Improving the OC Template Started by: NoahLevenstein on Dec 30, '12 16:57

Providing I get online at the right times and do my 3 OC's a day, I comfortably can pull in at least 350k a day from my own organised OC's, and with the invites I get sent I probably earn another 200-300k in the average day of playing. So far today (It's 16:41, I've been online since 13:00) I've earnt 273k in OC's, and the effort I've had to put in to earn this is 1 message in crewchat, 1 mobmail sent and 1 mobmail answered. That's quite a lot of money for very little effort, I'd say.

Considering these mails et cetera are only to tell people to hold felonies etc, http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/311828#39771519 suggestion if implemented will negate the need for even that, meaning (in my opinion) OC's will be a great source of income for what amounts to a negligible effort in doing so.

I'd recommend in each OC having a specific position which must be filled, with each giving a different benefits and drawbacks to the person employed in that position for the job; each person would receive a different ratio of money and experience. In addition, a maximum amount of invites you can send out per OC. Such a situation would create an environment where you'll need to communicate with people to ensure they actually want the position in the OC that you're offering. For example:

Raid Trucking Depot - 5 people needed. 10 invites max:

Mastermind - 1/2 is money and 1/2 is experience
The Fence/Launderer - 3/4 is money and 1/4 is experience
The getaway driver - 1/2 is money and 1/2 is experience
The Enforcer -  1/3 is money and 2/3 is experience
The Goon -  1/4 is money and 3/4 is experience

If I'm not being clear here, what I mean is that you still receive the same percentage of the overall 'OC benefits' as per your rank and the number of people involved, but in this set up, the specific percentages of the 'OC benefits' you receive as money or experience depend on your role within the crime. As the minimum number of people in the OC included, you can have multiple people in 1 postion (not including mastermind) but you need a minimum of 1 person in each role before the OC can go ahead.

Pros:
- Allows a more strategical approach, the OC mastermind could ensure him and his high ranking friends receive the lions share of the loot whilst also guaranteeing their associates gain vital experience
- As per above, this is naturally a much more 'RP friendly' way of doing things
- Encourages more communication between families and the community as a whole

Cons:
-
More work and input is required for OC's to go ahead. I don't think this is a bad thing at all. Some people will
- Codewise, I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement.

Jesus christ, I need to stop smoking and stop hyperlinks. It's this: http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/311828#39771519

I think something like this could be interesting. The mastermind should be able to pick the job each person has within a crime... Favoritism is fine... it would make sense... Sounds like it could be developed into something good.

I'm in agreement with Spike. I've often felt the OC option is under utilised in the sense that little effort is involved and it could be expanded to contain so many more aspects. Noah you've grasped the entirety of what I'd love to see with these.

In order for this to move forward though; I think we would need a constructive setting for each OC option that we have. Its Ok looking at this from one OC type perspective, but the idea needs to be feasible for all of our OC options I would think.

Heh, Izzy and I have discussed nearly exactly this. We would also see something like this done but it would certainly be a 100% rewrite of OCs (Which I wouldn't mind, if there were 3 of me to do all the work we want to do.)

In all seriousness when we redo OCs for the districts setup, this will likely be a key feature of it.
