Okay, I never win contests. My luck is basically shit. Scratch-off lottery tickets basically laugh at me when I buy them, every good luck charm in my life has withered and died, and I'm fairly sure that Lady Luck uses me as her toilet.
HOWEVER... today that all changed! I won a radio contest! My co-worker/friend has been trying to win a contest being held by the local station for about two weeks now. Call in, be caller "10", and win a free CD and get entered into a drawing for a trip to see the American Music Awards in Los Angeles. My co-worker has spent the better part of two weeks trying to get me to participate, and every day I've been like "NOT NOW WENDY I AM BOOKING LOANS GOD." Today I decided, meh, screw it, I'm competitive and I can dial a phone number with the fastest of them, maybe I'll try my hand at getting in. I tried calling in the three separate times they announced it.
The first time I was caller two. And then caller six. Close, but no cigar.
The second slotted time, the phone lines were so busy all I heard was the consistent, harsh tone of the busy signal.
The third time... holy crap- I'm being asked for my name and location. I was caller 10! Weeee! I have been on Cloud 9 since. The enjoyment of winning was just crazy, plus I got to be on the radio, which was exciting. I am now the proud owner of the new Pink CD, and have been entered in to the AMA contest drawing.
This isn't a contest I necessarily wanted to win, but it felt good winning something for once. So, for those here who want to divulge... what is your "I Won" story? Anyone want to share their happy feelings of joy and wonderment and wonderment and joy? |

(And yes, for those wondering, I do feel bad for Wendy not winning. And yes, I would totally make her my +1 if she didn't absolutely hate traveling. I might burn a copy of the Pink CD for her, though.) |

Last week a friend of mine won megadeath tickets. She doesn't even like metal. I love megadeath so much ... United Abominations is one of four CDs I've ever actually bought. And she won't even trade the tickets with me for another show that she would like to see. Something about "I won them so I should be the one that goes." I haz a huge jelly. |

And nooooooooo that is absolutely unfair, Drunky! I get the whole "I won them" thing, but if she's not even going to use them it almost seems like a waste!! Maybe she'll change her mind! |

my luck is normally in the random stuff, a bit back at a club meeting a lady passed out and it upset one of the other lady's so she left, before she did though, she leans over and hands me the only ticket she had bought.. Now every month for months I've been buying sets of 5 tickets every meeting, this was the first time my mom got a set and I didn't, forgot to grab my cash to do so, so here I am, with one ticket and can't even paying attention because I NEVER win.. Ya... I won a box of fabric and a pumpkin candle holder ^.^ Nice score Kourtney, I hope you win, would be fun to swing down and see ya while you're in Cali ^.^ |

Here's a little story of my own It all started a long time a go, when I was a wee lad my parents had a friend who was the manager of a local cinema. This cinema was selected by Nickelodeon to give away 1 of their prize packs from Rugrats in Paris that included a 53" big screen television, DVD player loads of nick swag, and an original movie cell. The first showing of the movie that day that they were supposed to give the prize away no one showed, the second showing again no one showed. In fear of losing the chance to give the prize away the manager called my father and told us to come down to the cinema and watch this movie, not telling us why just that it would be worth while. Just before the movie started a representative from Nickelodeon came in and congratulated me for being the lucky kid who was seated in the right theater at the right time that won this amazing prize pack. So we may have cheated a little, but I won the prize none the less. |
