GAME CHANGE: Casino Changes Started by: Squishy on Dec 12, '13 23:55

Casinos are no longer purchasable by users.  In a few hours, there will always be a fully stocked casino in every city.  Existing owners were reimbursed... heavily... for their casinos.

We will be adding some new games down the road, so be sure to check them out periodically.

I can't pretend I'm not very disappointed in this change; but I think I can see the logic behind it.

I get it, But i'm not sure I dig it.

I can't pretend I'm not very disappointed in this change; but I think I can see the logic behind it.

It doesn't benefit the game when we go any period of time with out casinos in every area.  It also limits the introduction of new games.  I can now introduce new games and not have to worry about stepping on someones toes.  Also, I don't have to worry about the economy getting bloated by under pricing games, for example, poker earned 2.8 billion in rake, yet was priced at 25 million.  Theres many benefits on the mass user level, as well as the economy level to this change - enough so that I felt this was a necessary change and now was the best time to put in in since there was such a limited number of casino owners now versus previous times.

I have mixed feelings on this one, on the one hand I can gamble in any city but ultimately this will remove money from the game rather than just moving it about between players with no new way to add more cash. Also when the casino's where re-codded they where balanced so the house had a better chance of winning as to make it worth the 22mil initial cost of the casino.

Ragnar raises a fair point. what code adjustments will be made to balance out the income/outflow of money from the game due to the casinos?

This helps negates the free credits that I spawn all the time, which eventually overinflate the economy, this means I can continue doing them without any real long term damage to the economy since I've been especially a little heavy on the "Send" button lately.

Report Post Tip

As neither an owner or a big casino player, i will be honest i am interested to see how taking money out of the game affects the marketplace and the mass storage of credits.  Also will be interesting the time line on new games

Report Post Tip

In Greece we have too many illegal casino's almost 1 for every 10.000 citizes. They are illegal and usually before christmass the police will close half of them. Especially if you don't bribe them. So i think it would be more realistic if gangsters could own a second casino in town, probably smallest, with less profit.

Seeing as Dice isnt actually part of the casino... Where are these games?

I can imagine that Casinos are alot less used now that Dice is in the picture so it negates the argument that they should be player owned anyways...

Dice is done and boxing is on the way.

 No.

Report Post Tip

Why is the market "damaged"?

Report Post Tip

Credits used to go for around 400-450k per cred not so long ago, Clive. Then Dice was created and the price has vastly decreased.
