Silence Is Golden Started by: Scorpion on Feb 02, '14 22:53

Scorpion took his first steps out of a Mortal Kombat Arena when thoughts started infusing into ideas of discussion.  After he finished wiping the blood off his new blades he decided to go into the streets and start a speech. Scorpion walked in the middle of the street and after jumping and kicking randomly a vortex opens and a podium drops, Scorpion then walks up to give his speech.

I for one do not believe in talking in these streets, but I am going to discuss a topic that is contradicting what I am doing right now.

The topic is about silence. People seem to forget that us Mafioso's work in a code of silence.. Omerta.

Scorpion hears chatter from other people doing speeches in the same street as him

Why are these streets so active especially if it contradicts what us mafioso's strive for in keeping a low profile? Is the reason that you guys only like to hear yourselves talk? I believe that a main reason is rank requirements... That is what I am putting up for discussion.

Scorpion clears his throat

I have noticed that many families in my fathers bloodline have rank requirements that demand street speeches and conversations. I do not agree with this.

Although leaders argue that the reason for this is to make sure members are participating and build skills in talking with others also in persuading public opinion from a good speech!

Scorpion shakes his head

The reasons why I believe this is a bad idea is because one it is incredibly annoying just listening to people hear themselves talk with nothing to gain from hearing them. Second how does this mean you earned your bones?? Talk the talk but can you walk the walk comes in to play here for sure. Your telling me I can be lazy, not do much but just talk? My requirements would be donations, your showing you are grinding in these streets. More than just that the leader must make the crucial decision and it should be on how the individual conducts themselves from a day to day basis, do they talk to other, have they communicated with me. Do they donate, how are they during war times? These types of questions should be the crucial ones to ask.

So again do you believe rank requirements in speech making and "postings"  is a necessity? Also should the streets be quiet and not active, only reserved for the top rankers of this world? I believe it is too loud and annoying but I defiantly would like to hear yalls opinion.

Report Post Tip

This is the first time I've seen a "active streets are a BAD thing" speech in all the years my bloodline has been around these parts, so points for uniqueness I suppose.

I mean, you're completely wrong, but at least points for taking a bold stance.

Report Post Tip

I don't get why people would start saying that talking, giving speeches, debates, .. on the streets are a bad thing.

Omerta does mean silence, but the kind of silence that is required to keep you and your family safe.
As long as you don't speak about what is going on inside your crew/family I think you have a certain amount of free speech.
Taking in consideration the rules one has to obide by

Giving a speech is dangerous when you take your 'free speech' into a whole new level.

Opinions are something that should be shared with in carefully chosen words so you don't offend upper ranks and do not cross the Omerta-line.

Looking slightly puzzled at the idea of a podium falling from a vortex, Anna swings off the wall she's been leaned against whilst enjoying a cigarette. As she listens to Scorpion's speech, she finishes the cigarette, throws it down and presses on it with the toe of her shoe. As he finishes speaking, she smiles and begins to respond.

Why are these streets so active especially if it contradicts what us mafioso's strive for in keeping a low profile? Is the reason that you guys only like to hear yourselves talk? I believe that a main reason is rank requirements... That is what I am putting up for discussion.

Have you seen any speakers dragged off and interrogated by the cops because of words spoken in the streets of late? I haven't. It seems to be the commonly accepted consensus that we as the mob control these streets. That they are a safe place to talk, to discuss, to express ourselves. And I think that you're assumption that either "we "like to hear ourselves talk" or "a main reason is rank requirements". I think that that cheapens the contributions of those who take a lot of time and effort over their speaking to an incredible level.

There are many reasons to speak on the streets. To myself, it's enjoyable. It's a way to express myself, it's a way to get to know others and their beliefs and ways. It's another dimension of this world. It requires people to put actual thought and effort into their actions more than, I believe, any other aspect. You want to train a gun, you check target, you fire, you move on. You want to earn, you go about it through set processes. You want to be a speaker? Then you need to not only have something to say, you need to put the thought into how you want to say it, how you want to come across, whether or not you are speaking on a point that you are able to defend or not.

I think that one of the reasons that I enjoy speaking on the streets is because of that. Because it requires thought and effort. Because if I don't engage my brain before I open my mouth, I run a very real risk of being removed. Because if I don't engage my brain before I open my mouth, I risk my reputation.

I have noticed that many families in my fathers bloodline have rank requirements that demand street speeches and conversations. I do not agree with this.

