The Assassain's Den Started by: EzioAuditore on Mar 21, '13 00:26

Deep in the slums of Cortktown, Detroit, there was once a quaint little pub by the name of The Assassain's Den. It was a very small building sandwiched between two apartment complexes, you would hardly notice it if you weren't looking for it. The door and windows were boarded up, there was no evidence that the place was inhabited by anything besides a hobo or two, other than a small symbol on the upper right corner of the building.. But if you were in on the secret, you would know that there was a ladder in the alley next to the building, and a trapdoor on the roof. Opening the trapdoor revealed a rickety set of stairs, and they led down into the pub.

The inside of the pub was dimly lit and a but musty, it was obvious that the owner had not done much to clean it up since he bought it. It was the type of place you would only go to because your friends went there, or because you wanted to have a private conversation with someone. There was never more than two or three people in the bar, and even the owner Ezio was rarely seen there. He hired a bartender and just sat around drinking and smoking whenever he was there, occasionally he could be seen conversing in hushed tones with other well dressed men and women.

There was no beer tap, Ezio only stocked the bar with hard liquors. None of that fancy girly alcohol either. He didn't have a whole lot of money to drop into the place, so he kept to the bare essentials. If a customer wanted a beer, they got one out of the twelve pack in the fridge he kept in the back room. If they wanted some fruity drink he stabbed them with his hidden blades. He wasn't much of a friendly neighborhood bar man.

On the night you decided to stop into the pub, it was completely devoid of life, save for Ezio and the bartender sitting at the bar, Ezio puffing on a cigarette and sipping a scotch, his head turning towards you as you stroll down the rickety stairs...

Takara had heard about a new place that opened up. Anything to do with liquor and she could be seen there. Her liquor was her top priority and she always kept herself in the know of the places that sold it. How else could a girl manage if she didn't know where to get her addictions at. It was a man's world and a stiff drink was a lot better than a whiney little boy.

Opening the door Takara had to wait a minute for her eyes to adjust. The dim lighting was welcome to her. Spotting the bar she heads straight for it. Taking a seat that enabled her to see who came and went as she flattened her palms on her legs. Taking a quick glance at the bartender before she ordered.

"Double shot of your best whiskey please."

She flashed him a grateful smile and waited.

The bartender arose from his seat across from Ezio and walked behind the bar. He pulled out an unmarked bottle of Whiskey and poured Takara a glass, grimacing at her as if he was trying to smile. Ezio got out of his seat and sat down next to her, motioning to the barkeep to pour him a glass as well.

75 year old whiskey brewed in my grandfather's basement. It's the strongest stuff I've ever tried. If you think you can handle it?

He smiled and downed his glass, feeling the cold liquor burning his throat. It was one of his favorite feelings. He turned back to Takara and spoke again.

We don't get many ladies in here, miss. What brings you to my side of town?

Takara chuckled before she downed the shot.  Turning her attention to Ezio but waiting for the burning feeling in her throat to pass before she spoke up.

"Well that is some good whiskey. I go where liquor is. I have an uncanny love for it you can say."

Pushing her glass away from her a bit as she paused.

"I live in this neck of the woods. Live and work here. I like to know all the good spots to hang out and this was new. Do you own this place?"

"WHAT THE FUCK?!?" MartinaGiorgio yelled when she walked into her house. The mobster's cat, Killer was sitting on the recliner staring at a bookshelf. "Have you been sitting there all day?" Martina questioned the cat. "For fuck sake, the bookshelf isn't going to start singing and dancing. You need to get a life, crazy cat!"

After telling off her cat Martina went into her bedroom to change clothes then left the house. Not far from home the mobster stopped her car across the street from The Assassain's Den. The bar was perfect. It didn't attract any attention. People who didn't know what it was would assume it was an empty building. Martina made her way through the secret complicated entrance and walked into the bar.

As Martina took off her jacket she recognized Takara and EzioAuditore at the bar. She waved at them and went to a table in dark corner where a man was seated. When Martina got to the table the man looked up at her, but didn't make eye contact. He seemed scared as she sat down on one of the chairs.

"Where's my fucking money?" The mobster asked and stared across the table at the man.

"I... I'm..." He stuttered and nervously tapped his fingers on his glass of whiskey. "I'm sorry, Martina. I... um, I don't have it."

Christoff was tired after long day clearing up somebody else's mess, he had heard of a new quiet speak easy in the slums of Corktown.
He decided to check it out, He needed a drink and this was a place he was unlikely to be disturbed.

After walking up and down the alley he was told it was on for a few minutes and having no luck finding the place he was a bout to give up when he noticed the strange symbol he was told about.

Christoff climbed the ladder and opened the trapdoor and made his way down the stairs to the pub. This was a bar Christoff could feel at home in, It was dark, quiet and was well stocked with scotch!

He approached Ezio at the bar.

Ill take a double of your oldest scotch, no ice please.

Christoff sat down for what felt like the first time in days while he waited for his drink.

Ezio had just returned from the funerals of both Martina and Takara, it had been a rough week in Detroit. He went into the back room and loosened his tie, opening his third pack of cigarettes today. Although he had only just met Takara, her sudden suicide hit him hard. And Martina was one of his closer friends in the city, it was a shock to see her gunned down in an alley. As he puffed away, he walked back out to the bar area. It was deserted, save for the gruff bar man, Wallace.

Grab me-

He was cut off as the trapdoor opened and a cold breeeze blew in, followed by a slender man in a dark suit. Ezio nodded to him as he asked for the oldest scotch they had.

I'll have the same Wallace. It's been a tough one.

