I'm still not sure what they do, but there is one addition I have thought of where they might play a part. I'll keep it simple. War, everyone becomes a target. "Garrison" option. Earners and non-war- essential personal can be sheltered from eager trigger fingers looking to clean up the younger members of a family in between essential shots. Does not make garrisoned personnel invulnerable, just bigger defense, equivalent to some bg's depending on how well fortified HQ is. Personnel garrisoned have restricted abilities. Can't fly, must be in home city, can't crime, can chat, etc. |

"eager trigger fingers" isn't really the case. If the potential pro'ers aren't removed it can be the difference between winning and losing a war. Everyone has a part to play, even if they haven't trained a cannon. So the description of why they're killed and the importance of them being killed is a long way off the truth. As for the 'garrison' option, much of it is already included in what fortifications are and how they work. As you might logically assume, they only provide help in a home city and while there they do provide a significant defence boost to family members. The specifics of the boost is quite commonly known, so I'm sure if you ask around you can get the full details of how it works.
There is potentially an idea behind adding a further 'garrison' option that would provide a slightly higher boost in return for disabling some of the features as mentioned, but personally I'd hate to see it. Wars should be inclusive of everyone who might pay the price of death due to it. It shouldn't result in calls for people to garrison up and not be directly involved in the activities. It would remove strategic elements of the game on how best to use people, something that would be a major negative and far worse than the positives that might be gained with a few lives being saved (I also have no issue whatsoever with anyone dying that isn't utterly delighted to give their character up for their family and would rather hide in a war, so potentially I've a more one sided view of the suggestion than most). |