I disagree. Not in my bloodlines time on these shores, but most certainly in times previous, friends with ancestors going far further back than mine tell me, the streets were so much more to our world than they were now.

Listen to the speech SammyGarcini made earlier; to have a chance of auth or becoming a Godfather, you HAD to have a presence on these streets. You had to give people a sense of who you are, of what you believed. You had to prove that you could talk the talk every bit as much as you can walk the walk.

I think that that is a preferable state of affairs to one where entire upper structures are able to go through life with nothing at all to say out here, with nothing to express further than "Oh, I got a HQ." Now, I'm not ignorant, I know that not everybody is an orator. I think that everyone has the potential to be able to say things at times, but I know that not everyone is going to either want to speak on a regular basis, nor enjoy doing so. So possibly a total return to the times described by Mr. Garcini is not entirely preferable. But I do believe that crew leaders, Godfathers - if not speakers themselves, should have somebody well regarded in their organization able to do so. I think that that is a reasonable goal to aim towards.

The reasons why I believe this is a bad idea is because one it is incredibly annoying just listening to people hear themselves talk with nothing to gain from hearing them.

Nothing to gain? Again, I must disagree. Whether or not you agree with a persons point, whether or not you particularly enjoy their story or their song or whatever else it might be they bring to the streets, I feel as though it is incredibly rare that there is nothing to gain from a persons contribution. Even if it boils down to basic style of presenting their words that they do well, even if it's merely mildly entertaining, if not particularly thought provoking - paying attention to those details is still something to gain.

Because as I've said earlier, it shows that you can present yourself. It shows that you can share and potentially defend your thoughts. It shows a little more to your character and personality than the ability to just keep your head down and do the basic tasks of our world. Of course, that isn't to say that that is the only consideration in awarding rank, and I'm yet to come across the leader personally who makes it so. Donations, showing you can communicate with both the boss and the family, possibly whether or not you are building a gun - those are also things that come into it. Personally, were I a CL, I would make requirements more of a rough guideline on the type of effort that you should be putting in, not specific quantified amounts, and then make the decision on rank on a case by case basis. But that's just me.

So again do you believe rank requirements in speech making and "postings"  is a necessity? Also should the streets be quiet and not active, only reserved for the top rankers of this world?

I think that rank requirements are the business of each leader. I can't help but wonder if this speech is being made as a dig to a current or former leader of your bloodline who has, to your distaste, included such requirements, to be honest.

However, I absolutely do not believe that the streets should be quiet or reserved for only the top rankers of this world. I think quiet streets take away a huge amount of fun and interest in this thing of ours. My bloodline has put significant effort of late into trying to breathe more life into these streets, I'd be gutted to see things go dead. The streets are for people to express themselves and their opinions, in my view. Opinions are not reserved for Leaders alone.

Report Post Tip

Well many reasons, one it is annoying hearing pointless speeches. Two you are not keeping a low profile, your name is jogged in the memory of other mafiosos so when the time for war comes your name would come to mind first rather than someone who was inactive. Third you can be killed for what you say along with making enemies in a "debate" topic just because people do not agree with you.

I do see reasons for the streets such as improving speaking skills, times of war speeches, and auth speeches. In my opinion the last two do require more attention but just like a homework assignment it is more work to be done do rather than not being able to do it, and by "practicing" that would range on a person to person basis.

Pointless speeches? I just tried to explain to you, that there is something to be gained from every speech. Personally I'd rather here opinion speeches than endless auth speeches. Because they're interesting. They might not be about to change the world, but they're interesting. And personally, I believe that if something is worth saying, it's worth dying for. If someone wants to become an "enemy" because of something that happens on the streets - ah, let them. If someone wants to shoot me - well, at least I died for something. It might not have been for my crew - which would always be my first presence, but it's better than dying for nothing.

Report Post Tip

Ronald listens to his friend Scorpion expressing an unpopular idea. His conviction in speaking his mind iss one of the things Ronald respects about him.

You are right that silence is golden and often times it's best to keep a low profile. My father made it all the way to Boss without anyone ever even learning his name. He also died suddenly without ever impressing anybody but his crew leader, who died in the same war. So I'm going the opposite route. Sure I'm exposing myself to more danger but I'm pretty satisfied that I've made an impression on people who wouldn't have ever heard of me otherwise. I want people to know who I am.

