Meryl Testing and Co, Episode 1 Started by: Echelon on Nov 02, '08 22:01
Near the border of Nevada, a deserted and arid area of property was heavily fenced with reinforced metal, barbed wires, and guard dogs, protecting a large facility; Meryl Pharmaceuticals & Testing Co. Deep underground in floor B6, a dim hallway is slowly lit, light by light, to reveal a group of men dressed in hospital gowns.

"Gentleman, you are here today to test what might easily become one of our nation's greatest achievements. You have signed your waivers, and aware of the risks, yes?" Said Echelon, dressed in a lab coat and black dress pants, with a clipboard and a pencil in both hands.

The men nod agreeably.

"Okay, right this way, gentlemen."

Echelon led the group to a small soundproof, bunker-like room, with one-way mirrors to observe the patients, before stepping out and entering the monitor room. Pushing a small button hooked to an intercom, Echelon began to speak.

"Alright, gentlemen. Today we will be experimenting with a new strand of benzodiazepine, mixed with a healthy dose of lysergic acid diethylamide and strychnine. We are confident that one day, this medication will be used for weight loss as well as a medication to be administered after botched lobotomies.."

The men nervously nod.

"Our resident doctor, scientist, and forensic pathologist Dexter will take you through the steps of this experiment.. Dexter?"

Another man entered the monitoring room, wearing a laboratory coat and dress pants, holding a gas mask and a clipboard.

Dexter nodded to Echelon, then addressed the patients.

"Gentlemen, to your left is a large metal table. There are seven cups each containing two pills. I would like you each to take them uniformly, when I signal you to do so. This is a fast release formula, so in approximately 5 minutes time, share your experiences to me when I return."

Dexter released the intercom button and grabbed a nearby seat, sitting next to his partner. Watching the men swallow their pills, the subjects began shaking uncontrollably, while foam began running down the mouths of three of their patients. Two of the men slammed against the padded walls and fell to the ground, while another was quietly sitting in a corner shaking as his eyes become blackened. Almost instinctively, the man rose to his feet and casually walked over to another patient before viciously biting his ear. Screaming in pain, the patient's eyes soon went black as well.

"We have to stop thi-"

Dexter cuts off Echelon, grabbing his arm.

"We can't intervene. You know the policy."

Echelon quietly stayed in his seat, sighing slightly, as he continued to watch with his partner the adverse reactions of their "miracle drug".

With blood now artfully splattered over the padded walls, one of the patients attempts to raise his voice to speak before being violently attacked by two other patients, clearly in a state of dementia.

"What do you think about what just has transpired?", Dexter quietly asks.

Echelon began looking through subject waivers, before noticing one that was unsigned.

"I.. think this is a law suit." Echelon says.

Nodding, Dexter pushed a button next to the intercom, activating a trap door encompassing the entire room, dropping them down into a large cellar, where the faint sound of a pack of blood thirsty dogs were heard, shortly before bloodcurdling screams and shrieks overpowered them.

"Man, that was crazy.." Dexter calmly says, pushing the button once more to close the trap door, buying the two men complete silence.

"Alright, I am going up to A1 to meet our new subjects."

Dexter takes the elevator to the first floor and meets with his new applicants, nervously sitting down in the lobby.

"Gentlemen! Good afternoon. Right this way.. How would you like to be a part of history?"

The cleaning crew descended on the room and made fast work of washing away the blood and setting the room back to near sterile conditions. The nurse, Sarah, who had been with Meryl Testing for just under a year, busily set up the medicine in 7 different cups along the expanse of the stainless steel table. Her uniform was spotless and blindingly white...not to mention that it fit a little snugly in all the right places. She finished her task at hand just as the door opened with the next batch of research volunteers. Smiling coyly at Dexter, she excused herself and eased her way past him out the door.
