Are you a Sponsor Started by: Husky on Nov 05, '13 00:15

Husky tries to roam around again in the street and observe, he notice people recruit some new faces in their family, this people are the people better known to us as the Sponsors. He notice one of them, after recruiting, he just leave him alone and let him fly to our street without telling what he really needs to do nor guide him to what we call success in our shore. One question comes to his mind...

Sponsors what are your real jobs?

To me the job of a sponsor is not simply to recruit but try and get a member involved in this thing.keep their attention and try to help develop the person socially and mentally into someone who can face any challenges and in time pass on the knowledge obtained to others.

I think an associate has to understand what this is expected of them in this society as well as question a family if it is failing to attract, innovate and inspire where possible.  I want my associate to be able to do what i do in time, unfortunately we live in a society where sometimes no matter what you do your associates have a limit to what they can achieve in a time frame as have a legitimate living too.

Being a sponsor, for me, is at first feeling the associate out, setting them up with some start up scratch to run drugs with and such, and then eventually laying out the basics of our world to them. The later two happen once in the family.

Its all a learning process. Teaching them how to act in the streets, and coffeeshops, even the business districts require a certain "character" lets say, and I try to help the associate find " themselves " in that respect. Its an ever growing relationship that you eventually nurture, inspire, and progress together. ( Ask RemyLeFuckinBeau )

I agree with BackToShootPeeps, where the associate hasn't dedicated their life to crime, and still have a respectable image to uphold elsewhere. You can work with what ya got, and sometimes it's not much. Doesn't stop me/us from putting in the time.

Yeah i like the challenge especially of a fresh enthusiastic mind as is raw and ambitious and that can sometimes be more of  challenge.  Is not hard to feel an associate out due to their responses sometimes, the hardest part sometimes is getting a reply or watching one your in conversation be snatched under your nose with one mail from another family saying do you want to join a crew basically but does make you worry for the future both on recruitment and associates in some cases.

Exactly BTSP I feel like if you but in the work in feeling the associate out first and actually give forth effort in their recruitment, then all of a sudden one mail saying "do you want to join our family" catches their attention and loyalty.. I kinda feel like that's not really an associate that you would want anyway.. But again just my thoughts.

yeah one was taken in recently by this sort of mail to a family and next day obits.

After hearing of the idea of the others he nods.

I do agree with you all, but sometimes our Sponsors forget that when our leaders give us a nod on the job. We have to make sure that we have to take care of our associates. If you have been given the job as a captain of the family (Sponsors), it only means that, under your wings, you have to deal with teaching them the way of our life, you have to give them task to snatch a bag of that lady, to make sure that the store that we protect gives the right cut for us, we have to teach them how to steal the right way, we have to remind them to holster their guns and just use it whenever we say it. To give them advice. I do believe that when we teach we also learn, for the associates to learn Respect and love their jobs, for us, we learn leadership, we learn power. If being associate is a start for them for a crime life, for the sponsors, for us is an opening to a bigger role. Hard worker associates will be given a chance to be a sponsor someday, they will continue what you have done for them, and as for the sponsors, a hard working one, i think a big shot will be given to you in the near future.

i think the main problem is frequently not all leaders observe or monitor who is being brought in, how or why as long as the crew is growing as has been seen recently by comments of whoring and the same person still a hand or sponsor or both.

"This is an interesting conversation altogether. I have the mind set that whoring is whoring, no matter how you try to twist it. There is a difference between knowing who you're recruiting personally, recruiting them as in actually getting to know a little bit about the person you're about to sponsor, and whoring yourself an invite without going through a proper process. Each one is very different.

Personally, I don't like seeing some of the things that take place, but people do notice and take note of it I'm sure. Just wish everyone would spend a little more time getting to know the person you are recruiting and what their abilities are rather then inviting ever joe that comes around the block. It's all fun and games until you lend your trust to the wrong person. Then it's a disaster."

" Hmmm. This conversation has caught my attention. I like to tell my opinion about sponsoring. I think that the sponsors' job is to find members who have potential. It doesn't matter if the associate is new or not. People learn everyday. The only question is how willing the person is to learn our world. The job is to make the new ones develop an interest to MR and make them stay here while teaching them the ways of life.

So how about sponsoring the people who already know MR? Sponsors should make sure that the loyalty of the associate is to the wellness of the crew and the district.

Sponsors have different ways on how they choose and sponsor their associates. They may whore people just to make the family bigger. On how they do it is their choice.

The only thing important is to take responsibility. It may look bad that some sponsors whoring and stuff but it has some positive and negative effects. They have just to face the consequences of their actions like any mafioso".

Snidely smiles sheepishly as he pets his list of associates. Or as he liked to call them, his little minions. It said a lot about someone when they could not only keep on the role they're supposed to play within a family, but branch out their knowledge and extend it upon others so that they may become better. Politely waiting his turn, Snidely steps forward and lights a cigarette

"What is a sponsor? Well, at the base level it's quite simple; we are people who are able, and encouraged, to help along the fresh civilians around this world. But if we stopped there, we'd not even come close to doing our job. A sponsor is someone who should aim to mentor and guide their associates all the way up to their Made Man promotion, and sometimes further. We are intermediaries between the associate, and the CrewLeader. Most people don't follow the chain of command too strictly anymore, which is sad, but there used to be a time when you had to go through someone else to talk to your leader unless you were Made+"

Snidely pauses momentarily to take the last few drags of his cigarette, carelessly tossing it behind him in the street. Hopefully some squirrel would get cancer. Stupid rats.

"Anyway, I can't speak for all sponsors... But my goal as a sponsor is to at least impart half of the things I know about this place upon them. I aim not only to make them stronger as an individual, but hopefully stronger as an entire bloodline. If my teachings help along my associates, and their kin, get farther in life than they'd have been able to on their own, my mission is a success."

Snidely smiles and brushes the hair from out of his face. It wasn't too often he made it out to the streets, but it wasn't nearly as scary as some had hinted. Chuckling, he leans against the side of a building with a smirk on his face. Awaiting the next person to give their input, he takes a swig from his flask and lights another cigarette.
