| GAME CHANGE: Distance means everything. | Started by: Squishy on May 13, '13 16:37 |

In the time period this takes place, information did not travel instantly. Radio and newspaper was a very delayed media. If you lived 1,000 miles away, you would not necessarily recognize the face of of some random mobster. The further you are away from where you do your day to day operations, the less likely you would be recognized, and thus, your rank from afar, carries less weight than it should. Starting May 20th, at 23:59:59, our previous announcement about how the further you are away from home, the less your rank/skills come into play. You are at your max when you are home, and it reduces the further you are away. The purpose of this is to have two separate game worlds, where they can loosely be tied together |

If you are going for two "separate" game worlds that are "loosely" tied together will you be adjusting achievements to match this as well? The current set-up of them promotes city travel based on the old travel times, not the new travel times and this change. |

Just because the weight of your name would decrease with distance away from home, how would this in any way effect your accuracy with a gun? |

Acheivements will be done by district in your sister cities. You will not need to do the far away cities to complete them. |

To setup a situation to kill someone, it takes a lot more than just aim. |

It was spoken of at length during the start of the implementation of districts themselves... Here are the logs and the public Q&A https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TtGCFnecfMBTjUAL6NZIEuxipmrVRcpzKBLtBSVZCsA/edit |

I still don't quite understand how this works squishy....and further more how will this effect the drug trade? for instance you make more money in CHI and DT to make up for the 3 extra hours you have to wait to travel as opposed to the east coast where you can travel every hour...so how is this going to affect the flight timers? and then you have the gun stats that are the topic of conversation...I understand that your rank may not mean as much in say CHI if your from PHI but what does this have to do with how powerful your gun is? a gun in modern day society has the same power in TX as it does in WA and I doubt it was much different in the great depression, tho I admit im not very knowledgeable when it comes to guns...outside of a AR-15 and a 9MM pistol...So why should where you are have any effect on how powerful your gun is? im just trying to get an understanding of this change and how its going to work. |

It isn't the 'gun' per se that is being impacted, it's your ability to use it in the city. If you're in a distant city where you are unknown, therefore more suspectable to scrutiny, and where you don't know the city, lack of detailed knowledge of the surrounding environment it makes perfect sense from a RP perspective that you would find it far more difficult to kill someone in that city. You don't have the cops in your pocket, you don't own those street corners, you haven't earned the respect or fear of the public there, so being able to kill a target would be more difficult. As for the 'far more cash in Ch/Det', that's a factor. If you want the higher earnings there, it gives you a reason to want to war that side of the game. If you want the flexibility of more flights (1.4 hours between NY/Phi) for the higher baseline change deals and more flexibility with shot selection, that gives you a reason to want the east coast cities. Either has pro's or con's, so it's not a clear cut 'xxxxx is the best'. |

"from where you do your day to day operations"
does this mean specifically, when you're not in your home city?
for example, if I were to spend 99% of my time hanging around NY (im from chi) doing plenty of felonies, oc's petties drugs keelz pick pocketing etc.
would this build my ability to do anything/everything that will be reduced after this change? or will all the decreases that will happen remain permanent regardless of whether i spend the majority of my time in these places? |

| I hold the same reservations as ant here. At the same time it could add more to the rp view point where families need to utilize select members and place them around the country for the family to gain a firmer hand on the world and not just their hometown, or they prefer to have a heavy home front and could careless about other cities. | |
