Skills and Stats Started by: Toberius on Aug 27, '13 16:48

Naturally, your skills and stats will affect how your character 'behaves' or 'responds' in regards to coded events; some skills are trainable, some are not. Your character stats are not viewable because this has always been a game with an element of 'mystery' to it, but based on the information the game provides/hints at, you can get a pretty good idea. This thread will give you all of that information.

The Skills

WACK - Referred to as 'marksmanship'. This skill is used in the Wack and BG Wack features - the higher your skill is, the stronger the characters you can wack and the more damage you will do to BGS. WACK can be trained by using the shooting range and by killing other players. Information on shooting can be found here and it's very important you read them before you start training.

PICKPOCKET - Referred to as 'physique'. This skill is used for pickpocketing and can only be increased by pickpocketing other players.Pickpocketing provides a decent amount of experience and you can pickpocket once an hour. Careful, though, if you pickpocket a player who does not wanted to be pickpocketed, they can mug you - taking all of the cash you have on hand and messing with your flight/wack timers. See the family rules for more information on PPing.

STEALTH - Referred to as 'stealthiness'. This skill is how stealthy you are, surprisingly. The higher your stealth, the great info/vision people will need to see you on the locals page. In additon, a better stealth skill will result in witness statements of your wacks and pickpockets showing asteriksin them (making it harder to decipher who the witness statement is about). The is only only skill that cannot ever be trained or improved upon, although it increases gradually with rank as do all skills.

INFO/VISION - Referred to as 'streetsmarts'. This is the counter to stealth. The higher your info/vision is, the more people you will be able to see on the locals page; and witness statements will contain less asterisks. This skill can be relatively easily trained by posting in thestreets and the business district - which has the added bonus of impressing your potential future leader!

DEFENCE - This is the skill that depends how well you will respond to attacks, both Wack and Pickpocketing. This skill cannot be directly trained, but Bodyguards will improve your defence stat, as will the level of your Family HQ's level of fortifications - if you are in your home city.

CRIME - Referred to as 'intimidation'. Your Crime stat depends how easily are are able to commit petties and felonies. This is the most easily trained of all your skills and has little bearing upon your character after the first few hours.

JAILBREAKING - Referred to as 'Breaking and Entering'. This skill is used for jailbreaking and is the only way to train it. Jailbreaking is one of the easiest ways to accrue experience and jailbreaks can be done every 20 seconds; as a result, the jailbreaking skill is relatively easy to train - starting on low guard numbers and slowly working you're way up when you are consistently succeeding is the best way to improve.
