Bored of slots? Play the ponies Started by: Heaven on Nov 19, '08 04:25
As you walk down the street you pass by various groups of mafiosi. As you scan through each group, you notice one thing in common. A soapbox. Deciding that none of these groups are for you, you decide to keep walking. Passing by the local bars, you spot a small alley. Curious, you decide to take your chances and gander down the secluded alley-way. The once paved path looks old and broken down. Pieces of concrete are cracked, and it seems that the road gets worse the further you go. Still a little curious, you decide to keep on walking.

As you continue your steps, you notice your feet are no longer walking on pavement. The smell of the air is no longer that of a large city, but rather one of a small farm. Ahead in the distance you can see something that looks like a small stadium. As you get closer, the scent becomes ever more prevalent.

Not far ahead, you see a small entrance into this large arena. Walking through the doors, you are bombarded with noise. Sounds of cheering, whips, and hooves hitting the ground make you smile. Looking on, you notice that you have stumbled upon a local horse track.

Knowing exactly what you've stumbled upon you walk straight to the service desk. A man sits behind the counter. Eying you suspiciously, he asks what he can do for you.

"What are the odds on the next race? How often do you run the races?"

The man rolls his eyes

"Ahh. I take it your new to this. Take a look at that over there"

The man points to a flyer hanging on one of the posts. Curious, you take a look

How it works

: There will be one race run every two days.
: Each race will have 10 horses, odds will be posted on all of them.
: You can place bets up until half an hour before a race.
: The minimum bet for any race is $25,000. The maximum is $250,000
: You are only allowed to bet on one horse per race.
: You do not have to be present at the time of the race, the results can be found here, and they will be mailed to you.
: If your horse has won the race, you will receive payment immediately.

How much will I win?

: There will be ten horses in each race.
: Every horse will have some kind of odds attached to it (EG: 2:1, 7:1 etc..)
: EG: If you place a $100,000 bet on horse number 1, which has odds of 3:1, and wins the race, you will receive $400,000.

How do I know I'm not being cheated?

: Security features have been put into effect to ensure a fair playing field.
: All races will be administered by the players (Meaning you get to actually watch the race)
: All bets will be posted publicly. Ensuring community involvement if such a thing were to incur.
: For a full list of security features, please mail our bookie. (Heaven)

Can you afford to pay the winners?

: This track is locally ensured by a number of members throughout our community.
: Your bets are communily backed up to $250,000.
: Funding of this track is mainly via Chase Manhattan bank.
: Other funding sources through private members of the community are also in place.
: Millionaire and entrepreneur Nelson, is one of these private members.

Any more questions? Mail them to me.
