Let me put it a better way. The "auth to be" tells us what he/she wants to do and such. Someone is bothered about what the other leaders will do if they object. So they let it slide, then go kill them at a later date because they dont like their ideas (This does happen and HAS happened before). I would rather see an idea in practice so I can judge how it is effecting the rest of the community or the said auth to be's family. |

Well yes I do see where you coming from with that, but if someone feels threatened enough about an idea by someone who is a potential auth then who's to say they won't act even sooner on an idea that has been put forward by a current auth. At the end of the day an idea is only someones way of thinking and if one of the current leaders was to remain quiet and then act well it could lead to even more complications. Besides I never said that the ideas should be discussed with all the CL's just the potential auth's own. Just because someone is put forward to the other acting godfathers as a potential auth doesn't mean to say they all have to be let in on the auth's plans. I doubt that yourselves will put just anyone forward for auth and I'm sure that the other acting godfathers would respect your opinion enough to know that whoever you do nominate you aren't doing it lightly. |

Should the crewleaders really auth someone solely because they've achieved a certain rank? What determines if someone is qualified to run a headquarters? How should the crewleaders select the new auth? A competent crewleader would already know the answers to these questions. They would know exactly what would make a "good" leader. If they don't know, then what makes said "leader" a leader and how did the ever get the chance to set up? If by some chance it was necessity, when the crisis was over, why were they not "relieved" of their CL duties? Well, the answer to all of those questions has become, "we don't know." Yes, we have ideas, and we've all been tossing them around, but the ideal one has not surfaced. For this reason, we're turning to you all. Turning to me....Do you not realize we look to you for guidance? We are suppose to be be loyal, and follow your directions without hesitation. What does it look like if we are suppose to follow you through the gates of hell, we do, then you turn to me and say, "What do I do now?" I lose all faith in you, the confidence I had in your competency level goes out the window. If you were in our shoes, what selection method you utilize in order to select the most qualified Mafioso to open a headquarters in Las Vegas? Since you have already ashamed yourself by asking for a mere peons advice, I will tell you. What traits do you think make a "decent" leader? Figure out a way to find out who has them that is appling, see who has them and there you go. Best way to do that is asking questions, its called an interview process. Its not hard, just a little thinking involved. |

This makes me sad and quiet angry. The AGF's have no idea how to appoint another CL for the remaining cities of New Orleans or Las Vegas. They have sank to the point of asking for help from the underdogs. The ones who don't care who is running what, as long as they are left alone. How can the AGF's actually accept advice and recommendations from the people who don't care how the cities are run. Or the ones who think they can actually do a job of being CL to these people. People it seems to me that what we need here are AGF's who know enough to appoint someone who fits in, listens, takes advice, and care about our cities welfare. After the fiasco with DiscoDuck and Kreed, seems like some of them would have learned something. |

| What about giving Auths for those people who helped the current AGF Council win the last war? Sometimes people tend to forget that they can't be where they are right now if not for all those people who helped and sacrificed for them. | |

| They aren't asking for help, bite_me. Our Boss, SWYW has a bloodline that has been a leader many times over. He knows what he's doing. I think this was an idea to spark conversation and see if anyone had any unique and original ideas, and perhaps an original topic for street discussion to get people out here. It wasn't a desperate plea for help. | |

"Everyone seems to be wondering what exactly the crewleaders are going to do with the now-vacant city of Las Vegas." Leave it vacant. It's only been five days since you guys clipped DiscoDucks, and almost two since Rancid died... no reason to quickly rush and fill the city. (OOC: Realistically, there was no Las Vegas family.) |

Ideally, always in my opinion, the person that should get authorised to set up his/her own family should be the one that has those influential powers upon the city's system so that the wealth of all Mafia Family leaders to benefit as a whole. However, in our world, the above can not easily be applied therefore I would recommend to the Crewleaders to auth a person that fulfils their main criteria - and to explain if they want a forum active Crew Leader, they should auth such a person. If they want someone that they want to trust and have their backs covered, then they should auth such a person and so on. As to the rank requirement, I personally think that ranks are useful within Families and can not be compared cross-family wise. For example, you should not compare a MM of a certain family with a CL with the rank of Wiseguy. *lights a cigarette and walks away... |

Yes, Lucy, this is exactly what we want. We wanted someone to come up with a unique idea. Hell, we could auth someone right now if we wanted. But it would be doing it the same old ways as we've always had. We are here to try new and different things and if someone comes up with a fresh idea that we all seem to like, then why not try it out? If you think we can't make decisions bite_me then you are horribly wrong. We just thought that the idea of freshness would spark a little debate among everyone. If you want us to rule with an iron fist, we can do that too. Although I'm sure you would be moaning when we did it. |

In my opinion, if someone isn't competent enough to run a family and have their own HQ, then why should they be Made? Someone that has reached the coveted rank of Made should have the competence to be able to run a family relatively effectively. If I were promoting someone that was incompetent and couldn't run a crew of 10 people to begin with, then I'd be quite concerned with my own promotion methods. It's understandable that you wouldn't want people constantly mailing you asking you to put in a good word if you're a RHM, or asking the CL to do what they can... But there is a relatively traditional solution which has already been advised to an extent. Each person that wishes to be considered for auth should be a minimum of Earner, and if they wish to be considered for auth, then they should MM a designated CL or RHM (or other) with a formal application asking to be considered. Once this application has been submitted, the individual should be informed that if they persist with requesting auth more than this one time, their name will be scrubbed off the list of possibilities. It may be possible to say on the streets that the CLs are looking to auth someone on a designated date, and applications should be submitted by another certain date and the individuals should be a specified rank (Earner or Wise Guy and above). I believe that it would be better to wait for the best auth, than to rush into authing someone just because they reached a certain rank. |

I remember my mother telling me that most people who wish to have a family one day usually have no clue on what they were going to do after getting that bold suit, other than managing their families. It seems to me, that most people put their efforts on the requirements to become a leader, but totally forget that they should actually lead after becoming bold. Leading is not just managing your family. I think that's exactly the reason why in the past we have had leaders that only managed their families. We would often see Acting Godfathers that has never implemented a new rule or tried something new and creative within their respective cities. Managing a family is not a difficult thing to do, so I believe that if it was me who had to choose someone to become a leader, I would look for someone that wants to try something different, someone that would present a new creative idea of what he or she could potentially implement in a near future. Now, I realize what people will say. If they mention their ideas to the public, others might steal it. I believe such ideas should only be presented to the Acting Godfathers. Your idea may get stolen regardless, but a chance of going bold is always about taking risks. |
