| VIPS at the Drug Front | Started by: Cantona on Nov 04, '13 19:50 |

There's been ongoing discussion on what can be done to incentive posting and what rewards/extras should be available for individuals who are regular VIP posters, and for districts which can stay/remain at the top of the rankings. I thought of an option this morning that seams elegantly neat and I can't really see any downsides to it: The higher a district's VIP points, the more Drug Front Properties are available in that district The RP makes sense. You can either spin it as: A) The more well known a mobster/organisation is in their territory, the more clout they have to be able to strongarm a local business owner into letting them use their store as a 'front'. If Gino the Butcher hasn't heard of you, he will turn you away; if your reputation precedes you because your soldiers are always on the streets and in the business district, Gino will think twice B) The more a mobster and his friends are seen in public putting themselves about, the more they will try to cultivate the image of some kind of local business magnate/philanthropist - the more you develop your public reputation (posts/threads) the more authorities/the press will believe you to be a stand up business man and the less attention your various businesses will receive, allowing the scope for more drug fronts! How it would work The beauty of the system is your hard work is rewarded whether you're in 1st,5th or last. If you and your crew slog and post post post but get pipped into 1st place, you still see a return on 'investment' because the amount of DFPs available would be tied to points and not ranking. Conversely, this means that a city that hits the top artificially; after a massive war, say, they wouldn't necessarily see an explosion in DFP availability. In an event that a district had, say, 10 DFPS, and the post ranking fell to a number that meant the district could only support 9; there would be a dice roll to select a random DFP in the district which would be raided by City's finest. Pros - Promotes the forums Cons - I can't really think of any other than it delivering yet more money into the game that isn't particularly needed. Perhaps to combat this, the time it takes to break even on a DFP is extended?
Lemme know what you think! |

I like this idea. It would provide one of the most direct (without being too generous) rewards that correlates with posting, aside from the tip feature, and allows for smaller districts that have more active posters to compete with larger ones that acquire their DFP's solely on their size. I'm not quite too sure what new benefits are being included in being the top district aside from the "mapping" feature, (as I'm not sure they've been implemented yet) but this would be a welcome inclusion, in my opinion. |

I concur that this would be smart. |
