| War room for the family | Started by: Vito_Capistrano on Jan 08, '13 18:38 |

Well my idea is simple, a war room, like a chat where only the most reliable members could join (the Cl must add in the war room) where top secret information's, war tatics and a lot of secret things could be said and talked, the war room will make war tactics and orders much easier because of the speed of the conversation (you will not need to send MM etc) and it would be more safe because using the crew chat, will let low ranked players or not reliable ones to read some secret information's... and using the MBBIT chat are not that safe because someone could get in the room. So my idea here is simple: |

IRC (mibbit) channels are completely securable. Meaning you can keep people out. Using chanserv or with a simple key and user vigilance. Though once we have the next version of the in game chat stuff in place, this is something that we could consider. |

Yeah I think this would be useful for people that can't access irc during war time. Example being on your phone. Good idea. |

and it will be more easy than coding chat rooms etc etc and as it will be in the game you will be able to see your personal blinks or any message while talking in the war room and not keeping changing pages to game/chat or chat/game... |

No, it wouldn't be easier. It would in fact be the same thing. Unless your comparing to IRC, which we write no code for its existing free software. |

Maybe give CLs ability to control who gets to see threads in HQ? That way the war room can be in HQ but CL could block anyone who he/she doesn't trust. |

but threads are not good for a fast conversation :) in times of war you need a realy fast comunication :) it will be like the crew chat but only few peoples will be able to join :) |

I'm pretty sure that you can no set a Mademan+ thread. So you can control who gets to view it as usual practices your MadeMan+ are the ones that are trusted in the family. |

A coder has already explained it wouldn't be easier. Not to mention the fact that you can access mibbit from your phone browser and there are other chat apps several people use on their phones. |

Cassi that's like saying the crew/city chat is pointless because you can use irc... the whole point of this is to make it easier/not messy. |

ThomasAnderson, please explain to me where in my statement that I said anything remotely like that? It would not be easier to make a super sekrit war room chat in the game, straight out of the mouth of a coder. So you guys can stop using that argument. If you happen to only be available by phone, again, there are plenty of avenues available to you to be able to access your city's war room in those times it may be needed. This idea is not one of them. Now. Nowhere in anything I've said did I say crew/city chat are pointless. They are wonderful tools, just not for what is being suggested here. Also nothing I previously suggested would make anything "messy". I'm sorry... Opening one more browser page and signing into mibbit is messy? Downloading one of multiple irc apps to your phone so that you can join chat from your phone is messy? I think you're confusing helpful and messy. You're welcome for the alternatives. |

Cassi I said 'like' never said you said it. If you think they are wonderful tools then why would it not be 'easier' to add in the extra chat beside crew and city chat where you would have 'Hitroom or Hitsquad chat'? For people on phones like me would make war a lot easier. And you will tell me "well there is the extra apps you can download", why bother when you could have everything integrated in the one game? |

Thomas, a game coder has said it would not be in any way easy to code in a 'Hitsquad Chat'. For a start, the other chats access go off game demographics, and stats. (Such as if your home city is Boston, you can view Boston Home City chat. If your Family is Phil_Steak, you can view Phil_Steak Crew chat) Adding a hitsquad chat would make it so a user (probably godfather or cl) would have to personalise a list that could be constantly changing, on who can see the Hitsquad chat. I can't think of another feature ingame that allows a user to personalise a list, which then entitles people on this list to then view something secretive to the rest of the game. (With the exception of backalley threads of course, but I am more talking about a list that is hard coded in.) If you are that dedicated to helping your family in a war time, you should be able to either put up with the slowness of mailing, or open mibbit or an app (as Cassi said). It shouldn't be made easier to communicate in a war, you are meant to be well organised yourselves, not have the game organise your war for you. |

IRC handles war rooms perfectly, and has for a long time. Even now, people are using skype during wars to organize things. There are also HSR (Hitsquad Rooms) on IRC in most families. There's no need to add anything else into the crew chat. |

Actually wasn't something like this planned when there was talk of making a coded hit squad leader position along with "war mode". |
