A rash of Suicides and Retirings Started by: Prozac on Dec 28, '08 19:03
It's the holidays. It has to be the holidays. Seasonal depression gets the best of about ninety percent of our population, I would say. A majority of us are normal, hide in our offices and drink ourselves nearly to death until we figure out that life is still worth living and that Aurora will steal your jewelry if you don't shape up and sober up.

The other tiny, small fraction of these people actually do drink themselves to death. They get their hands on a bottle of rat poison thinking it's vodka and gulp gulp gulp...

On a more serious note, though, people have said it before and I'll say it again. "Suicide is a cowards death". Usually it is the act of someone desperate to get out of the life of crime, or to leave the life of crime and have their son and daughter return under the cloak of incog-ery and under the protection of another family.

And it's utterly stupid.

You all owe your bosses more than you think. If you feel unappreciated, I can sympathize with that. It happens to more people than you would think. Yet effort to get to know a person is a two way door, that both you and your boss had the keys too. In the case of you not knowing your boss, or your boss not paying attention to you- keep in mind it was them who first took the risk, invited you in off the streets and into their HQ, exposing their inner workings and their crew structure and the likes.

The least you owe these people, as your protector and Boss, is a "hey I'm thinking I want to die". If your immediate thought to that was "But I don't want them to get the kill", then you are a greedy son of a bitch (or daughter, depending on who you are) who has no concept of family or loyalty. It most likely is a trait that will be passed on down your family line as well, so I can only wish you all the best of luck in mediocrity, because until you learn to be selfless and do everything for your family, you will never get as far as you hope to, or achieve all you wish to.

That, or people just want to be as cool as the late, great Edinburgh, and shoot themselves in the face.
Report Post Tip
Indeed that suicidal maniac Edinburgh was cool, perhaps even the coolest. I did hear through the grapevine though that he was desperately trying to make ends meet to look after his son Sidrington Stanley, so Numbers4Glory promised that if he offed himself he would lavish money, jewels and employ Bodyguards for round-the-clock protection for the young pup.

So I heard anyway...

Being as it is that my father was one of these recently deceased retirees I think I may be able to shine a bit of light on things. To put it simply, Life was getting boring... everyday was the same. You go out and rob some fool's bank, snatch a few purses and end up back in the bar or HQ chatting up some of the family... who as we all know, never really change that much. Well, Except for a few of em who die in a family war or two which never are any surprise. We know who will win and who will lose. All thats thrown up to chance is who it is that really dies. You want to make a change? Then Start rebuilding the pitiful existence that we have here. Crew leaders need to make this place a little more lively. It is up to them to get out to the people. Not just sit up on their Pedestals in their bold white suits and expect everyone to show respect just because they are able to rob people blind all day long.

But hey, what do I know eh? Im just a shadow. A nobody. A lonely Civilian. I don't matter to them. Just as my father really didn't matter. Just another body that follows orders to stay alive.

basically, the current leadership is a group of narcissistic idiots. There are ruder and more accurate terms for them but I'm not going to devolve to their low levels by repeating what I actually think of them. I've never seen such a sorry state of affairs. I never thought I'd say this in a million years but where the hell is Premeir going rogue when we need him?
Report Post Tip
Dark, did your father try going to his CL to see if there was perhaps anything that he could do to keep himself from being bored and have nothing to do.

If people would just speak up instead of just doing nothing and then making this decision it could turn out a whole lot differently for them.
Report Post Tip
Thats just it Prozac. How are we supposed to speak up to those who will not care to listen? I have great respect for a number of the Crewleaders, but they are not who they used to be. At one time they were just like us. It is a two way battle. In a crew with 60 people it is hard yes... but then why feel the need to have a family with so many people? The more you have the more powerful? Yes? But I know that with a smaller crew, when they are close to each other, can surpass any others. Care for your people and maybe they won't just be throwing themselves away.
Report Post Tip
I would have to agree with Prozac. Far too many times have people decided to take there own lives instead of speaking up. Yet it always turns out to be the CL's fault. As far as I know you where born like the rest of us with a mouth and a voicebox. Use it. If people would come to me with there problems then I could work on helping them. Instead they decide to end there lives. Yes we are CL's, no we are not here for your entertainment.

There are plenty of things to do in this world. Why not try visiting the Business Districts? or how about if you have ideas on how to better the place that does not include waring for your amusement, you share them?
Report Post Tip
And plenty of the leaders are morons these days. That causes people to kill themselves as well. I've never seen so many suicides, actually.
Report Post Tip
Calling the leaders morons and other names is not the way to get your opinion heard. When I hear someone come out to the streets with insults such as this I tend to just ignore them.

You show your true colors when you do this and it does not reflect well upon you or your future sons or daughters.

Its a sad day when you lower yourself and resort to name calling.
Report Post Tip
I think we can all agree that the problem isn't just the CL's but it is not just our fault either. Reach out and offer your Family a welcome. Not just an invite. That's all im saying.

P.S

By the way... the name calling really doesn't help. Piss off.
Report Post Tip
It's not name calling, it's just the exposing of facts. There's a big difference.
Report Post Tip
Its strange though, as i'm sure i've never met you before, Muq_is_an_idiot, and if i've never met you then you have never met me. I don't see how you could have formed the opinion that i'm a moron. Clearly you are basing opinions off of pure bitterness.

I look forward to the day that you can move past your bad feelings and just be at peace. Clearly your anger has consumed you and there is no turning back. Perhaps you should join in on some therapy or something to easy you of this affliction.

Just a thought

It is a shame though you seem to have the intelligence to do something with yourself. Too bad you have taken this route since you came to these shores. Maybe your son will have better luck.
Report Post Tip
well i know that some people felt let down or upset towards a higher power and nothing was handled or even attempted to be made right. and that would cause a person to be so pissed they would take their own life.
Report Post Tip
Raynee its the Crewleader and their RHM and LHM's job to run things. They were entrusted with a family and that power for a reason. It is the job of all the crewmembers to work hard and do their best. The Crewleader knows what they are doing, and there is a reason behind every action taken.

If someone is pissed off and they do not seek help or take it up with those higher powers then it is their own fault and should not be shown any pity whatsoever. If the person is too scared to speak to their Crewleader there are other support systems in place. Mainly the RHM and LHM.

So forgive me if people get pissed off and retire or kill themselves when in most cases their is little or no initiative to try and help their own situation or family.
Report Post Tip
but say that person went to the CL or RHM or LHM then what then?
Report Post Tip
Then the issue would be resolved in a manner that is in the crews best interest. In my experiences very rarely does the person take it on their own shoulders and actually go to someone. Retiring or killing yourself is the cowards way and selfish way out.

Should they actually go to someone in charge then they would understand to the extent that they should, what is going on and then the problem could be resolved
Report Post Tip
As a former friend of a retiree the main problems faced were the repetitive nature of this thing of ours and the time it takes. Although our career sheds wealth and excitement, the level drops and then we sit bored wondering whats next or in between wars. The quick time then when a loved one is lost and quest for revenge or the lack of hope of gaining it can take it out of the best of us.

It is difficult to motivate all members from a crewleaders view as we all have different levels of involvement and different outside interests away from this thing of ours. Where some live and breath it, others sleep for a week a time through it, just making the odd lil extra money of this thing.