To me the streets are more than war and auth speeches. It's where we collectively build our culture. Like Anna, I genuinely enjoy the debate and open exchange of ideas. I enjoy learning more about the different personalities that inhabit our world. It's something I'm good at and something I notice in others. I love to see the streets buzzing with activity and I think it helps keep people more engaged with one another. If you don't enjoy it that's fine: it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Report Post Tip

Anna by pointless speeches I would refer to the people only coming out here to make a rank requirement. Lets take for example the two roles here. One would be participating the other wouldn't, now for the one that does I even applaud, I am not saying that speeches are useless and not important. What I am saying is that some people come to the streets to make noise in order for a rank requirement.

Scorpion looks at his buddy Mc Donald's

Hey bubba! I see your point man. It's good to see your point and I agree with some statements in your point.

I believe everyone has the right to choose their paths, but should everyone have to go on the requirement path.. Might as well cut that out so we don't see pointless threads just for rank points. Yes Anna there are pointless threads in my opinion that I could care less for, thing is im not scared to say that.

Report Post Tip

Personally I'd rather here opinion speeches than endless auth speeches. Because they're interesting. They might not be about to change the world, but they're interesting. Listen I get that these speeches are "interesting". But this is life we are talking here, and survival. Being bored can be taken out somewhere else. Why come out here and play russian roulette just because it is "interesting". I would rather play it safe, let the gun do that talking and have actions be what "interests" me.

Report Post Tip

I'm also not saying that the work for the rank requirement  is not bad. There should be an alternative for the postings and threads and that is also why I come to the streets today.

Report Post Tip

Ohkies....now, let me take a stab at this,shall I?

Now...you want to know why people should come to the Streets? Well...let me ask you a question,Scorpion..why have YOU come to the Streets? Well...to share an idea,I would assume. Same reason why others frequent these fair and booming streets.

Now..onto the more pressing query of why crewleaders such as myself should expect their members should be more than money making clickmonkeys...well, believe it or not, our world is built on relationships and the Streets are a great place for that. Sure, IRC avenue and the Skype highway are helpful as well( more so these days) but it's the STREETS that belong to this world. That is what they are meant for. However, if you believe that simply having sent fucktons of money up and having a buttload of notches on your gun is all you'll ever need to succeed...I am sad to say, you don't know the half of it.

I can say with quite a large amount of confidence that I wouldn't be where I am today if not for the work I put into the Streets. Considering I now seem to be running a district..take it from me... it actually works.

Report Post Tip

Let me clarify this for you Alex. The reason I came out here was to discuss the topic. Now if you took time to read the arguments you will see that I did not dismiss street speeches as a whole, only as a rank requirement. I understand that the streets are vital for this life of ours, very important such as how I can stand up here and bring this important issue to the eye of the people. For the people that enjoy the streets and have fun while doing it, more power to them. It's the people that want a low profile and not be caught in this death trap called the streets.

Second was the requirement part since you are a crew leader. I almost feel like you are saying that public speaking is more important than murder and donations. Haha this makes me laugh, hard. Your telling me I get more attention for making this noise I am currently doing than decapitating the head of my enemy and showing my Boss the job is done?

Personally I am good at public speaking, no problem. The thing is no matter how good you are, these streets are a death trap and not good for survival.

There is so many other way to make connections instead of the streets, you have the HQ bar, crew chat on irc, and just walking up to people and introducing yourself.

But putting your name out there and getting attention is not the best strategy, and as for having that prove I deserve the button is just down right a joke.

Report Post Tip

Well...I didn't pay ANY attention whatsoever to the following arguments. Of course, I didn't. If you couldn't be arsed to clarify it in your original statement...I will simply assume that is your final word on the subject.Soz.

Actually, no. I did pay attention to your following remarks..so allow ME to clarify. What is wrong with it being a rank requirement? I have no idea if dear Maple considers it one but even if she does..it's her choice. If I was to have a Street speech as a rank requirement..it's my choice. That's one of the perks of wearing a pretty little bold suit, yaknow?

Anyway...did I ever say earnings didn't matter? They do. They matter quite a bit. However, since you OBVIOUSLY know so much more than I could possibly ever know about getting bolded, slantied or attaining GF..I guess you know everything you should ever know about succeeding here and anything I say will probably have no impact on your easily predictable meteoric rise to greatness.

The Streets are a death trap? I've lived for longer than others who spoke much less here. Not much longer,granted...however, long enough, in my book.

