GAME CHANGE: NPC District Event Update Started by: Squishy on Jul 29, '13 00:31

Starting Tuesday July the 30th the following change is will be enabled:

When a district is laid to waste and completely cleared out of all crews, if 2 weeks passes without a replacement CL* going into that district, the NPCs will rise up and attack all of those who attacked in the war on members of that home district.  This gives proper motivation directly to those who took part in the situation, and leaves innocents out of it.  This is 100% driven by code, with no knowledge of backroom conversations about who owns the district.  The burden is put on all those who participated in the killing of that particular crew and the residents with that district claimed as their home.

CL* = Actual crewelader, not a temporary crew that goes up and then sells their HQ to use it as a loophole.

Report Post Tip

Will the NPC crew target specific shooters/crews or will it be blanketed over a district/city?

Report Post Tip

For people who see are not on IRC to see.

<&IzzyCreamcheese> you have to shoot a corktown home city person

<&IzzyCreamcheese> if you hit and kill them

<&IzzyCreamcheese> you are on the list

Report Post Tip

Will the NPC crew target specific shooters/crews or will it be blanketed over a district/city?

Like the example above (We used corktown as an example), only those that actively take part in the war, those are on the list of people who are targeted if they district lays empty long enough for the NPC Uprising.

Report Post Tip

I don't know if this was asked or brought up on IRC. Is this NPC event coded to only happen in one city? We've seen more wars than we can count where allies in different cities team up. The last time Corktown, DT was occupied the crew was taken out by more than one city. Chicago was obviously one of them, but it was a different city that offered the "Why we did it." street speech. I'm not trying to stir up anything here. I'm just trying to get a better understanding how this works.

Report Post Tip

I don't believe the city of the attacker has any relevance, so any individual from any city that shot at someone in the empty district would be targeted.

Report Post Tip

Alright, thanks. I see that now that I reread the others posts.

Report Post Tip

I'm just trying to get a better understanding how this works.

 Example:

23 people from all ranks, and all families in all districts, in all cities - take it upon themselves to wipe out a district.  If that district goes 2 weeks without a crew leader setting up shop there, the NPCs from the empty district will rise up and target those specific 23 people.

Report Post Tip

Squishy based on that.

Who can actually target the NPCs?

So say for sake of arguments Cpt-Harris, Solastalgia, JakeLuciano, Lynch, Ladyfighter and Gohan took down Blackbottom with 2 shots each. Then I am presuming in 2 weeks and NPC army would rise and attack the above 6 players. Would the NPCs be targettable by each person from the named peoples districts?

What happens about BG wackers pre death? Will they included in the target list?

I quite like this feature.

Report Post Tip

Underdog, only the people targeted are able to attack the NPCs. And as of now it is only people who wacked someone in the district, but people brought up the role of proers and BG wackers on IRC, so it is possible those will be included in some way in the future.

Report Post Tip

What happens in the event of a full scale world war like we saw a few months ago where there may not be enough people to fill up all the districts that were removed?

Report Post Tip

When there is a full site war, we retain about the same number of members, so its not like there are not enough members to fill an area.  If there is a situation where there is simply 0 high rankers available, and no matter what way we shuffle people around that there would still be empty districts, we can always override it.

Report Post Tip

I know we're ultimately talking about a hypothetical scenario here...but in the event of big site wide war like in May; I don't think the approach of 'simply 0 high rankers' is necessarily the best way forward...it places us in a position where as players, we may have to auth people simply because they are there, not because they've done anything to deserve it. It's something which potentially de-values one of the most important aspects of the game.

If there was a site wide war, I think the best approach would be to listen to the remaining leaders have have a discourse about why they haven't authed for whatever reason/

Report Post Tip

I will be honest I have concerns that this could be used as a way to generate kills for people as has been seen in Detroit recently. Further more based on the answer given by Zalitz.

Yesterday Frank_Sinatra was shot dead by an individual lets say it was Cantona, from what I can work out if the district isn't filled in 14 days then a NPC family will arrive with only Cantona being able to shoot them.

Furthermore lets say for arguments sake we get a rogue who kills a CL, the rogue gets taken down no CL in 14 days who will be able to attack the NPC crew with the killer already dead.

Report Post Tip

could be used as a way to generate kills for people

The removal of any gains from an District Event would remove all possibility of any benefit.

Yesterday Frank_Sinatra was shot dead by an individual lets say it was Cantona, from what I can work out if the district isn't filled in 14 days then a NPC family will arrive with only Cantona being able to shoot them.

Then maybe its better to spawn the city, and the attacker(s)?

Furthermore lets say for arguments sake we get a rogue who kills a CL, the rogue gets taken down no CL in 14 days who will be able to attack the NPC crew with the killer already dead.

If the only attacker is dead, and he managed to wipe out an entire district, then no spawn would happen since there is no one to spawn against?  (Although it could be looked at the same as above, maybe it should always spawn one for the city, and also the attackers, this way this cant really be "used against someone"

Report Post Tip

I personally think the NPCs should be attackable by the city they spawn in.

They should primarily target the district containing the initial aggressor, however if someone from another district starts shooting then they are involved by proxy and should be shooting back at them.

That is how a real war would start.

Report Post Tip

underdog, you've got it backward. it's not about who can attack the NPCs, it's about who the NPCs attack. the NPCs will shoot the people izzycreamcheese mentioned. but anyone with a gun can take a return

Report Post Tip

Has this event/code been cancelled/removed?
