other remains silent the betrayer goes free and the other gets a three year sentence, if both remain silent, they are both sentenced to 2 months in jail on a minor charge. If both rat each other out they each get an 8 month sentenc. Each must choose to either betray or remain silent, the decision of each is kept secret from his partner until the sentence is announced. Nick is left with a dilema. Betray the man who to him, already betrayed him, however he is his uncle. Or remain loyal.

Report Post Tip

What I would think is that while you may feel betrayed by your Uncle how is you to know if you actually were. The under cover officer may have set up the sting without your uncle knowing that it was a sting. The smart thing to do in this would be to keep quiet and do the time. This way even if your Uncle was behind the betrayal by accepting whatever punishment was handed out you would have a better standing within your uncles family.

The other options available are easily dismissed as the only good rat is a dead rat and in our line of work rats are not accepted in anyway.

The flip side is this though, maybe your Uncle is trying to get you offside, have you been screwing with the wrong girl by any chance, disrespected anyone higher up without thinking about it? Your Uncle wouldn't just set you up for the sake of setting you up. So if it was a setup from him or even from someone higher in his family, maybe it's time to look to yourself and see what did you do to get noticed enough that someone wanted you out of the way.
