The Sins of the Father Started by: GabrielBonanno on Sep 07, '13 20:54

After finally getting home from a long day’s work Gabriel looked up at his small quaint house contentedly and smiled. Being a Boss in a mafia family, Gabriel was wealthy and powerful in Philadelphia and easily could have lived in a mansion; but being one to avoid the lime light, glamor, and attention - also being a street man at heart - he instead lived in modest one-story house with his wife and son. He was by all accounts a devoted family man. Unlike many of his fellow Mafioso, Gabriel had no round of girlfriends, and he never went looking for broads. He did his best to be away from home never for more than a few days when business required, and most of the time called to check on his wife nights he was out late. In earlier days many might have scoffed at Gabe's actions and gone so far as to ridicule him, but none did so now... for he may have been kind and compassionate to his family, but that was to them alone. To other Mafioso he was a stone cold killer, brutal and violent even by mafia standards. Tonite happened to be another night he got home late and, as always, he found his wife having fallen asleep on the couch awaiting her husband's return and their son dutifully waiting by her side, though having fallen asleep as well. Taking his time, tired as well, he carried his wife to bed, and then his son who he found awoke swiftly. However, Gabe shushed his son quietly as his son asked if they could spend the coming day together. But Gabriel shook his head quietly and sadly and replied.

"I have to leave very earlier tomorrow and I'll be gone a few days."

"Can I come?" His son asked as sadness came across his young face.

"No, not this time." Gabe answered, pain obviously constricting his voice as he spoke.

"Why do you have to go?" his son looked up at him painfully not understanding.

"Because I have to do business." Gabe answered quietly, looking down at his son.

"I could help you...,” his son said looking up at his papa admiringly.

"Someday you will my son, someday.............." smiling down at his son, Gabe kissed his forehead good night.