Report Post Tip

Clay was exploring the new world, and he was damn excited to learn new things and new culture. He came from a world far different from this. Though english was not his native tongue, he learned a lot from the "Thomasites" that wandered his country. His grammar was not perfect, but it was passable. And upon joining his new found family, he discovered the "Streets!" The "Streets" where his brothers and their likes would gather to talk about the underworld. And now, rubbing both hands, he takes courage and speaks out.

I myself take great pleasure in listening about the discussions here. I learn a lot of things. Things that I won't be able to learn just by keeping to myself. I know that we adhere to the code of Omerta. But I don't see anyone arresting us now because we're talking about our trade.

He looks around him, spotting a couple of crooked cops eating doughnuts.

What I'm trying to point out is, the Streets is ours. It is our safe place to talk about our trade, talk about our lives, talk about being a mafioso. Still, you should always take responsibility of what you say. These streets are ours, and these streets has rules.

He then takes a swig from a bottle of his home made alcohol.

Report Post Tip

Yes but you are not safe from other mafiosos. Yes Alex might have made it far but kids grow up to be athletes, smokers can live to 100, the point is it is possible but very unlikely. Ohh and for the Maple comment Alex, I said my bloodline has had previous leaders to clarify.

How about this Alex, this is a discussion of opinion not to point fingers and show boat how smart you are. Lets be mature and find out together if "Street speeches" should be a requirement.

I do not believe so, but I do believe the work that would have been put in for the streets should be made somewhere else; maybe in an HQ thread or have a mandatory job position as an alternative.

Im going out of character on this but... If this was real life, would you be talking on the streets. Your telling me you have killers all around you and people with a itchy trigger finger and you want to say a speech for whatever reason? HA and even more so because it's exciting??

You can get to know people with out the streets and still be as or more effective. Mob mails, FAMILY, Hq threads etc.

I want to set a guide for the next generation of mafiosos even my own son; this requirement should be eliminated for the danger and risk it contains. Although if the individual loves the streets and can't get away from it than by all means let the person choose that path. Public speaking is very dangerous in the mafia world, if this was a class speech then by all means make it a requirement; but the fact is it is too dangerous and strings attached do get involved such as pissing the wrong people off, and memorization of a name since it is shown to EVERYONE and repeated.

Report Post Tip

Well many reasons, one it is annoying hearing pointless speeches.

No one makes you listen to the speeches.

Two you are not keeping a low profile, your name is jogged in the memory of other mafiosos so when the time for war comes your name would come to mind first rather than someone who was inactive.

Did you not just do the same thing by coming to the streets yourself? And bashing the fact that most people's speeches are rather pointless probably didn't keep you in a low profile class as you state.

but should everyone have to go on the requirement path

I've never seen it made a requirement, I have however seen it promoted. Which, I see nothing wrong with doing. Crew Leaders should promote street activity. Speaking is what the world was built on.

Why come out here and play russian roulette just because it is "interesting". I would rather play it safe, let the gun do that talking and have actions be what "interests" me.

If you can point out someone that was killed for their street activity please share. No those who come out to call Godfathers name's and be basically killing themselves for attention don't count. WhereWasI was bold and extremely critical. He was never shot for his disagreements.

There should be an alternative for the postings and threads and that is also why I come to the streets today.

There are alternatives, it's called Petty, Felony, Jails, Pick Pocketing, Shooting, Mob Mailing, HQ Communication...

But putting your name out there and getting attention is not the best strategy

From what I have noticed your lineage dies just as much as the next person. Silence hasn't granted immortality has it? If you don't think people don't "target" silent people your highly mistaken. It's called rank, it's called WS collecting to see who is using a gun, and other means that paint targets with priority over who is speaking in the public. So the strategy is really non existent.

but the fact is it is too dangerous and strings attached do get involved such as pissing the wrong people off, and memorization of a name since it is shown to EVERYONE and repeated.

Trust me, that has nothing to do with the streets.

I'm just rather confused and don't see any justification to anything your trying to defend. Granted I may be biased because I'm "pro" street speaking. Although I respect your opinions they are all farse, yet they are your opinion non-the-less.

Report Post Tip
This is the most ridiculous argument I've heard put forward in a very long time. It is as if you have racked up a huge debt and as a cruel punishment you've been shoved out in the open.

The fact that you are dressed in a ridiculous fancy dress costume would suggest to me that the traditions of the mafia aren't always in the forefront of your mind. I take no offence in how you decide to portray yourself as it is not by business, only it does appear a tad hypocritical. I'm also trying my best to not comment on the many slurs and confusing language you use in regards to this thing of ours. I suppose I just have, though. Nevermind.

