Regarding the comatose (inactives) Started by: Taskmaster on Nov 04, '08 09:48
Taskmaster enters the hospital in the dead of night. No one notices as he walks into the ICU and draws a silenced pistol. He is here to see Bruv, one of his own crew members, who is in a terminal coma. Bruv fell and injured his head a week ago and will never regain consciousness. Taskmaster intends to put the poor bastard out of his misery. However, as he nears the bed, he quickly holsters his pistol and yells for a nurse.

Nurse! Nurse! What the hell? Someone has been shooting at this man! Look at the bullet holes around his bed! This is the kind of place you run here? There's no security at all?

The nurse says, "But sir, he's not going to wake up. Maybe someone was trying to put him out of his misery."

Taskmaster grabs the nurse by the collar and pulls her feet off the ground, so that they're eye to eye.

Let me make one thing perfectly clear. He works for ME. The decision of his life and death is MINE. No one else. If he is to die, someone will take care of it, someone else who works for ME. His life stays in the family. Understand?

She nods her head emphatically and Taskmaster, as if for effect, draws his gun, turns, and shoots the comatose Bruv in the chest twice. He drops the nurse to the floor.

Get the word out to your co-workers. If this happens again, I'll be back for you. Also, in the future, I suggest that you increase security. Catch.

His gloved hand tosses the pistol to the nurse who obediently catches the gun. By the time that she realizes what's happened, Taskmaster is gone and only her fingerprints remain on the weapon. Later, she'll throw the gun in the river and deny seeing anything.

Taskmaster is 100% correct. Inactive family members are still family members. Some of these people are indeed inactive. Some are merely on vacation.

Either way, they are sponsored members of another family. All families have rules against shooting sponsored members. If anyone is found shooting at inactives from Los de Abajo they will be treated as if they had shot at any of my active members. I will go to your family head, and soon you will be sleeping with the fishes.

'Wow,

Killing Inactives that are part of a family is low. That person is inactive yes, but hell, he still has a sponsor. I have to agree with what has been said here. Anyone found killing Inactives of another family shall be punished in the DUNGEON!'
Report Post Tip
I also agree with TaskMaster. This is a problem that I've seen occur numerous times. I personally believe that the rule "Eye for an eye" can be put in place for such a occasion. If someone has shot at a member of your family, it is an act of war. Therefore, you can shoot the assailant. I would personally like to work with the other leaders to take care of ANYONE who dares to, as Zoey has put it, "Steal food off our table".
Report Post Tip
Whilst I appreciate the point and agree that these inactives are the responsibility of their family, most of these cases occur because someone doesn't see they are sponsored.

It will be a rarity when someone is trying to pull a fast one and steal a kill off you or your hitters, as quite honestly, when was the last time a witness statement didn't turn up more or less immediately? The odds of you getting away with it are low. So low in fact that you're virtually asking to be shot.

Therefore these threats of future retribution are not really required. I highly doubt the shot on Bruv was an intentional attempt to con Taskmaster. If it wasn't and it was a mistake, as I suspect, then they didn't mean to do it to begin with.

And no, I do not think that should excuse them from being punished.

Ah Zishla, "an eye for an eye" would leave everyone blind. It's the eternal fallacy of Hammurabi's Code.

I hope the masses don't agree with you and assume that an attack on a family's ia member would be an "act of war." Quite honestly, it's not only a piss-poor way to wage a war, but I believe only bighead and Jon conduct wars by attacking inactive gangsters first.

*looks defiantly on at the scene, we all have times when we have to lay low from this thing or ours as our two worlds colid. Hospital is a great place to hide claiming a coma. It is disrepectful and tragic that people want to try such things on family that will result in there death.

*nods to the crowd as he leaves pickpocketing a gold watch

All of the above is true, but around these HQ walls I try to keep up with those lazy mobsters.. give them about a week of not making the Don some cash and they find themselfs with cement shoes.

Points to a casket thats sitting in the corner..

Keep your guns holstered, especially if the mobster you are aiming at is connected and in a a family, because it almost always equals certain death.. most of you are slick criminals and someone usually witnesses it and before you know it, you are dead.. gone.

Keep to those ranges, and Inactive unsponsord mobsters, and you might be able to live to one day use that gun you trained up to have.

I'm surprised this has even become an issue. I would think this matter is pretty straightforward. I guess you can never dismiss the stupidity that lies around these streets.

Here's a point that no one has brought up and should be explained to the newer of our associates. Any good Crew Leader knows her/his members, even the inactive ones.

If or when a family member goes inactive in the familythey are at times used to further the family's experience to lower members experience in shooting.

The family needs to keep upgrading the members experience.

Sponsored gangsters or above are harder to shoot than a unsponsored, so in fact you are stealing a valueable asset to their family. Hence you deserve to die or pay a reasonable compensation if the family agrees.

The point here is...Stay away from Sponsored, any rank can get you shot.

Horatio Caine Emerges through the crowd with a casual swagger. He stops at the front and removes his shades from his face and pops them into his front pocket. Before he speaks he adjusts his tie and stokes his ginger locks

People have been shooting at your Inactive members mister Taskmaster?

Do you want me to get my team to do abit of an investigation...

Standing there smug as can be he carries on

Anyhoo, to what Hugzilla had to say. I can understand an honest mistake once in a while when someone 'accidentally' shoots a families 'inactive' member, But i have been noticing it has been happening quite frequently.

At the end of the day it only takes two minutes to double check that your target doesn't have a family tattoo before you shoot, These accidents are more just lazy hitters who can't be arsed checking if what they are shooting is sponsored.

An associate of mine recently discovered who was attempting to euthanize my late friend Bruv. He has been dealt with accordingly and I thank my associate for their quick response.
Report Post Tip
I disagree Horatio, the increased volume of inactives coupled with the differing, faster methodology being employed to kill them, has led to less care being taken and as a result an increase in seemingly 'intentional' shots being fired at sponsoreds.

As you no longer have to stare at the bum (you don't refresh on the profile anymore) and can close your eyes (just click wack on a name) whilst firing, mistakes are inevitable. I can't account for all of these shots and I'm sure given the intelligence of some mobsters in our world that the possibility of someone thinking 'how slick am I' as they pulled the trigger, cannot be discounted. However, even that one person is a rarity on this issue. The majority of these shots are made in error as ever since the Amber regime here, the punishment for every rule violation is death. That and our eagle eyed witnesses mean that only in the very rarest of cases do you escape with your life.

To do this intentionally is beyond stupid in the modern era.

I wonder why I said disagree.

Perhaps you were preparing for another rousing debate with SeamanStaines? Lord knows that his positions on any issue are frequently wrong and/or idiotic. I have yet to find a sailor that will agree with the poor soul on any account.
Report Post Tip
Completely agree with you Taskmaster. Its yours and only your decision to make whether he lives or dies.

Killing a IA from another family, or your own family without permission is soley irresponsible and disrespectful to the fullest degree.
Report Post Tip
I have recently become one of those who has been affected by this affront. Thankfully though it has been dealt with in a timely and according manner.
