Anita had just returned home after her adventures in New York. Executing Vampires was not an easy task, but someone had to do it. Being only 5'3" tall and of slim build, she always felt at a disadvantage against some of the other guys in the family, but having always been short she never let herself feel intimidated by height. Now, the perfect opportunity presented itself to her. What better way to prove you are as good as if not better than the boys, by beating the absolute shite clean out off one.

She new Micah and Nathaniel would not be happy, but Jean-Claude would understand, and Richard... well Richard could just go to hell if he thought of starting something. She was more than capable of taking care of herself. Phoning her accountant, she got the needed funds sorted and sent to Cantona.

Anita sat back and waited to see which poor sap would end up getting beat like a red-headed Madchild... erm step child.

There we have it, folks, 6 fights for your entertainment all occurring on one night of non stop action! As you can see, we've included another 2 undercard fights on Saturday's still meaning proceedings will begin at the earlier time of 8:20pm mafia time.

At this point, there will be no further fights added to this week's schedule so we can stay on top of things, especially in regards to betting, but upon completion of Saturday fight night you can expect further announcements to follow regarding more scheduled fights. If you'd like to declare your interest for any upcoming events then please let us know; but remember you won't be able to formally register until subsequent bouts are arranged.

I'm down for a throwdown...Lets get it on!!

Well, it has been an absolutely spellbinding first night of action. It went beyond anything either myself or the lovely Ms. Worley dared anticipate and we'd like to thank everyone who took part! 12 competitors, 6 fights, 2 knockdowns, 1 illegal headbutt and over $12,000,000 wagered in the space of about two hours has combined to create an incredibly exciting event - and we can't wait to kick on from here and develop the Fight Nights even further!

The Undercard Results!

Fight 1: In a supernatural encounter, Anita 'Vampire Hunter' Blake took on Phantom in what was a surprisingly one sided encounter, with Anita taking the fight with a unanimous decision.

Fight 2: Given his status as one of the 12 Olympians, many predicted a walkover for Ares, the God of War, in this bout. However, he was off form tonight and deadmoney took the result on a split decision!

Fight 3: A grudge match indeed with the title of 'Detroit's Best Fighter' up for grabs; Arthur 'The Pain' Dayne was in no mood to be intimidated by by the impressive standing McDermott 'Detroit Exploiter' in the Motor City. Dayne took the fight 2 rounds to 1 on a split decision, with only 1 point separating the competitors.

Fight 4: Bragging rights were at stake as two mythological figures clashed. The 'forethinker' representing Hellenica well and truly trounced the dark magic of the Third Dynasty Pharaohs as Prometheus romped to victory over a lacklustre Imhotep.

Fight 5: There was little to choose from between Bellic and Cray in their tense encounter that went to the judges; only for them to award identical points to both boxers. The bout finishes in a dead heat with nothing to separate the boxers. Dare we hope for a rematch?

The Main Event!

The fight we had all been waiting for wasted absolutely no time in grabbing everyone watching by the bollocks and refusing to let go for the full six rounds. Sammy 'The Beast' Gravano representing Chicago in the blue corner started off strong in a bout that had the makings of a true heavyweight classic, but James 'The Cooler' Dalton of Philadelphia in the red corner weathered the storm and responded with a textbook switch hook. Neatly sidestepping a powerful straight from Gravano, Dalton let the man's momentum take him past before delivering a crushing right hook to the side of his cheek. Gravano instantly thundered to the canvas like a falling oak. He was on his knees by three 3 and the referee had stopped counting by 5; but there was time for little else before the bell signified the end of the round. A disappointing end for the Chicagoan who may well have taken the round if not for the fall.

Dalton started the second as he'd ended the first, exploding from his corner in a whirlwind of malevolent energy. His landing percentage was perhaps lower than in the opening round but it scarcely mattered as the sheer barrage of punches he threw was too much for Gravano to handle - his defence was good, but not good enough. He was quickly backed into the ropes and took a number of heavy body shots before, out of desperation, throwing a lowblow in Dalton's direction. Dalton avoided it deftly and whether the referee chose to allow it on the basis or whether he totally missed it was ultimately irrelevant - the round belonged to Dalton with or without the referee's intervention.

The assumption that the fight could not continue at such a brutal and demanding pace was proved correct in the third. Dalton, content in the knowledge that the first two rounds were his, was happy to make Gravano do the work and come to him; Gravano, by comparison, was clearly feeling the effects of a punishing couple of rounds and seemed weary to move in. Eventually, spurred on by a largely supportive crowd, 'The Beast' took Dalton by surprise, moving inside and unleashing a tight combination of uppercuts to the chin and body. Dalton tried to step back and keep The Beast on the outside with a succession of straights, but he was hounded into a mistake, leaving his guard too high and his body open for a crunching body shot that dropped him to his knees. The referee signaled a knockdown but there was no time for a count - a scrappy third round was over.

The third round had shown that Dalton was most comfortable in controlling the fight and had looked shaken when Gravano pressed him. The Chicago corner knew it was something they had to exploit; but they were caught totally unawares by the speed and ferocity that Dalton began the fourth round. Within seconds, Gravano was on the ropes and taking a vicious hook-hook-uppercut combination to the body. The sheer exertion of the combo gave Gravano a second to react, and he did so by gripping Dalton - the first clinch of the fight. The referee was quick to break it up but the cracks were beginning to show for Gravano has apparently began to run out of steam. Whether the brief reprieve of the hold gave him a second wind or whether he felt the need to cover up, Gravano was straight back on the offensive as play resumed. Dalton anticipated the move inside, though, and his footwork and defense were much better at the close of the 4th.

If the script of the fight was Gravano running out of steam in the 4th round, it was obviously a script that Gravano hadn't read as he amazingly came out swinging in the 5th looking considerably fresher than his counterpart. The fighting at this stage was certainly a far cry from the tight, technical executions witnessed in the opening rounds as the handwork from both fighters was incredibly sloppy. Gravano landed much more than Dalton, but there wasn't enough on them. The Beast did enough to win the round in the eyes of the judges, but had he left it too late?

The fact that both boxers were still in the fight until the 6th round was credit to their cutmen's skills as much as their own dedication. Sammy looked the worst for wear as the cheek and eye that had caught the worst of Dalton's haymaker in the first round was severely swollen. It was a visible weakness that 'Dirty Dalton' took brutal advantage of. Once again, Gravano was on top and as Dalton moved in for the clinch he combined the manoeuvre with a calculated, explosive headbutt directly into the swollen area of Sammy's face. It was incredible the the referee missed it and, upon the resumption of play, it only took 2 jabs for the swelling to split open in a torrent of blood. The referee had no choice but to stop the fight, and Dalton was declared the winner in extremely controversial circumstances.

There we have it, the round up of all this week's action. At the time of writing, all winners have received their prize fun and their share of the gambling take, where applicable, will be delivered by Alabama's men shortly - if it hasn't already been done already which means that at the end of Week 1, the BALB Standings look like this:

Although the ranking figures don't mean too much now, there will be a few announcements over the coming days in regards to additional features and changes to the way Fight Night will be run; including a comprehensive overhaul of winnings structure, as well as that of the fights themselves.
