I'll be short with this idea. Basically, when you commit a lot of crimes in a city, you become wanted in that city and the risk of getting busted greatly increases until you wait some time in an other city or pay to lose your notoriety. What do you think about this suggestion?

Report Post Tip

This reminds me of something ... that I've seen in another... very very similar game... but not so similar... but still....

I didn't like the feature on that game, and I don't want to bring it here.

Report Post Tip

Nah I don't think that would suit this game at all.

Report Post Tip

I agree with Spike, and I think I know what game he is thinking about, and it's .org (correct me if I'm wrong Spike)

This game branched off from .org and went back to the original code, why would the admins then take it in the same direction as .org, as so many people were obviously not a fan of, and left .org for MR?

Report Post Tip

And fail on swapping accounts!

Report Post Tip

I forgive you Pratster, and yes that's what I was referring to. It was an annoying feature on .org 2.5.

Report Post Tip

Seriously guys, let's not try to make this like other games you know or have played or currently play. I'm all for new ideas, implementing new features, enhancing old ones... But keeping them all MR focused.

Report Post Tip

Well I've never seen this feature on a game before if that's what you meant.

Report Post Tip

Yeah .org has/had that feature and I hated it, thought it was stupid/annoying..

It would sortof add to the realism of the game... but that's not really a top priority in my opinion, certainly not over playability...

On another note though, people travel so often in this game that it really wouldn't even come in to play for most people.. Drug running is a huge part of MR and people fly often for that reason thus making the notoriety bit somewhat of a non-issue...

Report Post Tip

Padrino, we're familiar with another game that uses a feature like what you described. As far as I'm concerned, it didn't work well for them, and as a user on that game, I didn't like it at all.

Report Post Tip

I'm clearly on the opposite side of the fence on this one. I don't think the idea should be as clear cut as doing simple crimes, but I do think its logical that should you commit certain activities in a city then you would indeed have more heat on you. The problem with that is what impact would it have? We dont have police involved here, with the exception of those on our payroll, so whilst I agree with the concept I don't really see how to implement it?

Report Post Tip

There could be a higher chance of failing crimes or being sent to jail for crimes, such as felonies and drug deals.

Report Post Tip

Yes, there's no police but if, for example, your notoriety level is high in NY, you have a much greater chance of getting busted there than in some other city.

Report Post Tip

I think you're failing to forget, Padrino, that you don't get jailed for petty crimes, and very very rarely for felony crimes. We play the game as professional mobsters, who are very unlikely to get caught committing a petty or felony crime. For this reason, there is no way to increase the chance of getting busted, because it would be both unrealistic, as well as impossible to do for petty crimes, as there is no chance in the first place.

Report Post Tip

We had planned on implementing heat into the districts but in a slightly opposite capacity as you guys are thinking. A new player fails his first crime and lands in jail for 10 minutes, a little harsh.... If they dont have a lot of heat built up, its all reduced sentences or getting let go with a stern talking to, maybe a ass-whoopin. You don't get into normal jail terms until you neglect your heat and just stay planted in one area and work hard.

Report Post Tip

A mobster is a member of the mob, and mobsters earn from illegal businesses they run. That doesn't necessarily mean they are excellent at robbing post offices, for example. Realistically, if you rob 50 post offices in New York, you will get on police radar.

Report Post Tip

On police radar, yes, but the police would know about the organised crime in the city, and you would more than likely be able to pay the cops off that are sniffing around, leaving you to your business again. I don't believe a bribe feature should be added (again moving too close to .org in my opinion) and therefore don't think notoriety or heat levels should be added.

I agree with Squishy to the point of maybe 10 minutes being too harsh for a new player to have to sit though, as it would probably make them think twice about seriously playing the game, however for old master accounts (ones that have recently been active) I don't think a reduced or increased jail sentencing needs to occur, the jail sentences are fine as they are.

Report Post Tip

Another fail on swapping account, ffs.

Report Post Tip

I've seen this feature on at least 6 other games, and to me this idea just comes of as pointless.

Just my 2 cents

Report Post Tip

@Pratster: Not sure what you mean by swapping accounts?

@Bult2Destroy: It's maybe unoriginal, but why pointless?
