Casino Ownership Started by: JonnyBeRed on Dec 18, '13 18:35
I know we just had a change with the casino ownership. Casinos are no longer player owned. The reasons given for this change were:
1. The pricing for games wasn't quite right
2. There were periods when some cities didn't have a casino, and this was "bad"
3. New games were going to be introduced, and the admins didn't want to "step on any toes" when they were added.
4. Money wasn't being taken out of the game.

My proposal:

Have the casinos be game-owned, but purchasable from the game-owners. For example, a player can buy the casino in Chigago for $X.

Let's address the issues from before:
1. Change the pricing. I know this could require some effort on the part of the admins. I don't think the pricing was that far off, but tweaks can be made.
2. If the game owns a casino in every city (until it is bought by a player), then this concern is not longer valid. There will always be a casino in every city.
3. Introduce the new games! It's up to the player to buy them. If you are worried about the casino owner not buying the game, then either open a game-run casino to have it or offer a special discount for the first 24 hours or something.
4. Take a bigger cut! I was astonished that when I owned a casino, I had to pay about 24k per week to have it open. I was clearing over 15 million a week! Make it a percentage, or have the game take a cut off the top for "security" or "bribes" or whatever. Take 10%. Take whatever is needed to keep the money situation where it needs to be.

I now open the floor to suggestions, arguments, and valid points. Please, let's make this work.

I think it's a solid idea.

I haven't read in to the hole politics of why the casinos suddenly disappeared. I am not really a user of them and did not have an interest in owning one. However, I do think it's a point that could be further expanded on.

Having the casinos game player owned open up the angles of robberies, police enforcement and the like. It also allows natural ebb and flow of cash in and out of the game.

I see this suggestion as the best of both worlds and cannot really see why it would cause any issues beyond time of coding?

Thank you for your opinions. Is there anything about the proposal that can make it stronger?

I don't know how many of you know, but I was one of the two (that I know of) casino owners when the change took place. I wasn't really the owner, though. I only owned 60% of that casino; 5 shareholders in my family owned the other 40%. We were in the process of proving that our economy could be changed for the better. We were showing that a family could come together financially to make amazing things happen. It was going to be a source of long-term security for our family. That was taken away. Again, I understand the reasons behind taking the casinos from the players. I just maintain that there must be some half-way point; a point at which the casinos can be player owned, but the issues that resulted in the change can be addressed as well.

Hopefully the admins see this pot and implement it in to the game!

One of the best suggestions in a while!

I'll agree with the sentiment of "one of the best suggestions in a while". I think it might take some time given what's on the coders plates at the moment, but a good look at pricing, adjusting, etc etc I think should happen.

Most, if not all of the known reasons for removal of user owned casinos were covered here and I sincerely hope this is given some consideration.
