An Emergency Christmas Appeal. Started by: Ziva on Dec 24, '13 22:46

Heart full of sorrow, Ziva makes to the streets. Snow is up to her ankles, and such is her state of anguish that she neglected to wrap up warm before she came out; no hat, no scarf, no warm gloves. The usual light in her eyes is faded and dull, as though events have left her resigned to the sorry state of the world she lived in.

As she makes her way through the crowds, one can't help but wonder; what exactly has happened to Ziva, to bring her such forlorn sorrow?

Reaching the main street, bustling with activity, it being Christmas Eve and all, she upends an empty milk crate, and steps up on to it, before beginning to speak.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I come to you, this snowy Christmas Eve, with an appeal. Each year at Christmas, many people are left, alone and unwanted, to face the festivities alone, in a cruel reminder of their misfortune and bad luck. This year, their number has been swelled by somebody who, I feel, has been an important member of our very own community.

Ladies and gentlemen, I, Ziva, come here before you today, not as a leader, not as a commenter, but as a representative of The Society for the Protection of the Dancing Bear - known and loved as Leroy. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, a cruel shake of the dice from our Gods has left poor Leroy both homeless and out of a job at Christmas.

This bear, this poor, maligned bear, was removed from our world without fanfare or goodbye. I do have it on good authority that he did put up a fight, but he has still found himself cast out in the cold, unemployed and unable to feed his cubs for Christmas - let alone get them any Christmas presents.

Mrs. Leroy has already ejected him from the family cave. He's a shadow of his former self. He even sold his hat.

And all he did, good people, was try to brighten up peoples days just that little bit, with the gift of dance.

I turn to you all here today. I beg you to voice your protests at the unceremonious and un-festive decision to leave Leroy out in the cold this Christmas. And I invite you, in remembrance of his work, to share fond memories here.

Leroy; We loved you.

Wiping a sad tear, Ziva bows her head in a moment of silence for the loss of Ziva, before pulling from her bag a large candle, and a sign reading "Pray for Leroy", which she props up against her milk crate.

A tear falls from Cory's eye.

"Leroy was a good man and I stuck by him since day one. The day I heard about his death, I was devastated. I made money with Leroy. I fought wars with him loyaly by my side. I watched him dance when I was bored. I had his back and he had mine. He had a warm place in my heart.

However, he does make one sexy rug."

He pours a beer out on the ground for Leroy.

Roquelaure's eyes fill to the brim with tears as with a single blink they stream down her face. Nothing more horrific burned into her mind then the vision of this poor beloved bear once in his prime now laying there merely a rug.

Bending down she touched the soft fur and ran her hand down to the paw. The fur felt amazingly silky in her hand and she couldn't help but put her other hand on it.

You know I never knew his fur was this nice.. She had looked up at those mourning and then back at Cory_Chase.

I can't help but say you are right there! One damn sexy rug.

She kneeled there for a bit still stroking the fur and then brushed the last tear from her cheek that had almost dried to her skin, and then slowly stood up.

I'd like to wear that skin... Might scare people.

He always looked so happy while alive, but dead... dead he might intimidate someone.

WhereWasI watches everything with a look of horror on his face. Leroy was not only dead, but they stole his skin and began finding uses for it. After vomiting for a while he staggers to his feet and says,

"We have not only been robbed of our bear, but my journals (which have many tears, stains and missing pages) have no record of a proper funeral. So I guess I'll just join some others in treating this like a funeral. Rest in Peace Leroy, you nearly got me killed once, but no man or beast deserves this form of ridicule."

WhereWasI shakes his fist as Squishy, then realizes what he's doing and runs as fast as he can.

Report Post Tip

Calling after WhereWasI, Ziva seeks to reassure him on the funeral she was in the process of planning for the bear.

There will be a funeral, my friend. And it shall be grand. I just have to kidnap his poor lovely fur back from Squishy, and arrange to lay him to rest both peacefully and with dignity.