Waking up in the middle of the night Silk craved a drink. The young mobster got out of bed and searched her apartment, but found nothing. Time for another trip to The Corktown Supermarket. Silk got dressed and left her apartment next to HotIce Family Suits and walked towards the supermarket. As she walked a car stopped on the street. It was Giovanni. Silk told him she was going to the supermarket for a bottle of her favorite booze. He told her about a better place to get a drink, The Assassain's Den.

Fifteen minutes later Silk arrived at the secret bar and looked around. A man at the bar looked familiar. Silk was sure she saw him when she joined the family, but she couldn't remember his name. Slightly embarrassed the California girl approached the bar and introduced herself to the man. "Hello Sir, I'm Silk. We met a few days ago. Forgive me. I don't remember your name. Giovanni told me about this bar. Are you the owner?"

Ezio smiled at the young woman who had came into his bar and addressed him. She had a bit of an innocent look to her, a look that Ezio always liked his women to have.

Why yes, this is indeed my place. Not so much of a bar as it is a hide out. A place of refuge, somewhere you can get away from the rigors of this life we choose. Wallace here will get you a drink if you need it. There won't be a whole lot of people to chat with, I'm afraid. The place is a bit off the map.

"A hide out." Silk repeated the owner's description of the bar. With a look around The Assassain's Den she said, "I like it."

"Hello Wallace." The young mobster greeted the bartender and smiled. "I'm Silk. Nice to meet you." The scruffy man behind the bar seemed to be surprised by her greeting or maybe it was her politeness. Even though the California girl was disowned by her parents she still remembered their strict rules about respect. "I'd like Scotch please. For some reason I've been craving it since I got to Detroit."

A few hours and a few drinks later Silk put money on the bar with a tip for Wallace and looked over at her new friend, the owner of the hidden establishment. "I better go before my sponsor notices I'm missing. She gave me the apartment next to her shop to live in. I think she wants to keep an eye on me while I learn the ropes. Thank you for the hospitality, Sir."

As Silk left the hidden bar to walk back to her apartment she was tired and tipsy from the drinks. The walk back seemed longer than she remembered. The young mobster looked around at the cars parked on the street and thought about stealing one, but she didn't know which ones belonged to the family or friends of theirs. Instead Silk decided she would buy a car soon and put an end to all the damn walking.

SpaceCowboy is strolling the streets of detroit, looking to find a good place to rest his old bones and have a drink. Taking a few steps towards an old run down building he spots a pair of mobsters climbing down a ladder in the backalley of the building. Curiously he checks his surrondings to see he isn't followed or that anyone is around to see him. Space climbs up the ladder and opens up a door with an emblem on it, walking inside he smiles and notices a lot of friendly faces and a few new ones sitting at tables or the barkeep smoking, drinking while chatting away. He takes a seat, pulling an ashtray closer to him he lights up a cigarette while paitently awaiting for service.

Insidieux was wandering the streets on a Wednesday night trying to figure out where she'd go tonight. She had quite the case of wanderlust, and all too often going home was just really not an option she could consider. She kicked at the slush and cursed the cold as she trudged along. Trying to light her cigarette futilely aginst the bitter wind she ducked into a door way, she turned sideways to utilize the wall and as she did so noticed she noticed a vaguely familiar looking young girl ascending from a hole in the ground in the alley across the street. "Well that's interesting," she thought. She waited for the girl to walk down the block, watching her look strangely at the cars as she passed them by, and then made her way across the street.

When she got into the alley Insidieux noticed a wooden door in the ground. "Some kind of storn shelter?" she wondered. She reached down and pulled the door up and saw a ladder leading down to a dimly lit hallway. "Eh, why the fuck not?" She climbed down the ladder and turned around to survey the hallway. She heard noise coming from inside an open doorway up to the right and walked toward it. When she got to the doorway she saw the room contained a small, minimalistic bar. "I guess I could do this tonight," she thought. She reached into her backpack and pulled out a bound notebook and a pen, and then a book. She shrugged her backpack back onto her shoukders and walked up to the bar, catching the eye of the bartender as she made her way forward.

Well vodka, and whiskey, the bottles please.

Ezio had just finished drinking with Silk, getting to know her and whatnot. He had just lit up another cigarette as she climbed up the ladder and out of sight. He had just snuffed it out into an ashtray when the trapdoor opened again, and SpaceCowboy came into the bar. Ezio jumped out of his chair and made his way over to Space's chair. He kissed the godfather's hand before speaking.

It's an honor to have you in my humble establishment, Mr. Cowboy. Please, have anything you'd like, it's on the house.

Space looks over to his right and grins as he notices a young gal sitting alone with two bottles next to her with no glass visible to the naked eye. After taking a final drag from his cigarette he puts it out in the ashtray looking at Insidieux he croaks "Care to join me? I see you have two bottles there already, care to make this interesting?" SpaceCowboy looks behind the counter, noticing a bottle that caught his eye he points asking EzioAuditore "Could I get that bottle of gin and some tequilla please."

You have a nice thing going here Ezio, how's businsess been treating you?

SpaceCowboy's eyes start to wander looking around at the details of the room trying to become more familiar with his surroundings.

Report Post Tip

Insidieux feels a gaze and looks up to see SpaceCowboy staring bemusedly at her drinks. She arches an eyebrow at the invitation to join him. She'd planned to hole up in another world in the corner here with her books and writing, but he looked like a man who had seen some things, and Insidieux was desperately interested in places she hadn't been yet. She took a swig from her whiskey bottle, slipped her book and notebook back into her backpack, and went over and slid into the seat next to SpaceCowboy's. Insidieux tried to figure out what he was scanning the room for when Ezio brought over the additional bottles. She lit a cigarette and wondered whether he was inquisitive, or paranoid. Maybe a little of both. No matter. She reached out and scooted the gin across the table to his hand. She grinned mischeviously at him as he turned back around at the bottle touching him.

You gonna keep up with me then? I should warn you, I don't really drink casually.