From my knowledge, very few leaders exist in this era that would withhold promotions to the quieter mobsters. As you mentioned, there are plenty of other tested methods to judge whether those are worthy to receive their button.

The Streets are here to be used. We have earned them. The police keep their distance - that has never been an issue and it seems strange to me that others would disagree that it's incorrect to chat in street corners amongst ourselves. There is no threat.

It is perfectly fine that some choose to be tight lipped, in my opinion – some may not feel confident enough and enjoy listening. Others may wish to spend all of their time earning.

What I do like to see is bosses leading by example, and encouraging their members to be vocal. I would push my family, too.

Also, I don’t see any harm in being recognised. We will all bite the bullet one day and go for our final swim, regardless whether any of us decide to live as a hermit or not. There is no hiding.
Report Post Tip

Scorpion, I'm really getting the feeling that in keeping responding to you, I'm either feeding an exceptionally hungry troll - since, as Phobia just pointed out, you're doing the exact thing you're complaining about people doing - or that our beliefs are so polarized that to continue to attempt to reason with you is basically having as much effect as me running headlong into a brick wall wearing a crash helmet, bouncing off and going back for another go. I'm never gonna knock the wall down, and I'm gonna end up with a headache.

But, God loves a trier and all, so, God help me, I'll have another go.

You're saying this over and over and over. And that is what more than anything makes me think that this thread is toys being thrown out of the pram because of this being a requirement asked of you or an ancestor of yours that you either didn't quite agree with, or felt was beneath you.

If it is, you need to get over it. Your crew leader, or whichever crew leader asked this of you, has worked hard to get where they are. It is their right, as a leader, to impose whatever conditions they damn well please for promotions. In just the same way that if you ever become a crew leader, it'll be your right to do the same. What goes around, comes around. Either play by the rules that your leader asks you, or accept that you are probably destined for a hole in the ground, and be sure to leave your son or daughter a warning of what will be asked of them.

That aside, I'd very much love for you to show me examples of people coming here to make rank requirements, of people making noise in order for rank requirements.

Personally, I'm yet to hear a speech or comment either prefaced by, or including any references to the phrase "hi guys, don't mind me, I'm just here to natter away for a minute or two to make up a rank requirement, lalaalalalala!". So I'd love to know how you know with such certainty that it deserves a speech with such a strong opinion that people are just coming out here to make noise for the sake of rank.

In fact, further to that, if you can tell me how you know, I'd love for you to teach me to follow in your footsteps in identifying this scourge on our lovely, tranquil streets where our awful mob conversations, speeches and interactions are clearly infringing terribly on the rights of little old ladies to sit on benches doing their knitting without having their purse snatched, or for children to play hopscotch in the middle of the road without being hit by one of the many cars ferrying mafiosi too and from these streets for the purpose of listening to or making speeches. Indeed, if you can help me to do this, I'll be sure to round up a chorus of old ladies to stand next to anybody making a speech for the sake of making a speech, and lead them in a rendition of "We Shall Overcome", in order to aid their fight against the nasty mafiosi stealing their streets for the sake of doing it.

Yes Anna there are pointless threads in my opinion that I could care less for, thing is im not scared to say that.

In YOUR opinion. What about in the opinions of others?

Fair play to you for being unafraid to state your opinion, but I suggest you next work on trying to transfer the lack of fear over doing that to this very real belief you appear to have that speaking on the streets is a fast way to get shot. I mean, sure it can be, but you have to spectacularly fuck up, or really be willing to take your beliefs right through to the grave. I admit, myself and my mother have both worked on the premise that if something is important enough to say, it's probably worth getting shot for if it comes to it, and not everybody will be willing to do that, however, one of the most significant stories from our experiences in this thing of ours, to my line, was that of the late crew leader Orithyia. Although the argument that lead to the retirement of Orithyia did overspill far more than it probably should've done and caused more trouble than I wish it had, and that my ancestor at the time wished it had, you've gotta respect that Orithyia was willing to give up the Don crew leader position that'd been incredibly hard worked, in order to stand up for their beliefs. Please do not read me wrong, I'm not saying that the OOC drama that came with that was exactly spectacular, but I have a lot of respect for a person willing to make that kind of statement in support of their beliefs. Sure, I'd rather it not go so far, but if it did, I'd hardly be the first to die for what they believed. Hell, my own mother apparently came pretty close.

