Votes in the BANK Started by: Syn on Feb 04, '13 19:34

I pride myself on visiting the bank whenever I have cash on hand, back before the insta-petty, we were doing a petty after every vote and no one's to complain about the extra step in going to the bank, but the insta-petty barely saves me time because I put my money in the bank to save me from a pick pocket.

Would it be hard to program the reward money for a vote to go into the federal account rather than to your cash on hand?

Report Post Tip

A pickpocket takes, what, $5,000? I just did a petty and grabbed myself about $600, after tribute, which isn't nearly enough to send me scrambling for a deposit slip, considering the amount I've already got stashed.

If you're serious about keeping all of your money, I would say just bank every hour or so. Though if you really do make a deposit after every petty, you're already hitting the bank on compulsive levels anyhow.

I just don't really see the sense of risk in this. If someone picks your pocket for the full amount, you aren't really losing much. if all you have on hand is a petty or two worth of cash, you're losing even less. Assuming you're not just the world's most obvious victim, I can't really see the problem.

Or have I completely misunderstood what you were saying?

Report Post Tip

I'm not talking about the petty money, I'm refering to the reward money from votes. If you do all the votes you have a lot more than 5k in your pocket. I may compulsively hit the bank but I don't understand why reward money for voting goes to your pocket rather than to the bank.

Report Post Tip

Yes, but the MAXIMUM amount of money you lose to a pick pocket is $5,000. And pick pocketing is too rare an occurrence for one to worry about losing much money, especially if they're diligent about banking their normal income every so often.

I'm not saying your vote money shouldn't go into the bank. I'll admit, it's something I know very little about, since I don't really vote and I haven't used the bank in forever. I'm just saying that I don't really see how the suggestion is directly related to the circumstances you outlined.

Don't vote? Boo, hiss.

Report Post Tip

MR is a RPG, so its best to envisage everything in a RP sense.

When you vote you get a bonus in cash, for me its about $4500. This is MR 'buying' your vote. "You could vote for anyone, but we would appreciate you voting this way... and here's a little something for your time."

Basically someone hands you an envelope stuffed with cash.

The game is set in the 30s, so there's no BACS system. Not only that, but depositing money in that manner would create a trail that the feds could track.

If you are that anal about banking that's your choice, I'd envisage your character as a shifty looking nervous man who trusts no one, based on this one piece of information. The only reason Associate earnings go into your city account is because its counted in with your CL tribute, bit hard to hand a wad of cash to your sponsor when you are in NY and he is in Boston.

Report Post Tip

I don't see a need for the money to go in the bank. It just takes one extra click or two.
