Cleanup - The Aftermath of Gohan Started by: MeyerLansky on Sep 12, '13 02:20

The celebrations of Gohan continued throughout the day. Handshakes, hugs, drinks, expensive cigars. The life was probably going good for most of them. Meyer was sure Livia and Mike were damn near cuddled up by now. His good friends were sure to get some exercise tonight.

But that wasn't Meyer's past time tonight. He had spent most of the day getting rid of bodies. He had stored most of them in the back of the Philly Steak Bar freezer. The old one that tends to overheat and shut down after 24 hours of continuous work. It had been replaced a year ago, but it still came in handy for certain "occasions."

After they had been piled in, everyone left. Meyer was alone. Work was yet to be done for him. He had about 45 minutes to get everything set up before his assistant arrived.

First, he had the manager close the store bar. No drinks were to be served today. The bar had great placement for a job like this. Nice back alley, with an appropriate hearse waiting for each body bag.
There were two reasons to use a hearse. One, lots of space. Two, what copper will desecrate a persons remains in a casket on the off chance that a bunch of chopped up mobsters lay inside?

Second, Meyer returned to the backroom off from the kitchen. Just next to the freezer. It's usually used as a "break room for waitresses and bus boys." Yeah... Right... Actually, it was a meeting spot and private room for mobsters and upper structure to meet, make deals, and unwind. Meyer pulled back the the un-anchored carpet and removed the pictures from the walls. He then removed wall panels that to the eye looked fancy and expensive, but were shown to be pieces of plywood that snap together to make a box. Nice wallpaper and a wooden ledge mounted on one side to give it the presentation. Behind the panels and carpet there was tile floor, tiled walls, drain in the floor. Why would a break room look so much like a shower room? Oh yeah, this was also used as Meyer's "workplace" He walks into the kitchen and grabs a prep table, placing it in the center of the room. After covering it with plastic, he returns to the kitchen. Hooking up a hose from the corner to the sink, he drags it back to the "work room." After a few more moments of prep...  ensuring the doors were locked and sealed with plastic and rags.

A knock.

"
Yeah," Meyer called out.

The knock came again. Louder.

"
What the fuck ya want?"

A louder knock even, almost as if someone was trying to kick the door down.

"Am I caught? Cops? Do they know? Did someone forget to pay some punk trying to prove himself?" he thought to himself.

Whoever was on the other side of that door was about one good swat away from kicking the door off it's hinges when it swung open.

There stood Joe the Bartender and Jimmy Hunt, Mike's nephew. Jimmy  was a little special, and a mute to boot. He couldn't talk, nor could he remember much, but he could pick up a grown man with his left arm.

"Sorry Jimmy, I didn't know you were here. Meyer, my apologies." The bartender looked scared shitless with his hand still on the knob.

"
It's alright, Joe. Go home." Meyer hastily replied. That was probably all he would say for the next 6 hours aside from a "set it here," or "move it there"

Jimmy grunted at Meyer. "Yeah yeah, you've done this before, kid. You'll do fine." he thought of saying, but instead kept his lips closed. Despite his usual stone like emotion, Meyer had a soft spot for the odd. People under privileged, or those making an honest living. Those struggling. He wasn't sure why but he respected it.

Before they got started, Meyer had Jimmy help him bring 8 caskets into the kitchen, stacking them in the corner. To most people this would seem odd, but Jimmy didn't ask a question or give a look. He just followed directions and whistled radio tune while they worked.

After the caskets were set, Meyer lead Jimmy to the freezer and one by one they removed each body.

Jimmy was only here for the heavy lifting and was told to wait in the kitchen while the "work" was going on. Work meant removing any signs of identification. The tips of the fingers, the hair on their heads. Dental records weren't that widely circulated, yet Meyer still took time to remove teeth and sometimes and entire jaw if anything looked identifiable. All the lose ends were put in a bin to the side. That bin would be emptied into a hole in the country later. Luckily, Meyer had a lot of relation. And a lot of relation meant a lot of farmers, and more importantly, a lot of acreage. He could hid stuff like this all over the state. It would take the coppers decades to find it all.

The next thing was tattoos and other identifiable body markings. Tattoos weren't all that common but in the mob some crews were covered with them. This was one of those crews. Meyer hated it. Not the horror of putting a grinding wheel to flesh, but just the mess. More work...

The first 3 bodies would have been enough to make most men turn white, even men in this line of work... but Meyer knew, the first 5 would be horror shows. After that, most of the body would be frozen. Less mess.

26 bodies in total. Burning would have been faster, but there was no where to do it without hauling all the bodies for 20 miles. Meyer had chopped everything up quite well. 6 trips would be all that would be needed. Get everything in the casket and take it out of town.

Meyer had Jimmy help get a casket into the room, but he personally arranged the pieces inside while the mute waited in the kitchen. After everything was set, he would cover the bags where he had dumped the remaining parts and he would put a lid on the corner bin, keeping it all out of Jimmy's sight. The duo then moved the casket into the freezer exchanging it for an empty. After 6 of the caskets were filled, they returned the two remaining caskets to the car outside.

"
Take these back and return with 2 more cars." Meyer said, wondering if he could fit caskets in side by side.

Meyer had Jimmy wait outside while he cleaned the room. About the time he finished, washing everything down the drivers returned.

"
Jimmy, the drivers will help me finish, you run along and tell your Uncle that the job is set and I'm heading to Nora's. Tell him to send someone by to finish the cleanup of the break room." Meyer paused for a moment "And take this..." Meyer handed him an envelope. "You've been a good boy Jimmy. You take care now."

After the drivers help him load the cars, Meyer smiled. Side by side indeed. He handed each driver an envelope, "You get the other half after you help me unload." He turned to the original driver, "Jack, I'll ride with you in the lead car." And with that he opened the passenger door to the lead car.

As they started to pull out Jack turned to Meyer attempting to start conversation, "
Holy fuck, you work quick!"

"
No talking, let's just get this done. Now let me get some sleep. Wake me when we're in Laporte. We'll be close then."

They headed North, to Aunt Nora's. He'd find a nice hole there.