Listen I get that these speeches are "interesting". But this is life we are talking here, and survival. Being bored can be taken out somewhere else. Why come out here and play russian roulette just because it is "interesting". I would rather play it safe, let the gun do that talking and have actions be what "interests" me.

Listen? We've already discussed the right of people to NOT listen. And your need to quote me on the topic of "interesting" speeches kinda makes me think that you really don't get it.

Yes, this is life we are talking about here. Some of us aren't quite so scared of the concept of dying though. As my mother towards the end of her time on these shores used to quote, "I'm not scared of dying, I just don't want to". Sure, I'd really rather not die. But if I had the choice of dying or being unable to speak out? Give me that bullet, square between the eyes. In fact, fire a second one in to be sure. I do not genuinely believe that the vast majority of the words that I say, or that the majority of others say, can realistically be described as "playing Russian roulette". Our world is not quite so reactionary as you think - look up the speeches and comments of my mother, Ziva, who died in a war, not for what she said, then tell me that our world is overly reactionary. Sure her death was discussed, but that was some time before the war that killed her. And she did not die because she spoke out, she died because she made a difficult decision to try to save her crew, rather than her own neck.

Scorpion, you go ahead and let your gun do the talking. Let the action be what interests you. But accept that it isn't what interests everybody else, all of the time, and that there are intense periods where our world is incredibly stable and sometimes even a little stale, because everybody ends up getting along beautifully for so long. If we can't keep our streets alive and interesting when there IS action to talk about and discuss, how on earth are we supposed to do it when the opposite is true?

Second was the requirement part since you are a crew leader. I almost feel like you are saying that public speaking is more important than murder and donations. Haha this makes me laugh, hard. Your telling me I get more attention for making this noise I am currently doing than decapitating the head of my enemy and showing my Boss the job is done?

You keep laughing sweetie, but you seem to be entirely missing the point of public presentation here. It is far more than guns and money that keeps our world spinning around.

As for your point on "getting more attention for making this noise"... well. Ask 10 people what they remember my mother for. I'd put money on the majority saying it was for her speaking. Not for her leading, not for the ability she had with a gun, for her speaking, for her street presence. And if that is what they remember for, if she's still remembered by some down the line for that - then hers was not a life wasted.

Im going out of character on this but... If this was real life, would you be talking on the streets. Your telling me you have killers all around you and people with a itchy trigger finger and you want to say a speech for whatever reason? HA and even more so because it's exciting??

Anna falls to the ground, struck by a case of OOCitis.

I'm so glad to have learned tonight that the real life mafia train their guns by buying contracts. I also didn't know that Tyler Durden regularly brought crews of zombies around to help real life mafiosi become better shooters. I didn't know that real life mobsters did a petty crime every three minutes and twenty seconds, nor that the skills of a mobster are decided with a roll of the dice. I didn't know that when mafia crews war in the real world, they get their friends to shoot them somewhere none-lethal so that they can have a little rest for four hours. Wow, I'm glad we keep things so strictly realistic!

Some kind of angel appears overhead, made entirely from bacon. The angel lands beside Anna, and rubs her bacony hands upon her, curing the terrible OOCitis that struck her down.

Taking a deep breath, Anna stands up as the angel disappears from view.

I want to set a guide for the next generation of mafiosos even my own son; this requirement should be eliminated for the danger and risk it contains.

I look forward to seeing you one day get your own crew and starting a revolution against this requirement which may or may not actually be a requirement.

Public speaking is very dangerous in the mafia world, if this was a class speech then by all means make it a requirement; but the fact is it is too dangerous and strings attached do get involved such as pissing the wrong people off, and memorization of a name since it is shown to EVERYONE and repeated.

Death comes to us all. The only way for any of us to live beyond death, is to leave behind a legacy. A legacy of speaking is a perfectly legitimate legacy.

Well then just like most arguments there are two sides. This was about opinion and sharing your thoughts. I gained a diffrent perspective and more knowledge but I still stand my my opinions and judgment. It's been nice hearing yall come out here and sharing what y'all think about this topic; I hope y'all gained a perspective too if you didn't oh well. I believe common sense is on my side but thats why we all have opinions; thank you. :)

If you don't want to speak in the streets, or are incapable of doing it well without sounding like an ass, then just don't do it. Using "omerta" as an excuse is and always has been a weak argument, as I'm pretty certain that it's safe to assume that anybody we come across on these streets is either in or associated with the Mafia.
