The Great Cthulhu shakes his head at how quickly we are to dismiss the very tenets our ancestors set in place for us so that we might all prosper and continue on with the family traditions. Sure, we're all bad dogs barking up a series of increasingly obfuscated social mores. We're villians. Murderers. Bank robbers all. We are also People. People with mouths to feed and responsibilities. We don't indiscriminately kill and maim. We are businessmen. At the end of the day we drink a few beers and go home to the wife and kids. We don't like undue attention or anything that may infringe on our way of life. We grease the palms of the cops on the beat, we pay off the detectives, we have the mayors and D.A.'s in our pockets. We own Senators and Representatives. We manipulate the stockmarket. We take care of business with a minimum of violence. We aim for longevity and empires. To that end, the very fabric of the Four Pillars are inextricably intertwined with our souls. They run through our veins. Life without them is an endless dystopic cycle of chaos and ruin. We aren't ordinary men and women. We are better than that. We are La Cosa Nostra. We aspire to greatness. We are hardwired to transcend the common and live up to the standards our forefathers set for us. We may be little more than common street thugs and cold-blooded killers but there is a tradition of excellence that we must live up to.

The Great Cthulhu is not waxing nostagic or looking through the jaded eyes of Shupnikkurat. Rather he is just pointing out that we are all just little gears in a big machine. We do our part with honour and pride. Together. We all benefit. Organized crime is inherently dangerous and risky. Because of the Four Pillars we know how to conduct ourselves as professionals.
