I would like to see the abilities of the family leaders and GF's to dish out more punishments to thier family members for deeds not allowed in the family rules.

Yes then can demote, not promote, remove your gun, remove you from the famliy, and kill you. All bad and strong arm statics

What about lesser offences. Could they not retrict the flights of members, maybe but them in jail, maybe fine $$ them in some way.

This could instill people to follow the families rules a little better without being wacked as much and having to start over.

Restricting flights: With trying to keep a bit of RP into it you could add a "Bribe the " to restrict the flight of your member.

Jailing members: Again, the RP angle, you'd have to bribe the police in some way other than the CAs to put your member in jail. The longer the sentence, the larger the bribe.

Fining: A leader can already do that, no need to code that feature in. I know leaders that have done it or do it currently. You tell your member to pay $xxx,xxx,xxx or be demoted and/or die. Easy as that.

Just some ideas to add.

Also, for the jailing members thingy.. You could make them extremely hard to bust out, or even better... add something similar to Organized Crimes where you have to have multiple people together to bust them out. I know people want more OC's, well this is one way to give them what they want.

The jail would have to be something like admin jail or it would be abused for jail breaking experience or jail achievements.

I'm against restricting flights as it basically hurts the family more than it does hurt a player. Jailing doesn't do much harm, as the player would simply wait for the time to pass and resume playing. Fining if the offense is minor and demoting or killing if it's major is enough imo.

I disagree with flight restricting hurting the family more than the player. I'm not overly convinced though that these ideas would be needed to code in. You can already restrict your members flights by demanding they remain in whatever city it is you want to keep them in, failure to obey would then result in further punishments? Just like Tiggy also said, fining a member is also available.

And as Flash said, the jail aspect could be abused unless its a form in which other players cannot bust them out.

My problem with jailing is that it's a weak punishment. If you, for example, jail someone for a day, all you're doing is basically giving him a day off after which he'll resume the game normally. Demotion is much stronger as it tosses all the playing time of a player to water. The main thing is, you should never bring the player in a situation where he's unable to be present.

We've recently passed a graduated tribute suggestion.

That was essentially passed in a way where you could tax individual members seperatly, so the taxing members for mistakes idea is just about ready to be coded.

As far as the other things i'm not really sold... being disrespectful is going to get you demoted. Making threats is going to get your gun taken (and possibly demotion) making a big mistake like mugging or even PPing the wrong person is going to get you taxed, embarassing and or rulebreaking of the family will get you punished in a similar manner. 

There's really no 'need' for these other punishments because there's really nothing someone can do to deserve them. Everything a player can do to earn a punishment already has some sort of fitting punishment that can be applied. 

Plus - these other ideas offer WAY too many security risks. Being able to restrict flights and put people in jail would WITHOUT DOUBT be abused eventually. Then we'll be having a conversation again where someone important and/or his family died because some shady right hand put all his members in jail, restricted their flights, took their guns and started the fish-in-the-barrel shooting extravaganza...
